Thank you so much for this!! I noticed that both my LeafGreens had different things on the inside (one having the C and the other having the MB) and was worried one of them was fake, seeing that not only they’re both authentic, but the MB is a rare variant made me so relieved and hyped!!
Here’s what I’ve been told: Check the cart type (under the Nintendo logo on the back). The DS Pokémon games aside from DPPt use NTR-031 carts for IR functionality. These look black, but are translucent red when you shine a light through them. For a long time, NTR-031 games were assumed to be authentic, and usually are. Some bootleggers started taking apart other games that used NTR-031 carts to reuse the shell. Still, it’s a good chance the cart is real if it’s an NTR-031. If you want to be doubly sure, make sure your copies of HGSSBWB2W2 can use their IR functionality. If they can, they’re real. DPPt use NTR-005 carts like most other DS games. All the bootlegs I’ve seen use bootleg carts with an incorrect font for the NTR-005 engraving. If you have any NTR-031 carts, compare fonts with any of your NTR-005 carts. If they don’t match, and it will be obvious, the NTR-005 is fake. Another quick thing to check is to make sure the first 4 characters of the serial number on the back (if it hasn’t been rubbed off from use) match the middle 4 characters of the game code on the front. English HeartGold is IPKE, for example. Bootleggers usually make sure they match, but a poor quality fake won’t bother. Again, if the serial number on the back is missing, that doesn’t guarantee a fake. That stamp can be worn away with use.
I had my emerald since I was 5 years old. Watching this video made me open it back up and see the terrible soldering job I did on replacing the battery. Still works tho lol
If you have a reputable local retro game store in your area, I suggest buying Pokémon gba games from them. They would know a fake in seconds and would very likely only sell authentic copies. I got sapphire, silver, and fire red from a retro game store and they are definitely legit. Great video though! Super helpful
At this point, I'm going to invent time travel and loop isolation so that I can go back in time at the release of every game to buy the real ones without affecting the present.
genuine copies almost always look a very specific way, via color, shape, font, sheem. I remember like silver, gold, and crystal have like this flakey, glittery accent to the cart. Crystal has like this translucent aqua green color while silver has like a matte gun-metal color and gold is like a cheesey color. poke red, blue and yellow have a specific color, red looks a little orangey, yellow is mustard color, and blue is borderline purple or navy color. Emerald has flakes on the sticker. Kinda hard to say how the green color but ruby and saphire almost have this pretty glimmery red or blue color that kinda glows when you expose it to alot of light in the background that is extremely hard to replicate. All tall-tale signs you can easily identify as the real thing.
Very helpful. I plan on starting a collection of all the games across systems and I'll be buying from you. It's an ocean of scam reproductions that don't even show the cartridge and you're the only seller that seems reliable.
Very educational! didn't know about the quadrant on the back yet, thats what i was looking for! I figured looking at the circuitry would be the best way to tell, if u know what to look for, and now i do! again thank you!
I have a game store near me that fixes up old game cartridges and consoles, so idk if my games are counterfeit or not because they fix batteries and stuff.
Any idea why there are so many copies of Fire Red with no label out there? I have a copy of Fire Red that a friend gave me. It has no label like yours and looks identical to your labelless one inside. I see many on eBay (UK) right now that are exactly the same (labelless but legit looking inside).
Hi! I have a question. I have 2 authentic fire red but one have a smaller chip( that one on the right). Do you know why? I have noticed in your video that you also have 2 different chips.
The 4 gold square trick is so infrequently brought up. I see so many bootleg gen 3 games sold as authentic on ebay. Even when pictures of the back are provided, it's a shame but buyers need to do their research before placing an offer.
My FireRed has the quadrant on the back and I can migrate Pokemon to my Pearl (Fake games can't migrate from gen 3 to gen 4... I think). However, it has a green Official Nintendo Seal, no stamp, and the font of the Content Rate By is small. The inside of my LeafGreen says AGB-E02-30, but in my FR it has AGB-E02-20. Thoughts?
@@YugiohTube What about the green Official Nintendo Seal? I have two authentic Emeralds and one of them has a completely white seal while the other one is a few shades from being all white.
I have a copy of Leaf Green that I think may be a bootleg, though to be fair I mostly want to know it’s authenticity out of curiosity as I don’t plan on reselling it and I don’t trade between older generations as I have most of the newer gens anyway that feature older Pokémon. The cartridge itself looks pretty legit, however it doesn’t have the indentation of letters. The inside printing under the connectors has a letter E inside a circle, 2003, the circled Nintendo logo and then the code is AGB-E05-03H.
Does the label indent reach the back of the case? I recently bought a Leaf Green and Fire Red that look legit, however they are missing labels. They both have the "quadrant" on the boards.
Fake pokemon games or any fake games wouldnt be around if the games itself wernt sold for a ridiculous price soon we will see 3ds games like this cause the eshop is closing and the pokemon games for 3ds are already ridiculously priced on amazon after nintendo announced its eshop closure
I have a german fire red. I thought it was fake because of the mb Logo insted of the circled "I". The right Batterie is also smaller than others, im still not sure if its real or not. I also heard that you can only migrate to Gen 4 games with the DS Lite if you have a legit Copy of a Gen 3 GBA(only if ur Gen 4 game has beaten the elite 4)
So... Is it possible I have an authentic emerald with a replaced sticker? The one I have doesn't have the shatter reflection on it, but it does have an indent of 19 and E4 plus the quad rectangle on the back of it
So I bought a Leaf Green version a long time ago. I ended up being a dumbass and spilled water on it a while ago. Pissed at myself, I ordered another copy off eBay. Not only was the copy I ordered fake, but I found out so was the original copy. I eternally hate younger me for trading in my original copies of Leaf Green and Emerald for some random games at GameStop way back in the day.
I got a fake Pokemon ruby and sapphire that i just beat 100% on both games. They work very well and save still there, been a few months and still works 👍 You just have to find the right buyer
My copy of FireRed has no indentation on the right, but everything else seems legit. It has the quadrant, the labeling inside the cartridge is perfect, etc. Does the indentation need to be there or are there some instances where it is not present?
I got to your part about the stamp on the nintendo logo and I spent nearly 10 minutes looking for it until I continued the video and then you said the stamp can be above or below the logo. I think I have a 08 or O8 above the logo so I think I have a good cart. Gonna use this to check out my Emerald which I think is fake because everytime I play it and beat it, it doesn't save so I restart everytime so Im 100% sure its a fake
Hi, is the Pokémon emerald that you’re selling on eBay really real? I might buy it at the end of this month, been looking for a legit copy so I can migrate to my ds game and fill pokedex
@@YugiohTube Yeah I inspected it a bit more. I was looking at the back of the Sapphire cart and while you showcased Ruby it still look the same on the back. Same goes for my Firered and Leafgreen.
