I heard one survivor was in the process of being gassed and she gave birth while the others around her died by gassing. Miraculously they both survived. Instead of killing her right then and there… she managed to survive even more gas showers! And the baby she gave birth to survived the equally fatal infant wards which is conveniently disguised as one, when it’s actually a gassing ward.
      Such tough people, these survivors.

It's made worse when you realize that the bread bit was likely intentional, there's no way those guards didn't know that the people were literally starving to death would would attack each other (possibly) for extra rations. They just got off on seeing it. It blows my mind that people are living in a fairytale world where this kind of cruelty is 'impossible' to them, they've clearly never had a sociopathic boss before. Then similar to Stalin what Miao did to his people in China. We have so many examples of how evil people can be to one another. It’s important to remember them all lest we let it be repeated anywhere.

Oh it's quite believable.. It starts small "illegal immigrants" builds up "illegal immigrants are stealing our jobs!" Adds more reasons to hate "illegal immigrants are mooching off the government, and voting", then they add violence "illegal immigrants are getting our kids hooked on drugs and killing them!!"
They do it gradually, so gradually that you can't remember what it was like before, they repeat it over and over, so it feels true...

He survived the horrors of the D-Day landings, fought through france and into the heart of germany itself unscathed. But he would be forever haunted by what he saw in that god forsaken place. He would wake up screaming some nights from the nightmares he'd have. When I was in high school, we took a trip to the holocaust survivors' museum. Just when I think I have heard the worst of some survivors' experiences during the Holocaust. What an unbelievable and truly miraculous story of endurance and survival. He says the only reason he can think of why he survived out of all the hundreds of other prisoners is the God wanted him to be a witness in order to share the stories of all the atrocities with the world. What an amazing way to process what he went through and have so much respect for his ongoing willingess to share what he witnessed.

    God bless you, Mr. Lesser.
In the neighborhood where I grew up, a Jewish gentleman from Poland had a gift shop a couple of doors down from my parents' deli. He also was in Auschwitz, Buchenwald, and Dachau. He knew Mengele from his job working in the kitchens at Auschwitz. How he got that job is a story in itself, but suffice it to say that like Mr. Lesser he was able to think his way into a job that helped him to survive.
I would be surprised if Mr. Lesser's uncle didn't know this man. Maybe even Mr. Lesser did also. He never talked about the horrifying events from the camps, only about how he was able to fool the guards to smuggle food to some of the other inmates. I can only imagine the horrors that he saw and kept to himself.

    • @nattygsbord

People don't forget that gypsies were victims. Rather it seems like people pretends that jews were just a tiny minority of the victims. But in reality were 85-90% of the people killed in the holocaust jews, and the polish intelligentia was the second most harshest prosecuted group. No other minority came close to those two groups of victims in terms of numbers killed.
And the polish jews were also the prisoners in the concentration camp that the Germans liked to beat and torture the most and being most cruel towards. Life was hell for all the other prisoners, so don't get me wrong. All I am saying is that the jews had it worst. And its much thanks to the gypsie community we can know this fact. Because the gypsies died to a lesser extent and could live and survive this war to tell this story.
So the jewish community and others owe the gypsies a thanks for the help explaining what really happened inside the camps.
The nazis of course wanted to kill everyone. Gypsies and jehovas witnesses included. But it was the jews that was their main priority. The war came to an end before they had a chance to finish all their work. Put some areas like the jews in the Baltics were nearly all wiped out. And the same goes for the jews in Poland were 98% of the 3 million jews were murdered by the nazis.
Some types of victims put inside the concentration camps were less hated by the jews. German criminals was often used as assistants to the nazi guards to harass the other prisoners. And the nazis believed that homosexuality was a disease that they one day might be able to cure. But there of course many people who were beaten and killed among homosexuals, criminals and germans as well.

That is one of the most compelling stories about surviving the Holocaust I've ever heard!
Thank you so much Mr Lesser!
It's shocking to hear him tell his story of the atrocities, the murders, the unbelievable evil surrounding him every day, without any hate in his voice.
To be that astute at his age is beyond imagination.
I will tell your story, I will forward this interview to everyone I know.
'God needed me to survive to be a witness'.
    Strong words.

The bravery, the courage, the sacrifice, the fortitude and selflessness this man possessed as a 15 year old boy, to face and endure such abhorrent atrocities is extremely heartbreaking!!!
