Something I’ve learned is no man’s land is where you want to be against this type of foe. Gotta get comfortable being uncomfortable

Agreed! This recording is from awhile ago and I have since played more people of this play style and that’s where I ended up finding success….just gotta be ready to do a lot of moving back too 😅

Thank you this was very instructional. We are at similar levels and Im playing a losers bracket final in two days and its against this style.. i dont play it often but when i do i dont do well! I'll try and follow your lead as well as staying more inside as another commenter suggested.

Definitely! And I also found that if there’s a short ball that brings you forward start your retreat to the baseline early because they’re good at throwing in deep shots when you’re up.

The guy is sitting in no man's land half the time. High spinny balls to get a no doubt high but short ball and get to the net is what this match needed.

Just hit harder (80% of what you are capable of), you are too carefull. You do have the strenght and technique!

I never played against a pusher (there aren't many at 3.5+). for a consistent baseline grinder doesn't seem hard though.

Easy to forget that against this guy your feet are basically at the service line all the time. If you take a behind-the-baseline cut at an approach ball you're gonna fly the ball a lot. If you're uncomfortable with these shots, more mini-tennis is your friend. Practice spinning the ball firmly on a normal-sized swing and landing it in the service box.

Yeah and the pollen mark also seems to confirm this…but he played it and won so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Your too young to really understand this statement, but your commentary is prime Woody Allen. 🙂

Learn to hit a forehand angle bro. Many those short balls you get are ripe for angle shots. Just look it up on youtube.
