Yeah in many ways you have to stay so much more focused and energized against 3.0/3.5 than higher levels. At 4.0+ everything is coming back consistent and stronger. You can relax more and don't have to create your own pace. There's no pressure to win points. Some 3.0/3.5 will literally get everything back by just chipping it back in play, forcing you to do all the work to win the points. Extremely difficult to consistently hit winners.
The second set let down was because 1) subconsciously your inner nice guy didn’t want to hand out to lopsided of a score. 2) you have poor night vision and the twilight zone wasn’t helping. 3) it was dinner time and your stomach doesn’t care about tennis as much as you do.
