that's the good idea I mean Solarman can help Superman defeat The Nuclear Man But Solarman has the same weakness just like The Nuclear Man So he turns back to Ben Tucker so that Superman can beat The Nuclear Man
As someone else on here said...The dude looks like Firelord from marvel comics.Firelord was one of Galactus's Heralds back in the day for those who didn't know.Spider-man also knocked him the fuck out when they fought in Manhattan.
It's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've seen THIS super cool hero cartoon. Sure wish they could've more episodes though. It would've been AWESOME back then!
+zazelby Aha, I see. According to IMDb, it actually is from 1986, but it wasn't aired until 1992. That fits both the character design and the voice cast (it basically looks and sounds like Marvel's other 1980s cartoons).
And now that I've watched the whole thing (yay for not seeming to be able to edit my own posts more than once)... I would have loved this had it aired when originally intended.
If it released 6 years earlier and got a full season, this could've become a beloved cult classic of 20th century animation. As it is, it's not terrible, but it definitely pales in comparison to it's more creative and memorable contemporaries.
Miss Foxstar is a heroine who is Abigail "Abby" Star. She can fly, survive in the vacuum of space, she has superhuman strength and she can also control light and heat and other forms of Energy
And just to add a little more: Solarman was created by a guy named David Oliphant for Pendulum Press way back in 1979, and he's also the Executive Producer for this cartoon (as well as having a "Solarman Character Created by" credit) And, despite his dalliance with Marvel, David still owns the character. He just had a redesigned version of the character published in Scout Comics last year. (Gone is the bright yellow hair, for one thing - Ben Tucker is now an African-American teen hacker rather than a white comic book geek, and he appears to not have a separate "super" form) So far, it's also only made it to two issues.
Mague And the shocking thing was a studio had interested in making it a series until one of their advisors warned that Saturday Morning Cartoons with superheroes would be a dead trend (which ended up being a lie, especially since Fox Kids had cartoons based on Batman, X-Men, and even Spider-Man).
Yea it actually was released on VHS in 1989 to accompany the Solarman comic book from Marvel Comics which I think only lasted 2 issues. The one episode/movie only lasts around 22 minutes but must have had a few extras thrown in because it gets listed as 38 minutes long. This pilot was actually done in 1986 but the series never happened & Fox Kids block only showed it one time I think back in 1992.
So Stan Lee decided to take the origin of Hal Jordan the Green Lantern and combine with the premise of Billy Batson aka Shazam, throw into his plot blender and out poured Solar Man! Thanx Stan lmao hahahaaaaaa
I remember this. Fox had promised to air the first episode of the X-Men cartoon that Saturday morning, but this crap aired instead. I was so mad! I found out years later that the X-Men premiere was delayed because some of the animation wasn't finished.
Does anyhave have the Ghostwriter pilot from Fox as part of Fox Kids Network on October 3, 1992? The special was hosted by Gabrielle Carteris and Austin Green of Fox's “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
I dunno man...maybe 10 years ago when Stan Lee was released a bunch of DTV superhero oneshot movies. But nobody knows about Solarman these days. Who'd buy it?
I have the VHS. It includes an introduction by David Oliphant and Stan Lee. After, David Oliphant interviews Stan Lee and then artist Mike Zeck answers some questions and draws a Solarman picture. I was going to upload the entire tape, but I was afraid of copyright warnings.
The best part of this (besides that awesome theme-song, of course) is Beepie! No, just kidding, he's an abomination... -It's really when Solarman is attacked by Daleks: "THE CIRCLET! THE CIRCLET!"
The intro & the theme song is pretty cool....the only thing that ruins it for me is the excessive explosion sound effects. (Personally, I blame Michael Bay for this.)
SkeletonHug Both, actually. The VHS was released as a cross promotional tie-in with the first issue of this incarnation of Solarman, and was shown on Fox Kids one week before the 90's X-Men cartoon premiered.
So tell me if you've heard this a dying alien GREEN LANTERN...that's the Green Lantern Okay how about a kid Captain Marvel Well how about a Solar Fucking Superman But he has LUKE SKYWALKER!!!
Wait a minute, one of us is right, one is wrong. S1 is when he made time go backwards to save LL. S2 is when he fought General Zod. S3 is the one with Richard Pryor(sorry if I spelled his name wrong)..........Oh, yeah, he fought that machine at the end..............guess you are right. I'm losing my nerd, lol.
It did have a deal to become a series from an animation studio, but it was withdrawn when an advisor for said studio said superhero cartoons on Saturday Morning would be a dead trend.
Welp, that potential ally and the only person who is somewhat informed on what's going on is dead... ha-ha, no time for mourning, here's my new friend - the bucket of bolts!
For all the people saying this cartoon episode was bad. They must think every modern cartoon is Worst then Death. Because this toon had potential to adleast be something decent. And be better then Jem and Holograms adleast.
Mein gott !! it's Boris Johnson's alter ego. They should have made another character named GlobalWarming girl. Together they have a child called Apocalips.
Eu nunca vi esse desenho, Homem Solar, é a primeira vez, esse desenho é da Filmação associados? Esse vilão é cruel mesmo já odiei ele, matou o robô sem piedade mesmo.
@@MrEmperorCJSolarman was an animated pilot for a potential full animated series that never took off. But Marvel has revived the X-Men animated series of the 90s as X-Men '97, maybe they can also revive the Solarman animated pilot as a full proper animated series call "Solarman '93". But there could be a little problem if they want to revive it as a full proper animated series, Solarman would battle Gormagga Kraal and Doctor Doom as the series's villains. That won't be good for him fighting the same two villains in further episodes.
Always good to see Solarman got work after being in SupermanIV
that's the good idea
I mean Solarman can help Superman defeat The Nuclear Man
But Solarman has the same weakness just like The Nuclear Man
So he turns back to Ben Tucker so that Superman can beat The Nuclear Man
"I have no solar power left!"
He says as he is in front of the sun
Cartoon logic, man, plus Solarman reminds me of Birdman in how he can run out of power without direct sunlight.
If this had gone to series it could've been one of the greatest cartoons that 1985 had to offer. It's too bad it was made in 1991.
As someone else on here said...The dude looks like Firelord from marvel comics.Firelord was one of Galactus's Heralds back in the day for those who didn't know.Spider-man also knocked him the fuck out when they fought in Manhattan.
+Kageryu No Kaze More like a bad ripoff of Nuclear Man from Superman 4
It's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've seen THIS super cool hero cartoon. Sure wish they could've more episodes though. It would've been AWESOME back then!
Solarman, Aka the greatest hero alive
I was the only one I knew that caught this pilot. For years people thought I was crazy and was making it up lol.
Nope it’s 2 of us
And now you faked the cartoon and put it on you tube to convince them? I must admire the afford man.
I can't believe I'd never even heard of this until today. I would definitely have thought this was from the mid-1980s rather than 1991, though.
+zazelby Aha, I see. According to IMDb, it actually is from 1986, but it wasn't aired until 1992. That fits both the character design and the voice cast (it basically looks and sounds like Marvel's other 1980s cartoons).

what are the lyrics to he intro?
true! I thought the same originally
zazelby I remember this and his dad is piece of shit for not letting his son be an artist.
If it released 6 years earlier and got a full season, this could've become a beloved cult classic of 20th century animation. As it is, it's not terrible, but it definitely pales in comparison to it's more creative and memorable contemporaries.
Wow, this is the most quotable cartoon ever! It's the animated Anchorman! "Out of sight! I've become a...a hunk! Fantabulous! I can even fly!"
Solarman fought Docter Doom once in Marvel Comics.
In a Hostess Twinkies advert?
Billy Boston/Captain Marvel (Shazam)
Ben Tucker/Solarman
Lapour Jenkins it’s Billy Batson
Miss Foxstar is a heroine who is Abigail "Abby" Star. She can fly, survive in the vacuum of space, she has superhuman strength and she can also control light and heat and other forms of Energy
I like that these cartoons mimicked human movement in their animation
Like...animation tends to do?
Lots of good voice actors
Solarman looks a lot like Firelord from Marvel Comics. 🤔
From the people that brought you Transformers and G.I. Jem!
And just to add a little more: Solarman was created by a guy named David Oliphant for Pendulum Press way back in 1979, and he's also the Executive Producer for this cartoon (as well as having a "Solarman Character Created by" credit)

Hmm, I'm getting a whole Thundercats/Silverhawks vibe from the intro! Classic!
Dude looks like marvels fire Lord
I remember seeing this pilot, I was looking forward to the show but it never happened, just like Defenders of Dynatron City.
Magur Same here!
what do you mean?
i use to love the defenders of dynotron city piolt
Mague And the shocking thing was a studio had interested in making it a series until one of their advisors warned that Saturday Morning Cartoons with superheroes would be a dead trend (which ended up being a lie, especially since Fox Kids had cartoons based on Batman, X-Men, and even Spider-Man).
You're forgot space usagi
Firelord called, and he wants his swag back!
If this episode was redone, I think this could have some promise.
this was on the week before the XMen premier
This looks like it could have made an EPIC series.

sometimes stan had a few duds but I think solarman could've worked.
In 1991, Marvel Productions was still a NEW WORLD company.
I remember this. Fox had promised to air the first episode of the X-Men cartoon that Saturday morning, but this crap aired instead. I was so mad! I found out years later that the X-Men premiere was delayed because some of the animation wasn't finished.
Stan Lee must of written the dialog too! LOL!
Did u existing

this is a rare classic i hope it will come to dvd one day soon
I dunno man...maybe 10 years ago when Stan Lee was released a bunch of DTV superhero oneshot movies. But nobody knows about Solarman these days. Who'd buy it?
i buy it this is a treasure for the 80's and 90's kids and collectors like me that's why i hope this will come to dvd one day soon
Yeah but that's because you have better taste than most consumers these days.
well that is true or maybe most consumers do not know of it but we have to have hope that one day it will come to dvd one day
Mauricio Mesa I highly doubt it.
Wow! I've never seen this before and I watched all cartoons as a kid..ah..1991...was a bit older by then :-)
Sounds like Defenders of the Earth.
Sooo he's completely useless on a cloudy day?...
like me
No. he teams up with Night Girl.
Just like your mom!
Solar Man, Solar Man. Does whatever a Solar can. Has the power of the Sun. Ask real nice, and he'll toast your buns. Hey there, there goes Solar Man!
Who's Solarman?
Christus helios Mithra as Sol Invictus
Who is voicing Solarman?
I have the VHS. It includes an introduction by David Oliphant and Stan Lee. After, David Oliphant interviews Stan Lee and then artist Mike Zeck answers some questions and draws a Solarman picture. I was going to upload the entire tape, but I was afraid of copyright warnings.
If you've still got it mate, upload it, I can't tell you how many copyright intro's I've seen on UA-cam and they are all still posted.
@19:18, "I haven't enough Solar Power to stop it..."
He's a couple of meters from the edge of the Sun and he doesn't have ENOUGH??
:)
Enough *stored* power, meaning he has to risk directly absorbing from the Sun instead of filtering it through the Circlet.
stembuk
Makes sense :)
The lead voice was the priest in The enforcer (1976)
I still have some of the comics made from this show (on Marvel), they were pretty decent.
Surge-Alvez there was only 2 Issues made about this short lived Pilot.
When you at least expected, Sunset Shimmer, Bowser Koopa will be back!
The intro is very 80s for a 90s cartoon
early 80s even
apparently it was produced in ''86 but only aired in ''92...makes sense.
that was great! some of the lines were corny but it was a fun adventure! they should bring Solarman back and do a trilogy
Oh how I remember this only episode!
The best part of this (besides that awesome theme-song, of course) is Beepie! No, just kidding, he's an abomination...
-It's really when Solarman is attacked by Daleks: "THE CIRCLET! THE CIRCLET!"
"I wish Mom was still alive"...
Eh, it's messed up they gave him the 70' s vibe in 91....however it has potential,
Was this the only episode they made? I saw this episode when it first appeared on fox kids in the 90's. I never saw another episode.
Yup, it was canceled, even the comics were canceled after two issues i think.
It was terrible.
Elias Reiniat I don't know. When I was a kid and I saw it I thought it was awesome.
Solar Man is Shazam & Firestorm in one
I can see why this never got picked up...the baby chick was the most entertaining part
Is the blue guy a Knee ?
Reggie B The Kree
Was this in the Fall of '91 ?
coulda been a cool cartoon from back 80s-90s
If only it had lasted.
Founded this on an old vhs my dad found while thrifting it always felt weird but incomplete I have always wonder what happed and what was it
i still have some of the solarman comics from marvel
so many cartoons i never seen
He was in Superman 4 minus the watch
Superman put him in a elevator and sealed him in it on the moon
Before replanting the American flag.
Remember.
Cool. : )
Lyrics by Stan Lee. Oy.
Firestorm downgraded or got fired from super friends
Holy shit, cancel Age of Ultron and give us a Solarman film! Make it happen Marvel!
it was in the form of Masters of The Universe
Does anyone know what happened to this drawing? I don't find any information about
There's no excuse for this (and Defenders of Dynatron City) not being on on Disney + these days.
Some of music q's reused in pretty much every comic series in early 90s.
Looks similar to GL origin..abun sur..etc ..and circlet used like GL ring
The intro & the theme song is pretty cool....the only thing that ruins it for me is the excessive explosion sound effects. (Personally, I blame Michael Bay for this.)
Was this released on VHS or only TV broadcast on Fox?
SkeletonHug fox
SkeletonHug Both, actually. The VHS was released as a cross promotional tie-in with the first issue of this incarnation of Solarman, and was shown on Fox Kids one week before the 90's X-Men cartoon premiered.
So tell me if you've heard this a dying alien
GREEN LANTERN...that's the Green Lantern
Okay how about a kid
Captain Marvel
Well how about a Solar
Fucking Superman
But he has
LUKE SKYWALKER!!!
this hero remind me of that sidekick hero in the simpson
Jean Grey (Phoenix) is a girl superhero
Im sure he'd get along well with my pal Captain Planet
Dude looks like Firelord.
I never heard of this cartoon
If Marvel make solar man it beat and I wish I directed solar man
Isn't this the villain from Superman 3?
Wait a minute, one of us is right, one is wrong. S1 is when he made time go backwards to save LL. S2 is when he fought General Zod. S3 is the one with Richard Pryor(sorry if I spelled his name wrong)..........Oh, yeah, he fought that machine at the end..............guess you are right. I'm losing my nerd, lol.
Solarmaaaan!! Solarmaaaaaaan!!
Does anyone know the lyrics of Solarman
Yes. Solarman is in Marvel comics and then Solar Man is in Mega Man 10 by Capcom. Appeared.
It was only broadcast on fox I think marvel Sunbow did this but it never took
It did have a deal to become a series from an animation studio, but it was withdrawn when an advisor for said studio said superhero cartoons on Saturday Morning would be a dead trend.
Did the blue chick blow up too?
Only you... can prevent forest fires.
Classic

So Solarman was some kind of super sayan?
why the fuck this was never a cartoon back then, but a canceled series?
cause it didn't have a rippin heavy metal intro song.
ADAM WARLOCK
Mein gott !! it's Boris Johnson's alter ego. They should have made another character named GlobalWarming girl. Together they have a child called Apocalips.
See, blonds do have more fun!!
This is 80's not 90's : TheyStoleMyBrain
