I am really sorry but the remake of a classic movie is shocking did not like it I totally agree with you with your first four books but I did not like the remake of it as nothing beats the original one please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your channel love your number one Australia fan John ❤️❤️❤️❤️
No. But that's okay. My favorite adaptation, being I like the gothic underlayer theme of the movie, is "Rose Red." I think I watched twice, and I would watch it again. The plot really speaks to me, and a haunted mansion is a subject I can't resist. Nice earrings by the way 😉
So you pretty much hit the nail on the head, I would have chosen these 5 as well, IT is my favorite king movie of all time, doctor sleep is my second favorite, you practically took the words out of my mouth. Great minds think alike! Fantastic video honey!! 🥳🥳🥳
Great list. I like everything in your top 5. I saw Doctor Sleep the day it came out in the cinema and I loved it. My favourite King adaptations are a little different: 1) Shawshank 2) Dr Sleep 3) Green Mile 4) The remake of Salem's Lot 5) It Most disappointing adaptation was The Gunslinger. Unless you've made it in the past and I've missed it, I'd love to know your top five King books. (Edit: just noticed that I'd put Doctor Strange instead of Doctor Sleep. And that I'd done this twice!)
I have to say I went into doctor sleep with scepticism thinking it would be a soulless cash grab and I loved it and the movie adaptation is honestly utter perfection
I love Needful things and I loved that adaptation!!! Christine just never did it for me as a kid, it's a good film but I find the idea of a haunted or possessed car being not overly scary to me, even as a kid.
I agree with your choice of IT and Doctor Sleep. I'm a Stephen King nut and believe he's the greatest writer on the planet. I know, I know....fanboy....but anyway, it took me FOREVER to appreciate The Shining film. I finally stopped looking at it like an ADAPTATION and instead look it at as an INTERPRETATION of the original source material. That really helped me separate the two from each other and now I can enjoy the film for what it is. There's still a lot I dislike about how Jack Torrance is portrayed, but I appreciate the movie. Stephen King actually did remake The Shining as a television miniseries that he wrote the screenplays for and was directed by Mick Garris. Quality wise, it's far beneath the Kubrick version, but stays far more loyal to the source material, which still makes it an enjoyable series, though the performances from the actors could've been way better.
Yes I agree, that series is naturally truer to the book and it's not bad or anything but I found it lacking. It kind of dragged for me and you hit the nail on the head about the acting. Also I totally get it, I love King! I hope to read everything by him eventually but there's so many lol
You've got taste, and I'm not just talking about your nails and those earrings :D I actually think I prefer both Misery and The Shining as the adaptations over the originals. In fact, The Shining was the first Stephen King book that I read, and I didn't like it that much. Even on a re-read, I'm still like ehhhhh. Misery was better but all of the excerpts of the Misery books made it drag a bit. Doctor Sleep was a cracking book (I read it while roughing it in London waiting for the first train after appearing on the radio at 1 AM), but I haven't seen the movie yet. But you've convinced me to track it down :D Carrie is great in general, and I love the way you said Spacek! I've seen the remake and it was okay, but the original was still better. My next tattoo is going to be an IT tattoo :) But you should watch 1922 if you have Netflix, I was super impressed with that. Although I thought the novella was amazing as well!
Do I say Spacek wrong? Lol I di have netflix so I'm going to watch that next. I had heard mixed things but you've convinced me to give it a go. And please come back to me after you've seen Doctor Sleep, honestly it blew me away!!!
@@MarieMcWilliams You said it right, it's just your accent gave it an excellent twang! Confession time: I've never seen the Tim Curry IT. So I'm going to watch that too :) Will report back!
@@danecobain whhhhhaaattt? Where have you been? Lol it's terrible in the sense that the special effects suck, it drags in parts, it's just very very made for TV old school but it will hold a special place in my heart forever plus Tim Curry is amazing as pennywise
Glad 2 see You Back. I don't like any Adaptations of Kings work besides Misery, and Bag of Bones because I hated the book...so the Adaptation won by default. LoL. Great Video 👍😁👍
These are a great Top 5 list of adaptations Marie. I must admit I haven't seen the film of Misery yet but I did read the book this year and I loved it!. I need to watch the film soon. Jack Nicholson WAS Jack Torrence- phenomenal performance and the book was fantastic!!. I wasn't a big fan of Carrie but I suppose different folks different strokes. I adored the original IT, the remake was good too but I found it more comedic than scary tbh!. Maybe I'm a bit unique but I was laughing a lot during the remake Part 1. Misery, The Shining and IT all got 5 stars when I read them unfortunately Carrie came out as a 2 and Doctor Sleep as a 3. Horror is still my jam though having said the above and Stephen King is still the godfather of scares and suspense. Sorry for the essay in reply lol.
You are gonna love the misery movie! Kathy Bates is incredible in it, she's terrifying!!!! I found the new IT genuinely creepy!!! The old one definitely made me laugh even as a small child but I love Tim Curry, he's a legend!!
I loved Misery and The Shining (I actually prefer The Shining film to the book!) I’ve never read Gerald’s Game so I can’t compare but that’s a really good film
@@JohnBlades I do! Is it controversial? Haha. So I’d done the unlawful thing and watched the film before and it was already an absolute favourite. I found the book just didn’t create tension for me, I had a couple of moments (mainly when the scene was in the animal maze) that creeped me out but I didn’t even feel on edge by the book in the same way as the film! I did prefer how Jack was in the book though, and I felt I picked up on his mental state and alcoholism earlier on in the book which gave the end more substance I think Sorry that was an essay ahaha
Marie where is The Green Mile ?? Lol, , the classics are always gonna be there of course but The green Mile has gotta be up there. Ill throw in Christine as my outsider as a cracking book/ movie. 👍
Honestly it's an incredible film but it's just not my thing, I prefer horror and frankly I was DEVASTATED watching it lol. Like I ugly cried so much, it's now on a list with all the films I'll never be able to watch again because they're so traumatic lol. That's a huge compliment to how well it's done it's just not the kind of movie I watch over and over whereas these bad boys are all about being rewatched!
