thank you so much for making this video, i had an old fake of pokemon ruby for several years and i was always just so happy to have it that i didnt wonder why they always looked differently for others. thinkijg about it, it does make sense considering the battery is dear and replacing it didnt work either. i put so much time and effort into it, hoping to be able to have a fully working copy, that i will now go cry(i am overall okay. i prefer the painful truth)
Thanks a lot! I bought a Ruby copy from eBay a couple years ago and I always wondered if it was fake or not. Turns out it’s authentic! Pretty decent and pickup since I think it was around 50-60 bucks loose.
The fake one also has a different raised font for the "advance" that is molded into the top of every cart where it says "Game boy advance". Some fakes have this raised wire-like font, whereas real ones have a flat bold font. Granted some fakes may have the flat font, but if it's a raised wire like font it's definitely fake. You can see it clearly in this video on the red fake.
Thank you for this video I have had Pokémon ruby game since I was 9 now I’m 23 and seeing this video while reviewing my cartridge just makes me happy that mine is legit
My local games store, the only one on island. Is selling copies Ruby and Sapphire in cart cases just like that, for $50 I wasn't sure if they were real. I actually do have a fake GBA, which contains the English translation of Mother 3. The backside of my copy of Mother 3 looks exactly like the fake copy of Ruby you displayed in your video. I'm actually looking for an authentic cart, thanks your vid was very helpful.
sorry about that! they do save and trade with original games. there are theories that some crazy things happen when you do trade. one commenters stated when you trade like a gengar from the fake, it can turn to another pokemon like an onyx when it reaches the original.
@@pokeboy14a thats so cool! thanks i just found a 5 star and all reviews are good for Pokemon sapphire Pokemon ruby Pokemon emerald Pokemon fire red Pokemon leaf green Only 35$ and was just making sure it doesn't got a battery like a gameboy color cartridge is all,you still have the games today? What about a ds game of Pokemon?
I had the black one and I can't believe it's a fake :(, I remember me and my parents got it on a toy kingdom in glorietta for like 500php back in 2009 I think and I really thought it was original

i notices the triangle is smaller on the real one compare too the fake one is bigger in the front. huh also the back of them are easy too tell if they have the gold squars on the top corner .thanks for doing thins i been hunting few copies some selling for 60 or 70 and up i know there the real copies but my friend got a legit copy he got one of those cases .i also know the pcb gold pins are diffrenet as well .
also will you the japanese copies i want too get soul silver and heart gold as japanese import there cheaper . same goes with the gba and gb games there just cheaper .
Thank you for this. It’s crazy he got all of those for $5 the kids didn’t not know what they had and sold it. I bet now after they look at the listing on eBay for them they will be like crap
I bought one on eBay with that case but it’s real. The seller didn’t display the case but they shipped it with one. I was worried at first when I got it in the mail and saw that case
While the case is suspicious, those cases are easily available to purchase for anyone. Many people might buy it for a legit copy and sell.
Thank you so much, I’ve been wanting to get Pokemon ruby but don’t want to buy a fake- this video is very helpful :)
You're welcome! Good luck! Thank you for your support!
Whats sad is that the “old fake” was sold in a reputable toy store in the mall. So thats depressing.
that’s sad!

you could, as long as you say it is what it is.
i just copped one from mercari. It has everything the real one had so I am relieved.
nice to know! glad to help, thank you for your support!
You saved me 90$. Thanks bro.
Thank you so much, just helped me find a real one last night much love
Can you do authentication of the japaense versions
Does same apply to Japanese versions
i am not completely sure, but i would think so especially the motherboard and chip characteristics
Also the fake doesn’t sit flush in the original gba
“The funny E”
Yeah i’ve seen it before. It looks like very skinny and small compared to the real E. It’s a dead giveaway that the cartridge is fake.
