This is the epitome of what a comparison video should be. The golden standard against which all other product comparison videos should be compared. In the last 2 decades of watching informative YT videos, this is the most well done one without contest. Great job!
I was going to go really dark until the day before my appointment I was in a situation that required some waving between drivers to get through it. Other driver had really dark tint and I could make out their silhouette but couldn't tell if they were even looking at me or waving me through. I had to just park it and let them figure things out themselves. So after that I settled on a lighter tint than originally planned.
I wished more drivers took this into account. I've own smaller cars as well as ride a motorcycle so almost can never look over other cars for cross traffic, having blackout windows makes this tricky where you either have to inch into an intersection or just wait until the car moves for you to get a clearer view.
You've never flashed your highbeams to communicate with another driver? Never really heard of waving at people or giving them a thumbs up lol. Probably just not in my area I guess

I think it would be the most helpful to tell people that you will only experience a very subtle difference between tint versions. I went with XPEL Plus because of all of the heat tests I saw with heat lamps on youtube. I even paid $100 extra for this film instead of Suntek CIR film (that I had on my last car.) After driving this tinted car for the last couple of weeks, I feel no significant difference between my lat car with Suntek vs this car with the Xpel Plus. $100 is not a big deal, but hey, if I could have saved it, I would have liked to. It would also be helpful if you had someone sit in the passenger seat behind the different tint percentages so we can see how visible that person is to the outside observer.

I've been considering what tint to get on my new car, and have been searching through pictures and videos on the internet for about a week, and this is by FAR the most helpful imagery I have seen. Thank you for this.
If you get good quality tint, it's easier to see out it. For example, I have 5% all around and 45% on my windshield done with XPEL Prime XR. Even though its 5%.. because it's high quality ceramic tint, It's like I am looking out of a 20% tinted window. I also watched this video last year and it helped me a lot with my decision!

@@meancheeto 20 is fairly light and no officer should give you shit for it. You can also see clearly out at night if you have good vision. But then again I’m from nyc and everyone rolls around with 5% anyway.
I went with 35 on all front windows and 5 on all back windows more privacy for my back passengers but still comfortable enough to drive and park at night plus it still looks good in the day!
Was searching for a good comparison and found nothing useful. Now a few months later when I’m finally going to tint my windows youtube recommends me this. Absolutely the best and exactly what I needed. Very helpful!
Also to note. Looking out the back window of a 5% Window tint in the rear view mirror at night is dreadful. The dimming versions of rear view mirrors make it extremely difficult at night.
True. I drove my friend's BMW with 5% tint several times and it was hellish. Literally had to spend 10 15 seconds to change lanes or good luck everybody else
I used to always go either 5 or 20 but I put 50 on my most recent car and I think it’s perfect. Still blocks out the sun and leaves you with best visibility
In California, I think we can only put 88% (70% over existing tint) on front side windows. Total horse💩. It doesn't become worth the expense until you at least hit 50%.

This is very helpful! I'm trying to decide what shade to put on the front doors of my 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro4x. I usually go 35% just to avoid unwanted attention from cops, but this time I'm leaning toward matching the fronts to the rears for a more cohesive look and I think the rears are 20% from factory if I'm not mistaken. I'm planning on doing 70% on the windshield as well for UV blocking and glare reduction.... all Xpel XR Black.
This has helped me soo much! Ill be getting my windows tinted tomorrow and I wouldn't know which is which! I'll be getting 18 on all the back windows and 55 for the front windows

I went to a body shop that also did tints. They didnt have swatches so i could see the differences. And didnt want to bother to open the films, so i could see myself. They only described it. So i bailed. Went home. And found this video. Thank you for this.

Only downside about videos like this is the true tint visibility when you have the same tint all around your car, that little bit of light coming in from those other tints are making that 5% and 20% look way brighter than what it is when it’s completely wrapped

Same on my truck but I got a 5 sun strip and it darkens the inside a little and makes the 35 seem darker than it is

Remember, a lot of windows already have 70 (it'll tell you on the corner of your window) . So if you want 35, then have 50 put on (70x50=35)
But by "a lot of windows" you're referring to the factory tint put on a lot of rear seat glass on SUV's etc right?
No “ clear” glass is actually 70%
Factory rear window tint is approx 15-18%
