@mrshinyshoes Well... that one time he did a televised solo performance of "I Need To Be In Love" in the mid-to-late 1990's, he actually sounded pretty good. I mentioned in the video (elsewhere on UA-cam), that he kind of sounded like Art Garfunkel, now that he's much older. Now.... whether or not you like the Simon & Garfunkel sound, that's something else... but me, I happen to like their sound too!
Shure "let go" but we don't all have such a talent as they do, and such a lofty jobs they had there-'Love' she didn't love herself enough( somethings missing in everyone on earth)-we need love-case in point! )O: (O:
@shankpool I'm sorry but you're wrong when you say "there is no greater fan off the carpenters than me" 'cause I'm much more fan than anyone in the world, I don´t even have words to say how muh I love and miss them and their lovely music.
Karen sings both verses. I thought Richard was to sing the second verse. So I wonder also on the A&M studio session if it was originally done with Karen singing the lead vocals through the whole song. Unreleased this way if possible.
As far as I know Karen did record 2nd verse by her own but she didn't think it sounds right so she passed it to Richard's vocals. Most of their real live concert Richard forced her to sing his part. It also applied to a lot of their songs which were recorded by Richard like "Turn Away" and "Get Together" from their first album.

Another little gem from this concert - it's all very much worth watching! :)
Thank-you so much for posting!!!!
Do you know where I can get this concert on video/dvd or anything please?
Just listened to this song about ten times in a row today. Simple and awesome. KC on drums! Karen has become my Muse over the last month.
Seeing this made me weep. I listen to this song every day. Hearing her live is such a treat. Thanks so much for posting.

Catchy song. I've always loved their upbeat jazzy stuff too!
This girl IS great, I love her,
