Point of clarification: 麻辣 (málà) is two different kinds of spiciness combined: 麻 (má) is the tingling, numbing spiciness of Sichuan peppercorn, and 辣 (là) is the burning heat of chili peppers.
I’m so glad that you’ve gotten your sense of taste back after Covid. I was so worried and sad that you wouldn’t. I love seeing you try all these new things and telling us all about their taste and textures. Thank you ❤️
I watch a couple interesting Vietnamese videos of mountain off-grid farm living, and on one of the recent ones, the mom made some thick wide noodles. Even more interesting was that using local harvested plants boiled in water, produced natural dyes that she added to the rice part of the recipe! Then she ended up with several colors of wide noodles. It was pretty cool! Took three days to make though.😂
These look delicious. My daughter got me listening to K-Pop, C-Pop and watching movies and TV shows from other countries. My nephew served over in Korea so we tried tteokbokki. We found cup bokki brand from Amazon & at first it blew our head off but we have some about 3 or 4 nights a week and it's delicious. Now I'm adding gochujaru and gochujang to everything.
I always thought I would hate chili oil, because I really don't like spicy foods. I received ramen packets as a gift, and it came with chili oil. I thought I'd give it a try. I loved it. I think because the oil coats the tongue it made it easier to eat. I had to take a break halfway through the bowl, but it was so good.
I opt for the mild chili oil and even then, I always add it sparingly because it has just the right amount of heat for me! It goes great on sushi and beef!
you can custom your chili oil if you make them yourself. as what chili power/flakes, extra spices or ingredients you use determine what it tastes like. you can absolutely make a chill oil that has low heat but still rich in chili fragrance.
I NEED to try those. Your description of the noodle texture has me absolutely hooked. They look so fantastic, I'll most certainly be on the hunt for them.
All I can see is this fascinating shirt! Dogigator?!!!! I love Emmy’s style and her ability to maintain objective perspective on various foods, and I can always rely on her to relay the scents!!! Critical aspect! Omg, I do love tofu skin - now I’m gonna watch. 😂
I'm sorry that you're developing sensitivity to wheat but I'm so excited about all the gluten-free stuff now! I am super interested in trying this out!
@@AshleyNebs I agree! Even if my immune system didn't freak out over so many food categories, I'd still really enjoy finding things that are new to me!
@@therewillbecatswithgwenhwyfar , when I found out that she was having problems with wheat, I secretly got excited (hoping for more GF recipes or foods.) Not that I want that for anyone, because I myself have problems with gluten, but I trust her judgment. We seem to share similar tastes and textures, and if she likes it, there’s a pretty good chance that I will too, plus I love spice. 😁
I think second one is Liangpi. And it's a cold skin noodles. You supposed to cook them, then run under cold water and mix with seasonings. The dish that popular in the summer
Vi Emmy thanks for all your reviews 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 can you please in a future video review the Nommi noodles, I believe they are oat noodles also wheat free🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hey Emmy, you should try the hack that turns rice paper into noodles! the texture is really really similar to what you're describing. For me it was a bit too chewy (and I like things to not be overcooked)
I remember the super hot noodle challenges from years ago. Fun to watch Emmy sweat and win those challenges💪. I miss the days of Emmy recording in her cute kitchen.
I am confused, you said that they are Cassava / sweet potato noodles, but those are two different things, are they a combination of cassava and sweet potato? and is Konjac noodles the same thing? thanks for the info!
When I put water over cups of noodles I actually put everything in a ceramic bawl that has a similar volume to those cups. I eyeball the proportions of water to noodle by what is on the plastic cup, and just translate it in my head. So I get noodles, but no cooking in plastic. It does add some dishes to wash, though.
I feel like I’ve had those thick noodles before from my usual hot pot place. They have a selection of different kinds of noodles, including vermicelli, glass noodles, ramen, buckwheat, rice cakes and stuff. But they just called this specific one “Wide Noodles” and it was thick, bouncy, and chewy but not in a rubber band resistance kind of way. So good!
I just had some of these in last nights hot pot (like Korean barbecue, but with soup). They're really chewy and really good. You obviously don't need to have them with so much chili oil.
These look DELICIOUS, but I don't eat gluten too. Does either have soy sauce in them ? Thank you for sharing your grocery store finds. A thoroughly enjoyable video 😊
Anytime there's a package of oil and solid stuff like chili oil with the crisp bits and paste or the oil separated from a peanut sauce, ya gotta massage the stuff together before opening and then it'll squeeze out a lot easier!
We have a local restaurant that labels food "mild is medium," "medium is HOT and hot is DEVASTATING." Interestingly, I find the "hot" noodles to be just a little hot, while my table-mates choke on "mild." Emmy, we're probably noodle twinsees. 😂
Where's my bib? ❤ I hope you're well this week! It looks fun to eat and, I saw my grandchild today! She'll be one in December, i just wanted to share the good news. ❤
Was the first package you tried Japchae, or am I thinking about something else? I'd love to know if there is a milder version. I am not up to your level of expertise with the spicy foods. 😅
I ate Cassava Chips coated with Mala sauce in Singapore. It was painfully spicy. I learned my baby tongue can only handle gochujang level of spiciness and nothing more.
Point of clarification: 麻辣 (málà) is two different kinds of spiciness combined: 麻 (má) is the tingling, numbing spiciness of Sichuan peppercorn, and 辣 (là) is the burning heat of chili peppers.
I've definitely learned over the years that if Emmy says something is "not too spicy" I am probably going to die. 🔥
I still do the adding of kewpie mayo to my noodles and I find it can balance the spicy heat. Well, until I get my hot sauce out. :)
😅😅😅😂
😂😂😂
Haaaaaa!
Well said! It's totally the truth though!

Different instant noodles soups also come with different chili oils. Some are mild and some feel like molten metal

Me too!

emmys videos are soooo comforting!!!
I just cooked sweet potato wide noodles with sukiyaki style broth earlier. Yum yum. So chewy
I'm sorry that you're developing sensitivity to wheat but I'm so excited about all the gluten-free stuff now! I am super interested in trying this out!
I'm not sensitive to wheat but love getting a variety of new plant proteins, grains, and vegetables in noodles and things like this! It's a fun time!
@@AshleyNebs I agree! Even if my immune system didn't freak out over so many food categories, I'd still really enjoy finding things that are new to me!
Luckily we can eat anything. I can't drink soy but sometimes I can eat it.😊

Hi Emmy! I love your videos! They’re always so comfy and I turn them on when I need to just relax after a long day. Thank you for existing! ❤️
Alternative for cooking in the plastic is to put it in a bowl and cover with the silicone plate that is used for microwave platter.
Bibibop has thin sweet potato noodles. They are my newest obsession. I wish I could handle the heat. I know I would love those noodles.

8:39 caught the trader joes instant ramen shade
I swear, you make everything look good.
The noodles look so delicious!
Hey Emmy, you should try the hack that turns rice paper into noodles!
the texture is really really similar to what you're describing. For me it was a bit too chewy (and I like things to not be overcooked)
I'm pretty sure I need this in my life.
This T shirt of yours is my favorite of all the ones you wear!
I LOVE sweet potato noodles. So chewy, springy and slurpy!
Oooo buldak has a beautiful wide noodle rosé version I love it’s available pretty readily at HMart but they are so amazingly good.
Thanks for making me excited to try!!

Emmy, I am addicted to the Crunchy garlic with chili oil you show us on another video.
Ugh i miss these sm 😩
Hi Emmy. Can you please make a dish with tofu skin. Thanks 🙏
Emmy, you just get more lovely by the day my dear! And I'm going to order these and try them because I'm very intrigued by the size of these noodles.
Looks so good 🤤🤤🤤
I remember the super hot noodle challenges from years ago. Fun to watch Emmy sweat and win those challenges💪. I miss the days of Emmy recording in her cute kitchen.
And the occasional belch :)
I LOVE this type of thick sweet potato noodle. The texture is soooo delicious.
“spicy but not too spicy” is a red flag for me! 😂 🥵
Emmy has some of the coolest t-shirts.
Truth!
You are The Greatest Emmy!
Awesome video, Emmy! Big fat noodles 🍜
I found the first one and making it tonight I’m excited … will stock up on these
emmy we love u!!! Greetings from Uruguay!
And adding greetings Argentina style!
Would you please make a dish called, “Drunken Noodles?” I can’t find a restaurant in the US Southeast that serves this and I really love it!
It's pad kee mao. Delicious!
I love tofu skin so much. A local restaurant uses it in several dishes and I cannot get enough. I may have to look for this!
These noodles in hotpot are simply the best!!!
Those look wooooonderful!
I've had these and they are sooooo good!
I'm going to be on a hunt for those noodles! Love, love , love noodles!
I'd love to see Emmy try Luosifen!
I am confused, you said that they are Cassava / sweet potato noodles, but those are two different things, are they a combination of cassava and sweet potato? and is Konjac noodles the same thing? thanks for the info!
One of my favorite noodle in hotpot ❤

So I get noodles, but no cooking in plastic.

Adding some beef slice will complete a meal

Noodle play! 🤗 🍜
Hey Emmy- it’s incredible how thick they are!!!! I’m still waiting for the day for you to try Campbelled Eggs. ❤❤❤
I just had some of these in last nights hot pot (like Korean barbecue, but with soup). They're really chewy and really good. You obviously don't need to have them with so much chili oil.
sick shirt Emmy
Not sure how you would do this, but I would totally love to buy a set of emmymade brand chopsticks.
I always wondered what it would be like to eat one of my old wrist slap bracelets from the early 90's. Thanks Emmy. Nice tan, btw.
These look DELICIOUS, but I don't eat gluten too. Does either have soy sauce in them ?
Thank you for sharing your grocery store finds. A thoroughly enjoyable video 😊
If you try the 2nd one again use a glass bowl and see if it changes the taste.
Thank you so much!
Anytime there's a package of oil and solid stuff like chili oil with the crisp bits and paste or the oil separated from a peanut sauce, ya gotta massage the stuff together before opening and then it'll squeeze out a lot easier!
I just had these a month ago, got them from HMart! Not the most nutritious but I loved them!
Omg! Where’s my bib?!? Please tell me it’s gluten free! Did I miss that part? I need to try this! I’m sorry I’m so excited! 😆
Just like erasers? Yum!
We have a local restaurant that labels food "mild is medium," "medium is HOT and hot is DEVASTATING." Interestingly, I find the "hot" noodles to be just a little hot, while my table-mates choke on "mild." Emmy, we're probably noodle twinsees. 😂
Cool!
Where's my bib?
❤ I hope you're well this week! It looks fun to eat and, I saw my grandchild today! She'll be one in December, i just wanted to share the good news. ❤
Really enjoy learning how new instant noodles taste.
- mango
What are the brands?
Where can we buy the noodles Emmy?
The ones in the bowl were harder to find but Temu has them…for now.
TianXiaoHua Wide Flat Noodles, Sour and Spicy
I could never eat that heat, but, the noodles look fantastic! 👍🧡
beware of gutter oil to cut costs
The first bag of noodles is my go to instant noodle ... its even better with a poached egg
Those look so good, wish you mentioned the brand in the description.
Wish we could eat spicy like everyone else 😊 I am allergic to soy milk so might be allergic to the soy beans.
how long until we get one of these and it's just like, halved lasagna sheets?
😂
Black pepper is too spicy for this bland girl, so i don't think i could handle anything Emmie makes, but I love these videos!
Me too! I don't do spicy hot or temperature hot.
Looks like Biang Biang noodles
"What are they like?"
"Beef jerkey, erasers and wood." 🙂
Wow havent seen your videos in such long time where have you been?
Where? Where? Where can I find these?
I really want to try the second noodle
Yum
You might try wheat products from the EU, (they don’t use the nasty sprays on the wheat)
Love the fit today Girl!
Thanks for posting, perfect time for foing to bed here
does anyone have an amazon link for these?
Can you up load where you get this on line
Where's my bib? Lol, I just put my bib in the laundry because I spilled pizza on it today.
Was the first package you tried Japchae, or am I thinking about something else?
I'd love to know if there is a milder version. I am not up to your level of expertise with the spicy foods. 😅
My wife and I refer to Emmy as my UA-cam crush.
Just thought I would share 😂
Could/Would you make it without the chili oil but with your own favorite broth?
Will I ever eat this? No because I'm a wimp on spice but do I always watch Emmy videos yes
She needs to try Maruchan's line of their fire wok noodles
My kingdom for a link to a store I can buy the first ramen from. Pleeeeeze...
are these suitable for vegetarians?
What are these called?
I have heard them called glass noodles
I ate Cassava Chips coated with Mala sauce in Singapore. It was painfully spicy.
I learned my baby tongue can only handle gochujang level of spiciness and nothing more.
Where's my bib? And where can I find these noodles?
