- To his friends, hes Mr. Dynamo. To his doctors, hes a miracle. To the rest of the world, hes The Hawk, the Arkansas-born King of Rockabilly who made Canada his home and his stage for more than four decades. Hes still rocking the house today against all odds.
In this feature length documentary, director Anne Pick spends a roller coaster year and a half with The Hawk, from his diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer in 2002 through to his mysterious recovery. He was told he was a dead man.
Beautiful!! Go and get Ronnie's early recordings. Master class stuff!! The real deal. Rock n 'Roll heaven, with ballads on the side.
Ronny is a legend in Can. roc and did many gigs with him. I dropped into a car dealership on Bay street just after I'd heard he''d bought his first Rolls Royce. I did this because no other Can. music artist to that point (with the exception of maybe Paul Anka) had ever made any money to speak of and I wanted to check out this rumour............Keep it goin' Hawk!!!
Played on a stage in Marvell, Arkansas that this guy once stood on. As did Levon Helm and Conway Twitty. I'm told they used to have a battle of the bands in Helena, Arkansas in the late fifties pitting The Hawks against Conway and Conway would always have to pack up and go home. Don't get me wrong, I love Conway but that's just a piece of history someone who was there told me about.
Dr. Adam McLeod, ND aka: Dreamhealer is holding a group healing in Vancouver on June 10th: the only one for the next two years. Ask Ronnie Hawkins about him, if you haven't already heard.
RIP Ronnie Hawkins, died May 29,2022 at age 87.
@Nickeythearse That's a great quote that I have always loved.
R.i.p Ronnie hawkins.
yep
I guess that wasn't The Band at the start ? Looked later than the mids 60s when The Band left him.

Speaking voice sounds just like Johnny Cash.
Reminds me more of Wayland!
