It's been a couple weeks since Fishmas in the Eastern Sierra. I can't stop thinking about the fish in those lakes and rivers. I have to feed this addiction and head out for a couple of days. Please come join me on my Eastern Sierra fishing adventure. Let's go! Let's go fishing guys!

Gull Lake, my favorite lake in the Eastern Sierra so far where I just to camp for 10 days every summer since 2005 until it start getting super crowded , but still a beautiful place in small charming town. I fish gull a lot. There are lurkers in the lake including cutthroat trout. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful experience catching those gorgeous rainbows. Let's go!

I have fished Gull quite a few times and have always landed great quality fish, whether it be spoons or even good ol power bait off the bottom. Great video, one of my favorite lakes to fish in the Sierras!

Last year in August I caught my PB there from the shore. 10.03 pounds. I catch all my big fish there. Very common to catch 3-10 plus pound Rainbows there. That last fish looked to be 12 pounds. Great catches. I’ve been fishing this lake since 1974 as a teenager.

Just a tip when your drag is screaming do not real in super fast because that could cause line twists
Absolutely correct. I know better but it's so hard to remember not to....the adrenaline takes over. Reel down when the stop taking line. Plus I am so use to just reeling on my Aldebaran baitcaster where there is no line twist when reeling. Thank you for watching! Tight lines!

I use a clasp on PLines CXX....I've never use braid for my casting setup. I just assume the fish are line shy and finesse 2# and 4#...It works for me. Good luck out there!

Would you mind providing a little help fishing Gull Lake? Where do you park at? Marina? Gull Meadows Road on West side? the park next to the marina? Can you park on the campground road? June Lake and Gull Lake are both not too accommodating for shoreline fishing. Thanks for any help you can provide.

8) Thank you, Man! I get hecka lucky and, honestly, it's the spoons. Spoons are deadly when used correctly. All of those parking spots are correct. I did the shoreline early by the campground. Off the rocks and the cove. And then parked in the marina and did the playground in waders and left of the marina in waders. Then bingo!! I grinded those 2 fish out of that lake. It's really about water temp and location on any lake. They look for temperature, flow, and food. The spot was the right time of day with just enough sunlight. This will change over the season too. The trick is to find these spots the day you're there. Grind the lake and find them. Good luck!

I'm using snap clasp #0 or #1...you can get them at tackle shops or amazon...
What bait do you use and do you attach a weight for it?

How does the Phenix compare to the N one?
The N-one definitely feels lighter than the Phenix but can still handle big fish. You just need to play the bigger fish more than the Phenix. The Phenix can turn the larger fish easier than the N-one. I freak out when I get a big fish on the N-one...haha.

Yea. That thing was massive. Almost 12 inches across just in the middle. The lake is not that big. I beat banks the whole morning from 6 am chasing the sunlight and water temperature. From the campsite to the playground and ended up by the marina late morning. Good luck!!

Your having a great year,,thanks for sharing,,what kind of Lures are you using, there's a good lake I fish in Snelling,CA that DFG have planted up to 25 lb lassen rainbows, I've caught a few 4-5 pounders on Gold Cast master lures, The biggest cast master lures they carry, the Lake is called Mcswain in Snelling,CA, area I fish is on the right side of the handicap dock facing the dam, check it out, there's overnight camping and boating allowed, then you park pass is also good for the upper Lake of McClure
