I wasn't expecting him to DM me either and offer to hang 😭 Pete is way too kind man and same with Ken, Shimuka, and Audrey too😭Everyone is incredible AHHHH😭
It's WILD. There are only buses and taxies that go through Shibuya Crossing, but even those vehicles are quiet? I'm not sure if it's because they are electric and that's why, but I know not all of them are electric. But I do know from what Ken was telling us that Japan has noise laws, and it's just.... so fuckin nice that I didnt realize just how much I REALLY want that everywhere until I experienced it first hand
Maybe it's just me being American, but the idea of a city being quiet is so foreign to me. It sounds nice, having the sights and comforts of a city without all the sensory hell.
Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto are just the gateways to a grand adventure in Japan. From Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, the country is full of incredible places waiting to be explored. Each region offers unique local cuisine you won’t find anywhere else and dreamy hot spring inns that feel like a slice of heaven. If I could, I’d spend my whole life exploring every wonder this amazing country has to offer.
You're such a nerd for Japan it's very heartwarming. It's always fun and soul healing seeing people enjoy life and their passions. I hope to be able to go to Japan and/or Korea one day. I recently went to my mothers home country of El Salvador with her last year. I got to experience the real Salvador and not the tourist side. It was great to experience my people's culture, and it was very humbling.
So I'm an exchange student thats currently studying in Japan and watching this vlog has helped me appreciate why I love being here and the journey I'm currently going through. Seeing all the places you've been to and comparting that with here I've also been was nice, and now I have more places that I want to visit from this vlog. It's really nice to see you thrive and I hope you continue t do so. Love the production value and editing style.
Any time I see you thriving I get so happy because you genuinely deserve all the happiness you get and it's just i dunno, always nice to come to a crystaahhl video for the best vibes!
This is beautiful, seeing your happiness and appreciation for life, experiences and the people you cross paths with is genuinely touching. Even if you don’t think you are.. you are truly an inspiration. Thanks for a great video, letting us into your trip and life for a bit and I’m so happy that you’re happy! :)
The editing and voice over narration on this 1hr+ (I REPEAT OVER 1 HR VLOG) is amazingly well produced and filmed! Great job to everyone involved in the production and thank you for sharing your adventure!
Wahhh thanks so much for such a great time and I'm super excited for you guys to come back!!🤩 I also very much agree that Pete is always conscious of having every single person in the group be involved in the conversation so that no one is left out! As expected of the socializing king🤝🏻🔥 We shall have another ping pong showdown...must seek my revenge😂
Traveling really is incredible. I finally got my passport in 2024 at the age of 35. Better late than never I suppose. I traveled to Mexico, Greece and Turkey in 2024. Japan is definitely my next bucket list destination. Thank you for the amazing video reaffirming my need to go to Japan. Happy New Years and all the best in 2025!!
Wow, you certainly started with a bang with your international touring 😆. Hope you had fun on your trips, I've never had a passport so I've been abroad. But I did go on my very first solo trip of my life in 2024 (only took till my mid-20's), went a couple hundred miles north and went to my very first Comic Con to meet the VA Neil Newbon.
You are so kind! I loved hearing you enjoying all the random conversations you had. That truly made my day, as I like blabbing, too. Some people find it bothersome, but I also love those random interactions. Thank you for sharing yours!
33:50 The game is called Mölkky and it's originally from Finland but has become popular in Japan. Each wood block is numbered and you are trying to reach a specific score either by trying topple multiple block (getting as many points as fell down) or one singular one (getting as many points as the number on the block). Also, did not expect to see Pete. It's weird when two worlds of content creators you watch merge 😅 Great video, I love that you kept it long and didnt try to cut it down too much. Was great to see you enjoying all the different things, especially those small bits of video game locations.
So nice you got to meet Pete! I’m going back there in may so I can’t wait to see what’s next to explore! I share also the culture shock you felt. Like, no trash cans around and how clean the city is for such a huge city.
20:33 an old granny sat next to me and gave me a candy once at an aquarium show and in return I gave her one of mine ( don’t know if it was a hard candy or not (I hope not)). Even though we didn’t understand each others language, we were speaking with our gestures and our basic understanding of some of our words. That was magical…
Oh My God, what an amazing idea to frame a Vlog this way! Really happy that you had such a great time in Japan, I also really want to go one day! Super nice video, really great vibes
My sister and I are planning a trip to Japan for 2026.We have wanted to go together for many, many years now and we are finally making it happen! Watching this made me even more excited to go. It really looks amazing. Thanks for sharing!
i dont know exactly why but i got teared up in the parts where you told about your encounters with kind people - i'm so happy you had a great time in japan!
Silent follower here, but had to comment on how this vlog blew me away!Just watching this reminded me of the times I went to Japan. Love how you were able to connect with random strangers. It’s such a joy to meet those kinds of people when traveling. The storytelling in this is so top notch! It’s so easy to get caught up in wanting to go to the big, popular destinations, but really, the little places you come across along the way that aren’t well known are the best. And yes, playing the Yakuza games really helped navigating Kabukicho without a map, haha. Thank you for sharing your trip.
This was an epic watch as I sit here planning my trip during the spring. It was lovely watching your journey and getting to see it through the lens of persona and like a dragon.
It's so weird seeing photos and videos of Shibuya in real life because I always think "wow, that really does look exactly like it does in p5 and twewy" which I think says a lot about the attention to detail the people making those games go to. Either way it's really neat. Love to go to Japan myself one day as well
Holy wow the editing for this video is incredible. I love the crafted arts style, it really reminds me of like a Yoshi game with all the little details and charm. Major props to whoever edited this.
this is such a wonderful video! taking notes for when i can hopefully visit japan. ALSO: i absolutely second the versailles recommendation BUT make sure you go to the gardens and not just the palace. the gardens on a sunny day are magical, you could spend the whole day there. (also, if you've played pokemon x/y, versailles will be very very familiar!)
Thank you for taking your time and sharing your experience! Went in 2023 with my wife and we were completely blown away as well, the food, the environments, THE PEOPLE why is everyone so nice 😭
This was a fantastic journey to go through. ^_^ Your journal style script was fantastic, and Pinoy's many awesome editing choices made everything flow so smoothly! The transitions were so stylish and smooth, and his musical choices were 🔥; I found myself unconsciously humming a lot while I was watching.
your joy is SO infectious i’m smiling so hard watching this as if i was in japan with u 😭😭 would love to go sometime it always looks like an amazing experience
This is such a great vlog! You’re living my dream, I can’t wait to go myself, and I’ll feel a lot more confident in what to do now that I got to see what you guys did! Also, I’m definitely gonna play the yakuza games now 😊
it seems everyone i know has a japan trip in mind haha, but i’m glad you had a good time!! i went last october with my family and convinced a friend to schedule a trip for himself, but he asked me to join him so i’m going back in april woo!! you should try the kirby cafe next time! the experience was worth it imo.
You and me share the same sentiment. Visited Japan during Tokyo Game Show week last year & it was an eye-opener for myself. Definitely coming back for more this year, probably around Evo Japan this May or another TGS year this Sept. Greetings from a viewer from Malaysia!
I went to japan in April 2024 and November 2024 and its pretty surreal going to a country other than the United States and especially one where basically ALL of your interests come from. Glad you had fun
Not gonna lie, I'm jealous about those nailclippers. That's unironically such a good souvenir because it's unique yet small and fairly cheap but still something useful that you'll use often. I regret not seeing that stall when I visited that temple on my first trip to Japan recently. Sorry, I just randomly stumbled on this video but had to say this. 😂
I don't think the coin laundry is in operation anymore since the sento closed during the pandemic. I was there in 2019 when it was still open and they even had the vending machine next to the sento's entrance as well. Fast forward to 2022 and I was having some takoyaki next to the Leblanc location and the owner there mentioned how she doesn't know if the Sento will reopen. It's been closed long enough for a citrus tree that wasn't there before to grow over the fence where the entrance used to be.
You went to Japan!? Wow, that's so cool! I'm glad you had such a great time here. And you looked really amazing in these kimono. Hopefully you can back soon.
I don't know how to describe my feelings, but it was so good. This vlog really made my day, it was very perfect and cute. Thanks Crystaahhl for this video, i love you so much.
19:52 I think those 3 flavors are supposed to represent the Hanami colors present in 🍡 aka Hanami Dango. The order of the colors is supposed to represent the Sakura trees going from pink to green. So, you've been in Yakuza, TWEWY, Persona and even SMT4? Damn! Who knew Japan was inspired by so many games and series? 😂 One day i'll go to Japan, too. Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto are the obvious destinations, but I'd love to visit Sapporo in Hokkaido, Sendai in Tohoku and Kagoshima in Kyushu as well. I do feel like this would require multiple trips though, how can you visit so much in a couple of days? Ah, to win the lottery! 😅
I visited Japan back in November. I only went for a week and wished I had more time to see the nerdy sites, but I'm also kinda glad because we could barely find anywhere that accommodated my allergies.
I played Persona 5 (my first Megaten game) about 4 months before my own trip to Japan for two weeks back in 2019 Went to Kyoto and Osaka for one week, then Tokyo occupied an entire week on its own. Needless to say, I was still on my P5 high and visiting Tokyo was an amazing and surreal experience
I’m so glad to see that you were able to go Japan CrystAAHHL. You absolutely deserved to go considering how much you grown as a content creator since I first discovered you.
I went to Japan last year with some friends and while there we spent only 2 days in Osaka and a whole week in Tokyo. I love the vibes in Osaka way more and I wish I stayed there longer. So much to do and see over there!
Wonderful journey! 1:05:48 What you feed a cat is called Chuuru(チュール). That legendary snack is soooo pupurlar amoung the cat seeing some cats go crazy. Those fansy old people might be owner, but I guess tha cat is "local cat(地域猫)". They are 'wild' cat but cared by local neighbors. Kind of co-owner.
The reason why we (japanese) are so curious about what tourists think is because we are so proud of our country and we want foreigners to feel it. Gyumon halal ramen 10:49 was very mid. I think we must of went around the same time around Nov 24 to dec 9th for me. The google maps reviews were inflated by Muslim people who’s only choice is halal ramen. I haven’t seen it yet, but on your next trip to japan I reccomend using tabelog as that’s what Japanese people use for food spots
Did NOT expect to see Pete in this video.
