I love everything about this. Now all you need are some NODS, a flashlight, carrying handle, pointy muzzle brake, and camo cerakote to finish the tactical cannon off.
Hahaha. Maybe… 🤔
If i was a cannon gunner i would totally brush in the area and use camo netting
Short distance only
We shall find out! It’s pretty laser straight shooting for about 75 yards before the drop starts.
That's a Weaver rail.
Now it needs a proper muzzle brake just like Tiger 1 had
😂🤣
Now attach a suppressor
😂
😂
I’ve thought about it… and how… although “attached” isn’t part of the plan as the ATF would probably get involved.
@@TheCannoneer I mean if isn't a "firearm" is it really a "silencer"?
@@TheAlexagiusThe ATF, like all three-letter government agencies, is contractually obligated to not have a sense of humor.
Ah yes, a red dot, on a smoothbore. SURELY
seriously though, cool video, it will be interesting to see if it helps
Other than the normal point and shoot, which is awful and almost impossible, this should hopefully help with some distance shooting! We’ve got a trick for precise aiming but it’s not the best for distance.
The Abrams also uses a smoothbore cannon and it does ok. I think there is some logic here, especially if he can get the APFSDS rounds to work properly.
I am glad I discovered this channel. Doing both historical and fun tests with weapons of the past is a lot of fun. I do the same with Warbows.
Keep up the good work
Dude thanks for sharing your channel too! I love me some archery and long bow shooting. I don’t get to as much as I used to but that was my summertime pastime haha. I’ll be checking your channel!
This channel must be new because its a hidden gem. I’d love to see you work with the slow mo guys and do grapeshot or bb shot
Oh me too! One of these days I’ll have to hit them up. I think if we hit 10k I’ll have a bit more sway to reach out haha.
Hi. I'm Caleb from Brownell's and today we are talking about red dots on canons. Do you really need one?
Hahaha! I’m going to try to make a “silencer” for it one of these days too.
This is gonna confuse so many archeologists in a few thousand years! 😂
Edit: That elevation screw is a genius idea, too. Between that and the red dot, this all should really help reduce aim variability at the range!
Between that and if anyone ever excavates our shooting range, they will find a very confusing scene!
Since we’re shooting at tiny things half the time this should hopefully be a game changer!
I love this guys energy I just found his channel
Thank you!
Now it'll be super easy to clear villages of redcoats in CQB! Nice! o7
Add in some thermals and they can never hide haha
I'm so glad the sight is removable. As soon it was shown on camera I envisioned it breaking.
Oh for sure! That recoil would not do well. It usually takes us about 5 minutes to aim and it’s super weather dependent. This will be a game changer!
@@TheCannoneer before the sight you just looked down the top and side of the barrel to aim?
We’ve got a laser!
tactical cannon
You didn’t need to weld that whole bar, a few half inch stich welds alternating spaced out would have been more than enough, and a lot less heat in the barrel, and that bar.
Your comment about taking the scope off has me wondering what the recoil impulse is like, because there are scopes on some pretty beefy modern firearms using much faster burning powder.
Now that you have a really solid mount, you should find someone with an accelerometer you could lock on and get some testing with. it's a lot of force, but I'm not sure how much of that would translate into knocking an optic off zero if it's a slow impulse,
Because i really want to see how accurate you can be, and taking an optic on and off isn't the best for keeping zero
That’s a good idea! We shall have to find out at some point. I’m sure it could handle it but we will test it before trying for sure!
@@TheCannoneer yeah, I honestly hadn't considered having to take it off, because a mk-19 automatic grenade launcher uses optics, along with 50bmg's
use the hole plugs while welding too nothing wores then weld bead in there
You could just mount some iron sights. An anti aircraft machine gun type sight would be cool
Would be cool if you cast some diabolo shaped rounds to improve accuraci with the smooth bore, now that you have a red dot
Excuse my bad english, greetings from Barcelona!!
I’ll get some made or try to anyway! Thanks for tuning in!
@@TheCannoneer you deserve more subscribers, cool content!
Much appreciated! Hopefully one day!
I vote for making a truck bed mount for a canon technical
I second that vote!
@@TheCannoneer I'm the old tanker,we talked about the sabot stuff.I have an idea of what I'm gonna make and send for firing out of the cannon but,if you are serious.....I can keep an eye out for a running auction vehicle its obviously a project that would take a little while. In fact,I have a freind with a dealers lisc I can get a vehicle at the dealers auction for very cheap.
We would have to make list of requirement specs, min measurements,HP etc so the cannon fits and the vehicle moves......might be a worth while project.i told you,I'm retired.I get bored easy.As long as my hunting and fishing seasons arent interrupted I'm up for most anything.
Cheers
Lego connectors soon? I hope so.
Okay, that's cool... I guess.
But what about adding a bayonet?
You’re actually the second person to suggest that! Maybe one day. It needs one of those giant saber ones.
Try an ACOG.
It drives me crazy how you show and explain what you shooting then cut to about to lite the cannon and repeat everything you just said before lighting the cannon. Just say what it is and explain what your shooting and then light the cannon. Why explain 2 times.
I’m learning how to make better videos! The newer ones are set up the way that you mentioned with less explaining in between! Thanks for tuning in!
U know one of those big tank suppressors that Germany uses??
Wink wink nudge nudge
😂🤣😂🤣 I forgot those silly things existed!
EXCELLENT 👍
Thank you!
Thats awesome, will be a helluva red dot torture tester for sure lol. My grandfather had a buddy from ww2 that had a bit smaller one in his bedroom loaded with grape shot rigged to a pull trip with a 209 shotgun primer incase someone broke in while he was asleep lol.
That’s beautiful. As the founding fathers intended.
could you allso make a 2 prong fork for harpoon line thrower
1 epp on harpoon
1 epp shooting tree climbing line throwing lead bag
Oh that’s a good one!
I crack shot ideas would be for welding an adapter to a modern pintel T&E system then again that may need its own custom mount beyond that
I want to build it into a technical one of these days too… ride it around 1700’s Mad Maxamillion style. 😂🤣
ua-cam.com/video/WJZUYTBo-aA/v-deo.html the atf does not consider non portable units to be NFA items
That’s exactly what I was going to try with it too! Good to know. Thanks!
Purists are going to scream about the red dot but it's neat that you do all these experiments. I bet that if the founding father could get their hands on a red dot they would have thought stupid not to use it.
Exactly! That and missing isn’t fun or cheap! Some of those stone cannonballs are like $4-$5 a pop so I wanna make them count! We’re for taking names not missing! Haha.
New to the channel. Love it so far. I watched the one we were troubleshooting adding the discarding part to the armor piercing discarding sabo. I think if the sabo went all the way through the fins so they were flush at the rear of the fins. You could then encapsulate the fins the sabo everything in the discarding shell. I hope that made sense.
And now that you've added a rail for a red dot site. I got to swing over to battleship New Jersey page and make the same recommendation to one of their 16-in naval rifles. Couldn't hurt
😂
That would have been a game changer in WW2! 🤣😂
I suppose the next modernisation upgrade would be a recoil way and spring (forgot the english name, in german Rohr Rückholfeder or so)
Oh that would be fun... make a self loading cannon with one. I think it might be possible but you'd have to really nail the timing....
@@TheCannoneer that would also be a cool idea, tho i just meant, that the barrle can move backwards with the recoil and back into position, to increase next shot accuracy, without needing to redo the aiming, or is the cannon small enove that it is fixed in place anyway?
Step 1 of the sporterization process is complete.
Oh no… am I becoming revolutionary war bubba? We need to figure out a name for that…🤔
me: do you have a cannon with a -
him: YES
😁
😂🤣
"parry this, you filthy casual"
Beautiful 🤣🤣
It looks great! Can’t wait to see how it performs. Are you going to only use red dots or will you experiment with scopes?
Thanks! No reason not too if we can find a range that reaches out that far! I appreciate your comment as the opener!
@@TheCannoneerMount a spotter scope to the cannon lol
Needs a laser to help with the aiming
That’s how we “currently” aim!
I know why this is my new favorit channel.... Your new mould is finished by the end of next week i hope =)
Oh wow! Thank you so much! I think you’ll be the first “you create we cannon” episode too! Keep making the great content yourself.
@@TheCannoneer shipping from germany hopefully goes fast 😅 i will also show the mould on my channel before shipping to promote your channel, thats the biggest caliber i ever made
100% for sure! I’ll link the video of how you made it on the video of us using it too so they can follow you! I’m excited to give it a 🥁shot🥁

Cannon vs planks wall
We almost have that with the pirate ship side but if you have any suggestions for specifics with it I’m totally game!
Hi. Why isn't your barrel centered on its sight?
Our carriage is made out of green wood so it bends and shifts a bit when it dries. We will restraighten it up one of these days but it doesn’t impact any functionality.
@@TheCannoneer No, no none. It's just weird
Awesome 😂
Thanks!
Cool idea
Thanks! Aiming for precision shots is hopefully going to be much easier!
Great👍
Thanks! Haha
A company called Zbolt makes a traversal and elevation mechanism for rails that will let you dial in and adjust the cannon much more easily than zeroing the red dot by itself
I’ll check them out! Thanks!
that's a cool idea, good stuff.
Thanks! Don’t want to spend our time missing instead of hitting especially since some of those stone cannonballs are like $5 and those 3D printed ones take 9 hours or more to print! Gotta make all the shots count!
@@TheCannoneer I hear you dude. I just bought some h.e.s.h. 12 gauge shells that were 5 bucks each. totally worth it though. that was a great idea, I'm looking forward to seeing that in action.
Cool vid
Thanks!
Bayonet lugs next.
Oh that would be great! Fix bayonets and you just roll in into combat haha what kind of bayonet?
@@TheCannoneer I'm kinda torn, the socket bayonet speaks of authenticity but so does the sabre. Whichever way you go it would have to be damn long hahahaha
Beautiful. Beautiful. 😂🤣
Sweet!
