Hell even rigs coming out of factories now are 80 automatic.. In another 20 years almost nobody will be able to drive a stick.. Talk about the best anti theft device these days..
I leave my manual transmission running with windows down outside store because no one will steal it. I just bought a 2012 Big Horn with manual transmission for $37k and 63,000 miles. I had to drive thru 3 states to find it. These new trucks are ridiculously high in price
Such a BADASS beast of a truck! Simple yet small luxury that can handle big stuff, really everything you need if you're just wanting simple at a bit of an affording price!
Wisconsin Rebel Homes and that's why the sales numbers show right I think Ford and GM are outselling the Dodge Rams by a long shot you might want to get your info correct
twis7edash ice just because they sell more doesn't make them a better truck. That's like saying cause more people jump off a bridge with no parachute it must be a great idea.
@@maryssawelch9272 yeah you have the Cummins 12 valve that was a good motor the one they have in this new truck that's a crap motor good for about 400,000 miles and then take it to the junkyard. If you buy one of these trucks run it until the motor goes bad and then put it Cummins 12 valve in her and she will last forever. As long as you put it nG 5600 6-speed manual transmission in it
I had a 12 ST and thought I wanted base model because I like work trucks with vinyl floor and manual transfer case and less electronics to break but it was in shop a lot with only 63,000 miles water pump, ac evaporator, fan clutch etc.. traded it in for a 12 Big Horn Edition with 62k miles because some people told me if I had a higher end trim level wouldn't have issues like a base model which I think is bs because I thought Tradesman/ST are same exact truck as SLT and up minus the fluffy pretty stuff. Thanks for doing video of Tradesman because when I bought my ST new there weren't any videos of all the stuff available standard on base model and people couldn't believe work models have so much stuff on them.
Subscribed! QUESTION: We're looking for a diesel that can seat 6 people (not ideal I know). I just watched your review on this and a Dodge Laramie (center console) and noticed that the Laramie's have a dash knob for 4x4 while this has the old school selector and a mess of plastic cup holders reducing any would be footspace. Is there any year/ model that I can get a flip up front seat with a 4x4 knob and no plastic down low, just carpet? Really appreciate the time you take to conduct your detailed reviews. Great insights and allows us to really understand the differences in trims.
The tradesman, SLT and Laramie are all available with the bench front seat and an electronic shift four wheel drive option. When you get the electric shift it does have a small tray in front of the console seat that would measure about 3-4” to store things but the entire floor space isn’t covered in plastic.
I like the description of the controls. The rest I already knew. I would like to know if there is enough room for a generator for a camper if the back seats are up or if they are removed
Review a 3500 ram Laramie long box black out addition please. Looking into getting one, but like to see more on it before I do. Love ur detail videos probably the only one who takes pride in these reviews.
since you are including stats would you add the gcwr and towing capacity (both bumper & gooseneck) of the 3500 srw with the aisin trans long box for 2018. thank you. great job I watch all your videos.
I am looking to buy a new Ram in the very near future. One thing I don't see that I used to have in my 08 1500, was the flat floor under the rear seat. Is this optional?
1:51 LOL Love the finger /subbed 5:12 I find that handle to be in a bad spot. When someone puts their hand there it totally blocks my view of my mirror. 6:25, totally thought that was a salami.
Realize this is an old video but I notice two rear axle gear ratios were listed. The 3.42 gear and the 4.10 gear are both listed. Is it right to assume the default gear was 3.42 and the optional 4.10 superseded that?
Hey Ram lovers. I have a Ram 3500 HD 4x4 Dually. Are you guys getting good wear on the front tires I have replaced my front tires (Nexan) about 9 months ago and I also had a alignment completed. I have only put 3500 miles on them and now I noticed the passager side has outside wear (Rounding) with hardly any on the driver side front tire. I had the rear tires replaced I kept with Nexan because it is what came on the truck. Are you guys getting good wear on your tires? My first set of front tires I got about 15,000 miles on them. Are you guy getting good wear and life of your tires and what tires are you using?
I'm currently driving a 2008 Tundra but has always wanted to own a Cummins powered truck. What MPG do you get without cargo nor hauling on flat landscape?
I am getting around 21 mpg without towing . I live in a mountain area going back and forth. Excellent mpg for a big 2500. Get yourself one you will love that engine and flexibility. Pulls my boat easily.
I love dodge but I hate that they put bad bolts in the 6.7 heads my dad had that problem but fixed it, his is a 2011 2500 Cummings. I still think dodge has the best towing power.
The trim is falling off of my tailgate already. 17 3500 tradesman 6spd 4x4. You can take the ram out of the Chrysler but ya can't take the Chrysler out of the Ram is suppose
I tried to go to a Duramax for 3 weeks but CAN'T BEAT THE CUMMINS for pulling so I went back to a Ram. I had an manual trans 12 ST/Tradesman and traded for an 07 Silverado LBZ Duramax which was supposed to be best Duramax engine but took a loss on trade to get back in a manual Ram Big Horn. The quality of Ram truck is not same as Chevrolet but I'll deal with it to have Manual Cummins
Question, where did you find the info on fifth wheel towing vs bumper towing capabilities. I have a 2017 3500 with the 68rfe. The only towing info I can find just says around 19,000 lb towing compacity. It doest list the difference between the two.
I just happened to stumble across some RAM internal training material (physical pages) on the HD trucks. It is still unofficial but the most up to date I could find. "CAPABILITY • Upgraded conventional (Tag) trailer hitch - 20,000 lb (3500 only) • Upgraded MOPAR 30,000-lb Direct Mount Hitch (previously 25,000-lb)"
Can one get remoter start from factory , in a workman class truck.? Not a after market one..i'd like to have a truck built to my specs, No radio what soever, No satellite crap also. So fill me in on what I can delete from a truck and add.
Yes you can add remote start if it has an automatic transmission. If you live near the southeastern US then Vann Underwood can build you a truck to your specs. Check out the website in the description.
The engine bay and maybe the straight 6 is nicer than Ford's V8 diesel. Thing is you can configure an F350 XL Crew cab dually 4x4 with a diesel, cameras, STX package, power folding mirrors and more goodies for less money. Not sure the engine alone is good enough to get me to buy Ram.
Dodge is pathetic? really??!! The only reason they are not working on rams that much anymore is because the have to worry about costumer requests about challengers, chargers, durangos, cherokees, and competition from ford and chevy. If you were the CEO of dodge and the Chrysler co. I doubt you'd be saying this

That website is useless. I have wasted time there before. I select heavy duty, regular cab, 6.4liter, 4x4 and get two options. 1 SLT with a load capacity of 6490 which is good 2 Tradesmen 6910 which is more than good enough but When I click on search inventory is it starts all over again with selections and payload capacity is not listed. When I make selections again I select DRW in the packages. My matches go to 0. It seems I can't have a DRW without getting a diesel. :( The camper, me, options and fluids are about 5500 lbs. I don't need a diesel for that. Also, the options for transmissions are to the G56 for a tradesmen which means the diesel must be de-rated so there the advantage of a diesel drops a lot and doesn't out weight the costs.
The link provides the info you were originally looking for. "find the load capacity for carrying a camper." If that is not the info you are seeking then please clarify what it is you are looking for.
Finally a well spoken guy making a video with no gimmick.
My grandpas 2008 ram 3500 has never let him down it has almost 360,000 miles . Rams will last forever
I want one with a 6 speed manual, just drive and not use for work. Nice job Mike!
Good I'm not the only one lmao

UPDATE: Last month I got a ram 6 speed manual dually, just to drive and not use for work. I get so many stares at the chick fil a drive thru lmao
I have 1. Merry Christmas 🎅 but mine has under 15k. With g56 4x4 with brilliant pearl black. All factory.
I love these Ram trucks.

It's my dream of towing a Mammoth fifth-wheel through a campground with this Beast!
Dodge always did know how to make a good truck.
Wisconsin Rebel Homes I agree I own a 93 dodge ram 350 and I love it so much! She still runs perfectly to this day!

Maybe it's late, but that yellow pointer finger is giving me the giggles. 👍
Thank you... Please share this video if you can :)
I love this truck I would love one
Just bought one. Really like it coming from an 07 F250 PSD.
Yea I got the same truck.got the fuel/def caps from Geno's garage

Liked before watching..................... Mike you plz do a video of Audi A5 Sportback 2018 !
Thought Rams had single sheet sides? Did that change recently? Liked that look.
Sean O it changed, if u buy one change the bolts in the heads and delete the egr system

Robert DeMilo F350 by far the best diesel truck I've tried most of them out
