I absolutely LOVE my MadDog-40! I've had it almost a year now, and I run it in the CHA carbon-fiber tripod with a Buddipole 114" whip on top for 10M through 40M. I recommend his antennas to anyone that live in an HOA environment like I do.
Bob, thank-you for your review. Your videos are so well put together, puts mine to shame! It was great to see the results you achieved on 80 meters. I’ve made quite a few 160m contacts at night using the Big Dog 25 with the SS25. 73, Marty VK4KC
Marty, you make great gear. I was hooked after one of your very first build videos you posted -- I could tell immediately this was well thought out and designed. So glad to see this continuing to grow for you.
I left a note right under the link; Marty took the link off line temporarily because he received so many orders and stocked out. He left a note here in the comment section he was sourcing more materials and would bring the link back on line.
I have this but have never actually tried it. I think I'll it off the shelf early in 2025 and do a demo video. chameleonantenna.com/shop-here/ols/products/cha-ugs
Hi James, I've dropped the Big Dog 25 from my site for a few days as I've had so many orders which has depleted my stock and I'm waiting for some components to arrive to make my next batch. Please check back in a few days time on the Mad Dog Coils site for an update. Sorry for the inconvenience. Marty VK4KC

Thanks for this confirmation; I have the 40 as well. Marty makes a very well designed and high quality product!

I have the Maddog 80 and use it with the WWC 213 inch. Recently I purchased a coil from Maddog that allows 160M. I haven’t tried yet though.
I think the 160M is this very one I am showing...
I tried using a Mad Dog coil from a 2nd floor lanai, but didn't have any luck with it. RFI was over the roof!
I've tried operating at hotels multiple floor up...the challenge is real! I don't have the perfect solution for that yet.
Thanks for the tour. Your link of the Big Dog 25 goes to a dead site and it's not showing on their website.

@@HOAHamRadio I was curious about the price of the Big Dog 25, do you happen to know how much it cost?
I think I paid around $140 US for it a few months ago...can't find the actual receipt. This would have included shipping as well.
Looking for guying ideas for the 25' whip

Alpha Antenna is coming out with a 34ft whip March of '25. Looks interesting!
That's a lot of thin wall stainless in the air; wonder if they are suggesting guying it. Would love to get my hands on one.
@@HOAHamRadio They absolutely do, and will be happy to sell you a guying kit. I have on on pre-order
Bob, the link for this from Mad Dog does not seem to be working. Can you check to see if there's an error

Thanks for letting me know. Marty updated here in his response, and I added a note under the link for others, based on your comment.
Sorry about that Marty : )
Cant you hit 80m with cha 25 and 40m cha coil?
Haven't tried that yet...but will at some point. So many options with the new tools Chameleon just introduced.
Bob, did you say you used 9 radials or 10 as Marty suggested ?
Yep, 9 only, worked great for me as you could tell. Your mileage may vary depending on soil and surrounding conditions.
What was the bandwidth like on 80m?
Its fairly narrow. You can check my SWR chart during the vid. I tuned the coil to voice, then used my shack tuner to touch up for digital modes.
Thanks for the video!!
My pleasure; some vids are more fun to make than others. This one fit that group.
Did you try CW?
Don't know CW...if I can do voice and WSPR, CW would be no problem.
There are some 160 M nets in AM mode on Sunday. 73
When I get bored...I'm gonna have to give 160 a try.
OMISS 160m net: 1.930MHz (+/- 10KHz), 0400z, Sat, Sun, Mon.
Seems I'm going to have to give this a try!
Great demonstration! Thanks for sharing this informative content! ~ 73 ~ AC7WH
