I listened to an interview with Aes where the interviewer asked him if he was satisfied with the length of the album. Aesop replied with something to the effect of, "No, not at all. I wanted to get, like, 50 tracks on this album, but I whittled it down to about 20 and decided that that was what I wanted to put out." Fifty fucking tracks. That might be a record, not only for a hip-hop album, but for any album. If you care enough, I'll find the interview and leave a link for you.

Aesop is my favorite artist of all time. Been obsessed for 13 years. This song seems to be about aesop doing ayowaska in Peru.

A year or 2 ago --ish?... he posted pictures on Instagram that looked like he was somewhere in South America, but I never knew where. Now I'm guessing he was in Lima, Peru and that trip inspired this song. Before The Gates came out he deleted all his photos, some of them are back, but not all. There was one of him petting a sloth in a little boat. It was so frickin cute.

I've been an Aesop Rock fan for years now, and I love several things about him. One, he's human AF. He sees a shrink. He's got a cat. We're the same height. Two, his lyrics are just puzzles and turtles, all the way down. Incredible. Each time I get a new album, I clear my schedule for at least three listens. There's always so much to unlock. I love watching other people get as excited over Aes as I do.Hes too much to unpack for everyone I show him to so it's refreshing and I get that same hype feeling watching you get hyped.Deadass I just sat here for like 3 hours watching reactions to his songs cause it's so hard to find people who vibe to him and get super fucking into it like I do.I know he's technically a rival to you as a reaction youtuber, but check out Mrlboyd's Aesop reactions.Hes really good at unpacking alot on his first listen.Ive usually listened to the songs countless times before he tries it out and it takes me quite a few times to get the same level of understanding he gets on the first listen.Sometimes he's not exactly right but he's usually in the correct vein with his assumptions

@@iammrwack something else I wanted to note, I noticed pretty early on that in order to gain some semblance of understanding with Aesop's songs you need to at some point approach his music like you would a Shakespearean play.At my high school I don't know about others but they made us take alot of poetry and Shakespearean stuff and break it down paragraph for paragraph and really sit and think about what it is they're trying to convey with their words.I deadass believe that some day in the distant future Aesop rock will be discussed in a classroom setting like these language artist giants.
I want to also clarify that this is not a critisizm.I love the way you approach his music.I definitely listen to his album for the vibe the first few times and then start to try unpacking it

When I first heard this song, I wasn't a huge fan of it. But after a few listens, I've come to really appreciate the imagery and the sense of freedom and exploration this track provides. It sounds like a song someone would write on a road trip, and that's kind of exactly what it is.

Got the whole Homeboy Sandman today. Having a hard time. Not very enjoyable so far. I reluctantly admit. But after listen #1. Its his weakest work, imo. Sucks for me. Hope it grows on me. Feel like him on Quelle beats just don't work. This new Aes has to save me. Peace!
