Hi :) Weighing in on my 24 hour shift. I got off work at 8 am today. I put the foundation on around 6 am the day before so I wore it more than 24 hours. It’s pretty amazing. I put my mask on and off 14 times. ( A nice slow shift. Only 14 patients ) Thank you to True Baronesse for her take on the color choices. I too bought the MC2. This is the second foundation that I bought in the cool option and I’m always neutral. I think you should try it as I think we have the same coloring. I didn’t like the yellow hue in the 9 and the 7 seemed a little yellow as well. But, they both looked great on you after it settled down. Thanks for another great review 😘
I have been using Lancome Teint Idole Foundation since it was introduced many years ago. When YSL was offering buy one get one free a while back I decided to try their foundation because I needed to restock. I love the YSL full coverage transfer resistant longwearing formula. I am a 59 year old skincare junkie with combination skin. The YSL foundation gives such a smooth flawless look and blends easily. On more low key days when I am not doing a full on glam look I use the IT Cosmetics CC creme in the illumination formula. Thanks for the review on the new YSL product formulation. I will have to try it when I run out.
I've been searching for reviews of this one for weeks now, OMG thank you!!! The OG All Hours is my favourite foundation of all time and I am (sadly) not too happy with the reformulation. I think it looks gorgeous for the evening, but during the day I find it to be too luminous. I also feel like it's too drying on my skin, ie. I feel "tightness" after an hour of wearing it (it's interesting, because the OG also has alcohol very high on inci list, but for some reason it never felt tight on my face). It does look awesome on fine lines though, very smoothing. As for the shade - I used B30 in the OG. According to YSL guide I should be LN9 in the new one, but after testing it turns out the MC2 in the new one is my best match (despite it being a "cool" shade... it's not rosey at all, but a slightly olive neutral 🤷🏻♀). Since we are shade twins, I recommend you try MC2.
What you just said is very helpful for me even though I'm cool-toned. I used to wear BR40 which was sort of olive & oddly enough worked beautifully! My skin has lighten quite a bit & looking at the light shades none seem to have that magical olive... Therefore your confirming MC2 is sort of olive and it's light enough for a B30 gives me confidence in the shade. Brands are getting strange with their light shades making them all light peach or yellow when all skin tones still need a touch of olive. Thanks for sharing detailed info!!! 🤍 Ps... I used the saie glowy primer , tatcha Dewy skin cream , exfoliated w Paula’s choice liquid exfoliant (I have very dry skin w some texture) topped with CT setting spray and my face looked perfect! I used the MC2 n loved it..I am light medium neutral n lean a little on the cool side! I like to go a shade or 2 darker bc it covers my dark spots without turning those areas in my face gray! Plus once I get my concealer n powder on it lightens too much! I fell asleep in it last night n this morning it still looked perfect !!! My rule of thumb w color is always go darker bc it’s easier to lighten a foundation w some white pigment that it is to darken it plus you can use the same bottle in the summer! I think this may be my new favorite even over my Valentino and guerlain! I love a luminous matte where I don’t look drier than I am but I don’t have to use powder if I don’t want to!
Definitely 9, The old formula was my absolute favorite. Alcohol doesn’t bother me I have dry skin. I will apply my own sunscreen. As you stated almost every brand has skin care ingredients. I will be picking this up during the Sephora sale.
Was awaiting for your review on this one, as you’d alluded it was coming in a previous video. A few months ago, I received a 4-shade sample of the former version in a Sephora order and fell hard for the formulation and was wowed by the great match of one shade in particular. I went online at that point to buy the full bottle, only to realize by the markdown and couple of shades left on every retailer that I checked that it was a discontinued formula. Why Sephora would send out a sample to drive trial of nearly disco’d items is beyond me. I was so happy to see it coming back but, alas, no new shade aligned to the one I’d loved before. So I’ve taken a stab at a shade and fingers crossed when it delivers next week, it is good. (Side note, went into a lower volume Sephora yesterday and saw that particular location had the old formula with just a couple left on shelf and my shade was one of them! So at least I got that one -and at a clearance price - and now I can compare the new one when it comes in.) I ordered LW9 for me and I really liked the LN9 on you!
Both shades looked great! Lol I have absolutely no issues with alcohol in skin products. I’ve used them all my life as an oily skin girl and as long as you moisturize, you’re good. Dr. Dray mentions it all the time how alcohols in skincare are completely safe.
I totally agree. It really is just there for the dry down but people get very upset by the mere mention of it. I have been wearing this foundation with no problems and no dryness. It’s a beautiful foundation. Thank you so much for your opinion on the shade. You are right. They are very hard to tell apart
Hey Rebecca I like that seven better because I like a little lighter look think it’s more flattering. I still like my LaMer soft fluid foundation for colder weather coming up but I do like this Matte one and I might consider this
I really like this! I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between the 2 different sides until you pointed it out. I steer clear of matte and semi matte foundations because my skin is so darn dry! But I have found that YSL foundations as a whole are really nice. I wore the Touché Eclat foundation for a few years and I believe it had alcohol in it as well. It was very nice but a bit dewier. If I had to choose, I would keep the 9.
I think I need to keep the nine also. The seven is actually getting some high votes here but the nine is definitely the hands-down winner. It’s for sure denatured alcohol which is likely just there for the dry down but they recommend a lot of moisturizer underneath to combat it so that’s an admission right there. It’s a beautiful foundation and it rivals only the Estee Lauder double wear. I’m not generally one for heavier foundations but I do tend to get compliments when I’m wearing heavier foundations so perhaps I should start taking the hint! Ha ha.
I think they are both light for you. Maybe try a slightly darker shade. Or just keep 9 and return 7. You made it work regardless. Thanks for the review. No one is talking about this new reformulated version. The bottle is gorgeous.
@@reginal2626 I actually did not see any change in the shade except for the fact that as it settled into my skin it looked smoother and more skin like but no shade change.
LW 1, 7, 8 or 9. All are light with warm undertones like your previous match. If you look at the degrees, it goes from the fairest light warm to the deepest while still light warm. Supposedly. It’s also preference for how you like it to appear on the face among those four light warm shades.
Hi lovely Rebecca !! Thanks for reviewing this foundation . I really liked the old formula although didn’t end up replacing it 😂. Always use a separate sunscreen . I don’t really worry about fragrance or Alcohol unless it feels tight on the skin . Would definitely pick this up once shade matched . Love the 9 on you 🥰💕
Hello Bridges! I think the nine is definitely a winner and for the amount of alcohol this product has, I was surprised that there was no tightness on the face and no doctors office scent.
I got LN9, although I'm a good bit lighter than you. I found it to be okay, but quite orange! Did you find it to be orange? I think I'm going to return and get the LN7. I also can never decide on a shade and almost always have to mix LOL
I prefer the 9. Comparing the old formula with this new and improved one, was alcohol also the 3rd ingredient in the older version? If not I wonder why they felt the need to add it in the new ratio?
Yippee 😄 I've been waiting for this! So nothing compares to fragrance like my Givenchy Prisme Libre (and it's not even the nice meteorite scent), wish I knew someone to pass it on to but I'm off topic... The original was thick, full coverage & matte, this one looks more natural. What I liked about the original as I discovered over time was any picture of myself I wasn't horrified about I realized I was wearing All Hours!!🧐 It became the one I trusted for events. Now I don't go to events so who cares?? 😂 It's worth a try to me if I can find a light cool-toned shade. I'm so frustrated with shades, I wish they'd figure out a way to send testers or require brands to produce sample cards, I'd pay for them but off topic again... Thanks for reviewing this one, and I like it when you apply a lot it helps to see it. I almost died laughing when you squirted the first pump right onto your desk & looked for it😂🤣 And I vote for #9!!
📢🎉🎊 Foundation alert!! Honestly Rebecca, I can barely see a difference in the shades. Maybe lucky number 7 is a tidge brighter on you. But what do I know at 3am with a glass of wine under my belt? 🤣🍷👀
Negligible difference, but yes, #9 looks just a bit more flattering. And I couldn't care less about alcohol in a product. I have dry, sensitive skin and have no problem at all slithering on my sunscreen that reeks of hand sanitiser.
Oh it's SO true. Sunscreen DOES reek of hand sanitizer. It's so true. And I'm not sure that it really affects our skin. I tend to agree with you. It burns off and we moisturize. Thank you for the opinion on the shade. I feel like 9 is a clear win.
I prefer the 9 always a bit darker is better I think - also does the alcohol make it so you don't need to set w/powder? I can't stand anything tacky....
I sound like a broken record every time you put me to work, sorry!! My opinion always seems to be the same, though. I prefer the 7: brighter, more youthful. Yes, when you first apply it, it’s too light. BUT when it dries and morphs into the canvas that’s the anchor for the colorful parts, your skin does look brighter, more young-looking. Just my usual $.02. Love ya!!!!! 🥰💖
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I wish!! I am kind of the opposite of a trend setter, but thank you!! Speaking of trend setter, that’s you!!!!! How would we all be able to live without the confetti and party horns in our lives when it’s foundation time????? Answer that, Jack!!!! 😃🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊💖
It's so amazing you can return make up in America! The hundreds of pounds i've wasted on bad colour matches here in the uk is shocking and i'm far from rich! Oh and definitely 9!
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I think because it has never been an option in the uk it means I am much more careful with my purchases. @@lydia56 oh my goodness yes! I used to donate too. Now gotta be new. And really I should return more. To be honest. Just to get more cash flow. Let’s be honest. It’s real.
That is so frustrating because, if they only had it in, you could save money. But I also wonder if all the shades are sold out in Selfridge’s because they had the old stock and are waiting for the new formula to arrive. We will have to keep an eye on the site.
Hi! I am having issues with this foundation 🥺 after a while it seems blotchy on my skin... I use primer and setting powder and wondering if I should skip those steps... I switched over from Huda .... Help please!
Yes!!! Try no primer and no powder. That will tell us. I feel the foundation will not be disturbed that way. Then add in primer for about a week or a little less and see if it stays and, if it does, we will know it’s the powder. I think we need a bit of a process of elimination but I agree that it is either the primer or the powder. Let’s start there and keep me updated.
I haven’t worn it for days on end but, with moisturizer, it’s honestly been just fine. Seems more for the dry down. And I don’t smell that weird alcohol scent.
Well I like the darker side better. But what is strange is that we are usually a shade match and I got MN 5 and it worked like a charm. 🤷🏻♀️. Great video as always Rebecca.
That’s it, Beth, you and I are going into business together! “New Re-Beth Foundation. Now with barrel aged bourbon for that drunken haze look to the skin!”
I don’t mind alcohol as there’s different kinds of alcohol and denatured alcohol is used just for a dry down, well from what u have read. Most Korean brand sunscreens have denatured alcohol and I’m not sensitive to it. If you’re worried, just moisturize a bit more beforehand. I like ln7 better on you. Looks a bit brighter under the eyes and overall complexion 🎉
I preferred the 9 when all you had applied was the foundation. However, once you were wearing your full face (of make up) I would say the difference looked negligible 😊💕
This by far is the best foundation ever. I can't use it because it has denatured alcohol. I even called the company to PLEASE take out the dena. alcohol . I have dry skin and although it looked flawless it dried out my skin terribly. I would never buy another foundation . HONEST
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. I am SO sorry to hear that. It's perfect but dries out your skin. OH NO. Even with a ton of moisturizer under it? But that's a silly solution. Sigh. I am so sorry.
@@mariamercedes9338 So frustrating. Yes. Makes sense that you are no stranger to moisturizer. Darn it. Gotta go dewy with the foundation, I suppose. SIGH.

I think this may be my new favorite even over my Valentino and guerlain! I love a luminous matte where I don’t look drier than I am but I don’t have to use powder if I don’t want to!
Also I found the neutrals to be pretty yellow!!!! If you ever try this again try MC2 or MC1!!!
I bet you looked absolutely gorgeous!
Great video,right side looks brighter
Ooo number 7 is gaining in votes!
Definitely 9, The old formula was my absolute favorite. Alcohol doesn’t bother me I have dry skin. I will apply my own sunscreen. As you stated almost every brand has skin care ingredients. I will be picking this up during the Sephora sale.
I will be interested to hear your thoughts when you compare. I am getting mixed opinions on it!
Oooo Pam!!! IF the shade match in the new formula works for you and IF you have the time, please let us know what the differences are that you see!
I still like my LaMer soft fluid foundation for colder weather coming up but I do like this Matte one and I might consider this
Oh Janet, I used to LOVE my La Mer foundation. I need to revisit that.
GOOD points, Regina. I have a shade twin here in the comments and she recommended a different, darker shade too. The bottle IS gorgeous, isn't it?
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty yes it is! Does this foundation oxidize?
@@reginal2626 I actually did not see any change in the shade except for the fact that as it settled into my skin it looked smoother and more skin like but no shade change.
How can I convert my shade if I used to be BD30 Warm Almond?
LW 1, 7, 8 or 9. All are light with warm undertones like your previous match. If you look at the degrees, it goes from the fairest light warm to the deepest while still light warm. Supposedly. It’s also preference for how you like it to appear on the face among those four light warm shades.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty thanks!
7, looks much brighter 😍
7 is gaining traction, Claire!
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Thanks lovely I will definitely get a sample of it for sure x
@@bridgettucker3692 ♥️❤️💕
I like the 9!
That’s the one I usually grab!
I got LN9, although I'm a good bit lighter than you. I found it to be okay, but quite orange! Did you find it to be orange? I think I'm going to return and get the LN7. I also can never decide on a shade and almost always have to mix LOL
Michelle! Yes yes yes. The LN9 is too orange. The Ln7 is much brighter. Yes you are right.
Save the 9 for Summer. I can’t wait till my store gets the new 1 although I am hooked to Haus Labs, my match is dead on with that!
Oh Belinda, the Haus Labs foundation is SUCH a winner!
I prefer the 9. Comparing the old formula with this new and improved one, was alcohol also the 3rd ingredient in the older version? If not I wonder why they felt the need to add it in the new ratio?
Hello Maria! Yes, alcohol featured prominently in the original as well. Not sure where on the ingredient list but up there. Yes. For sure.
Hahahahaha Cindy!!!! I totally was like “Where did that foundation squirt to???” Hahaha. I didn’t find it until later!!! Hahahaha.
📢🎉🎊 Foundation alert!! Honestly Rebecca, I can barely see a difference in the shades. Maybe lucky number 7 is a tidge brighter on you. But what do I know at 3am with a glass of wine under my belt? 🤣🍷👀
Hey, that 3 am, wine induced opinion is more valid than most!
Light neutral nine ❤is my favourite
That's definitely in the lead in votes here, Sara!
Hey I'm a Nurse Aide and work in Long Term Care. I've also ordered it.
Hello Cyndi! I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on the product!
I prefer the 9 always a bit darker is better I think - also does the alcohol make it so you don't need to set w/powder? I can't stand anything tacky....
No tacky feeling, Renee. Yay!
I prefer the 9 but like you said you can’t tell the difference once make up is finished. But I’d say stick with the 9 ❤
I think 9 is the winner here, too, Julie.
You know that your two cents is priceless to me. Votes for 7 are now really coming in. You’ve started a trend, trend setter!
@@MissBeeeBeee I honestly think the confetti and horns are here to stay for foundation products!
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty YESSSS!!!!!! That’s what I’m talking about. Trend setter. 😃🥰🥰🥰💖
@@MissBeeeBeee hahahaha. Yes. Hahahahahaha.
I like the ln7 😊 it’s brighter
Oooooo 7 is gaining on 9 now!
I think LN9 works the best.
Have an awesome week!
Thank you so much! So appreciative of you weighing in!
It's so amazing you can return make up in America! The hundreds of pounds i've wasted on bad colour matches here in the uk is shocking and i'm far from rich! Oh and definitely 9!
Hello Lydia! You know. I rarely return. It feels so wasteful. I always feel like I need to use it or give it a good home. That’s strange I know
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty I think because it has never been an option in the uk it means I am much more careful with my purchases. We used to be able to donate products to domestic abuse charities to help others who had escaped and were in hardship, but sadly its no longer in operation. I would never throw anything out though, it finds a home because as you say, it's so wasteful!
@@lydia56 oh my goodness yes! I used to donate too. Now gotta be new. And really I should return more. To be honest. Just to get more cash flow. Let’s be honest. It’s real.
All the shades are sold out at Selfridges and it's 36$ there. I always do the 1 year shipping like you.
That is so frustrating because, if they only had it in, you could save money. But I also wonder if all the shades are sold out in Selfridge’s because they had the old stock and are waiting for the new formula to arrive. We will have to keep an eye on the site.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty no they had my shade but by the time I decided on it the shade sold out.
@@vaishaliwilliams7679 Darn it. I was hoping they'd be getting them in soon. ARGH.
I don’t mind alcohol ! It’s the fragrance in products that bothers me x but all my faves contain it
I’m like you. I just have to accept the darn fragrance because it’s in my favorite products. Totally agreed
I see you spoke about this having alcohol in it. Do you think this is one to skip if you have dry skin.?
I haven’t worn it for days on end but, with moisturizer, it’s honestly been just fine. Seems more for the dry down. And I don’t smell that weird alcohol scent.
Well I like the darker side better. But what is strange is that we are usually a shade match and I got MN 5 and it worked like a charm. 🤷🏻♀️. Great video as always Rebecca.
Ahhhhhh!!! Someone recommended I do an MN shade earlier in comments so I think you might be on to something here!!!!
Is the fragrance strong?
Not at all. And then gone before you know it. But it’s there
Hi Rebecca, both side's look absolutely beautiful but if I wanted to be picky, would say the one on right, warmed tone.❤️😂
That's the shade that appears to be winning, Rebecca. For sure.
I wouldn’t care if they put whiskey in it! I think YSL knows what they’re doing in creating makeup and trust them. LN9 Fan over here 👋
That’s it, Beth, you and I are going into business together! “New Re-Beth Foundation. Now with barrel aged bourbon for that drunken haze look to the skin!”
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you literally had me laughing out loud to my dog about this!! Im in! Cheers 🥂!!!
Ok, I responded, reread what you wrote, and I’m still laughing out loud to myself…must be the alcohol in my makeup 🤣
@@YT247Now A sip for me. A bit for my skin. A sip for me. A bit for my skin.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty 🤣❤️
I don’t mind alcohol as there’s different kinds of alcohol and denatured alcohol is used just for a dry down, well from what u have read. Most Korean brand sunscreens have denatured alcohol and I’m not sensitive to it. If you’re worried, just moisturize a bit more beforehand.
I like ln7 better on you. Looks a bit brighter under the eyes and overall complexion 🎉
Hello Ana! Great message for readers. Yes. That’s what ysl says. Just moisturize first. Doesn’t worry me but many people get very concerned.
Try to mix together 😊 😉 ,I enjoyed watching this video ❤️
I love them mixed together. It’s a great suggestion and thank you so much for the kind words
Hi! Which do you like better? This ysl or the Giorgio armani power fabric plus? Thanks please tell me the difference and smoother on skin 🤍
I feel like the YSL has a nicer finish from the start, looks smoother and stays bright all day long. I like Armani but def prefer the YSL.
I like the 9 but I don’t think you need full coverage at all.
Well you are very very kind. And it is true that, for comfort levels, I appreciate light medium for sure
I preferred the 9 when all you had applied was the foundation. However, once you were wearing your full face (of make up) I would say the difference looked negligible 😊💕
Right, Whitney? Totally negligible!
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty No worries I appreciate your advice. I moisturize constantly . Thank you
@@mariamercedes9338 So frustrating. Yes. Makes sense that you are no stranger to moisturizer. Darn it. Gotta go dewy with the foundation, I suppose. SIGH.
9 for sure
9 is way winning in comments, Veronica. And others say NEITHER shade.
I like shade 9 better on you. At first I thought 7 until I saw the demo and it’s too light on you. I absolutely love the old formula so I can imagine this is good.
I am hearing very mixed reviews from devotees of the original, Cheryl.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty oh no then ima cry because I love the original
@@cherylb_88 Some saying better tho....!
Wow Rebecca, you review new products like nobody! So fast! I’ve never tried aYSL foundation, and this one contains SPF which is what I might like. However, any foundations that contain SPF will most likely only coming to Canada 1 year later after it launches 😅 We just got Kosas foundation showing up at Sephora Canada yesterday!😂
By the way, I like 9 on your skin😊
Nine is winning so far, Antonia! Oh YES, the darn sunscreen makes it have to be reviewed and testing and it becomes almost a government thing which only SLOWS everything down. Darn it.
I think 9
That appears to be the winner so far!
Hard to say; I like the 9.
9 is winning so far, Laura.
I've never tried the YSL foundation but SPF 30 is a no from me i like to put my own SPF on and it shortens the life of the foundation when they add SPF. Think I'll give this one a miss
Debbie, it TOTALLY shortens the life of the foundation. Just let me put on my OWN sunscreen, thank you, you know?
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty Ya and if your going out for the evening you can't wear a foundation with SPF in it, you don't want to spend all night avoiding any photos 🤣
The dreaded flashback!
The 9 looked a tad too warm…
It IS very warm for a neutral. I agree.
This new version still contains alcohol (in third place again) and fragrance so why bother reformulating it? I won't be buying this one either.
Hello Maria! We do talk about alcohol and scent and that alcohol is the third ingredient. So I definitely agree with you
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty My apologies Rebecca I should have started my comment with "since this new version..." I got so excited when you said it had been reformulated thinking they had taken out the denatured alcohol. But no😔. Another comprehensive and informative review.
