Thank you! I’ve had a, “this all sucks and will be cut, should I even continue,” type of day. I needed to hear this. I hope this reads okay, I’m not wearing my glasses. Lol.
Wooo!!! Welcome! I’m just north of you outside of Jax 🥰 I got married on Anastasia island and spent much of my childhood and young adult years in St aug for fun. You will find so much inspo there. The setting of my fantasy novel is inspired by St George Street and the bay. Don’t know if you’ve been been to St Aug, but The Ice Plant distillery is a unique place and there pretzel loaf is to die for. Pizzallys has incredible pizza. Also, all the small restaurants tucked into the back streets are fun to explore. Oh and Flagler College and the Lightner Museum are a must to tour if you can!
As a full time rv family, I can relate about feeling like being on vacation. It took us a couple of months before we got into a rhythm. Basically, on travel day/moving day there isn’t formal lessons. The kids ages 8 and 11 both have kindles and regular books they bring into the truck and read. We have tried lessons on the day of, but it’s always a disaster.
I had no idea George made Roblox games, Alexis is obsessed with them lol. The place you are staying looks lovely, can't beat the beach. Hope you have a great week:)
I have hit about 1700 words per day which is my goal. I am currently at around 5300 words total so far. I used to live in St. Augustine about 15 years ago. It was pretty place to be. Glad to hear that you made it safely and that you got your writing in.
That’s a great accomplishment! I’m behind but am still getting my first book all buttoned up to publish next week! Eeeek! I hope you meet all your goals!
Uni forced me to "Kill your darlings" pretty fast, but I developed a "Write first, Edit later" mentality after graduating and honed editing skills more. You don't have to be married to the words/draft you are writing now. When you talked about getting the idea for your plot twist and got excited, I share that with you wholeheartedly. It reminded me of the quote "Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working" by Picasso I think. I was writing a basis of an argument I want two characters to have and I was like "Wait, what weapon does he have? Is it enchanted, too? Should he steal the other guy's sword?" and it was a great Aha moment I haven't had since starting NaNo and I got some new content to go on. I hope you get some rest and visit that beach for me! A heated pool sounds divine right now. It's 30f here tonight lol
Your Vlogs for NaNo are inspiring. Today I sat down and did your Plan & Write workbook that I got from your Heart Breathings Resource Library. I got alot of it done. Hopefully tomorrow I will be working on workbook Plot Your Novel. Your workbooks have helped me tremendously for beginning my book. Thank you for sharing Sarra ❤ 😊
I don't normally comment, but I feel like you could use a little support, Sarra. I'm a mom and an aspiring author, so I know that balance can be hard to find even in the best of times - and your family is on a bigger adventure right now than you had intended or hoped originally to be! If I can make a suggestion to you, it would be to try to make sure you schedule some downtime with your little one. I know how mine could get when off schedule, and it sounds like little Evie could use some snuggles and a little extra rest. Congratulations on everything you and your husband have accomplished in this whirlwind time in your life! It's great to hear that you've had a win. I hope they keep rolling in for you, and that things calm down so you can get a full night of sleep this week!
Thank you so much for the encouragement! We have definitely scheduled in break days. We even ended up not using a Disney day ticket just to snuggle and rest as a family. Very good advice!
Waving as you traveled from Orlando to St Augustine, recongizing all the roads you took as I have traveled them often from Mount Dora south to Disney or west to St Aug! Enjoy your time in the Oldest City--so much to see and do!
I'm just above you in N. Florida. You're sure visiting us in Florida at a good time in the year. As others have mentioned, there are loads of things to do in St Augustine. One item to watch, however: the weather here in our rocky transition from summer to fall. Friday into Saturday, we're expecting a noreaster, with a couple of inches of rain. Great writing (or nap) days!
I hope you enjoy St. Augustine. It's a lovely town. Be sure to see the Lightner Museum and at least the entry to Flagler College. Sometimes when there is a strong wind from the northeast, when the tide comes in, the water rises through drainage grates along the waterfront. It looks like The Blob is coming up into the street. (It may seem frantic from time to time, but you will look back on this great adventure you are having and be happy that you did it.)
Hey Sarra! I didn't get started until the 2nd, but actually got in a lot of words - over what I thought I'd get. I'm typing again tonight and just took a short break and saw you had a video up. You are giving me encouragement to get my tail moving along and meeting that word count I've made for myself each day. Thank you so much for that and for your videos for all of us! You are AMAZING!
I lived the digital nomad life and traveled full time for about five years before COVID hit and it's a whirlwind of excitement cans exhaustion that you can't understand until you've done it. I had my puppy with me, but not sure how I would've ever done it with kiddos along.
I got a paragraph of my writing project for my writing class on Zoom. I feel like I got some work done. I should get more done tomorrow when I have writing class with my one on one. She knows how to keep me on track to get my work done.
Yes! Love your excitement😍 And remember every word counts to build a book. And who knows maybe some of the words from this year won't make it to book 12 but will be the spark for a brand new story Hugs!
I totally feel that, Sarra. I have started Nanowrimo this year, what is my first nanowrimo ever, without a single note for the plot, because there was no prepping time in October. I just ended up, editing the day before and rushed into the new project. And I'm absolutely no pantser. I'm getting my 2700 words daily but it's so chaotic. But I like the idea of the story, and the things that were important are just coming together now. I wish you all the best for your ongoing progress!
My nano is going great so far! Just passed 12K today. My daughter is currently sick with a cold and I just know I’m going to get it so I’m trying to get as many words in now as possible.
St. Augustine looks beautiful! My husband and I were at WDW with my in-laws and nephews in 2017. Shockingly for me, writing has been going great! Pantser by nature, I spent two days writing a rough outline of book 1 roughly for each chapter during the last week of October. Kind of hard to explain but I’m shocked how well it’s going. I wasn’t able to complete the rough outline; so I’m a little concerned what’s going to happen when I get to that point in the story! I’ve written almost 8700 words in three days. If you have words to write and things you want to type, keep going and don’t stop at your daily word goal! Good luck to everyone doing Nano! Barbara
You are moving A LOT! I don't blame you for feeling tired all the time and/or stressed and unable to get words in. Once a week is a lot. There's a reason truckers learn to live out of a single bag while on the road, and it translates a lot to their life when they aren't on the road either I've noticed. In a way, I think a lot of what they do is easier than what you're doing. Not just because you're moving with more people, but because they'd moving daily, so they don't need anything but essentials, and your family is staying in places just long enough you'll want a little more than essentials, but it also means longer packing and unpacking times. If that makes sense...
I just did my word count and I have 5526 words total on Day 3 :) Slightly ahead of the tracker, but slightly behind my realistic goal accounting for non-writing days, which is 5772. I'll do my best to build up a surplus over the weekend. Your videos are so encouraging!! Thank you :)
You are superwoman. Seriously. I'm exhausted just hearing about all you do everyday, plus writing! I had insomnia on 10/31 but managed about three short sprints on Nano day one. Yesterday was my b-day so I didn't write. It's now day three and I'm woefully behind my word goals. But, your encouragement really helps, so I'm going to continue writing tonight.
Thank you for continuing to blog and encourage us! It’s great to be a part of a community like this. Thank you for your support and resources! My first NaNo is going well :) I’ve written over my goal each day. It’s been so fun and hard at times. It makes me wish I could just do this full time haha Wish you well!
Yay!!! I love that you add a little bit of motivation in all of your videos -- it adds to the overall inspirational feel. So excited to watch the rest of your NaNo diaries!
I love St. Augustine! It's amazing! I love the beaches there, and the history of the area is fascinating. I also highly recommend the San Sebastian winery tour for an adult outing!
I lived most of my life south of St. Augustine on US 1 in Flagler county. I hope you'll have time to get out and enjoy St. Augustine with your family while you are there. We loved visiting the fort and all of the historical buildings.
OMG I have never done NANOWRIMO before. This is a first and first time writing in sprints. I LOVE IT! I found that 30 to 45 min sprints are my sweet spots. I am having so much fun with this. I think I may keep up the flow after NANO and into all next year. P.S. Your kids are so cute and my mom wants your hat. LOL That's her and my grandpa's saying.
Good morning, Sarra. Wow. What a ride! I have one question. Who said Evie could grow up? LOL That little one is getting so big and boy she looks like a mini-you, right down to pen and paper. Andrew looks happy. He's probably enjoying this adventure. Congrats to George! You are all so talented. Be safe, Be Blessed.
Kudos to your new house on the beach! Y'all are the real MVPs. Modern nomads! Sounds like a book title, doesn't it? LOL Had to stop in and check your new video. I'm late night writing. I know your story will come together just as it should👍😍 Thanks for taking time to vlog and share with us!
Wow! You stopped at the Cracker Barrel about 2 miles from the high school where I work. I take that backroad behind the Cracker Barrel to avoid most of International Speedway traffic in the mornings to get to work. I so wish I could have met you. I'm pretty sure it would have been way more fun than the lesson on rhetoric and logical fallacies I was doing today, lol.
My son heard you say Roblox and he got so excited...he loves those games. A Roblox gift card is the first thing he asks for, for any holiday or birthday.
Mine likes Minecraft but he gets bored easily with it and goes back to Roblox. But I can’t always keep up. While they look the same from one game to another if I ask questions he’s always like no momma that was the other Roblox game, then he has to explain the different concept. I’m not a gamer so I have learned to stop asking😬
Ahead of my word count which is nice but this story is definitely challenging me. It's a different theme than my usual stuff and I haven't quite hit my stride yet. You're doing great sarra! Love the vlog style videos from you and I'll be cheering you on for nano this year!

I did work out how many words I needed to write daily if I was to take Sundays, 2 Saturdays, Thanksgiving and 1 other day off and I'm not making it to the word count, but I'm okay with it for now. According to the NaNo site, I'll be done Nov. 29, so I'm looking at that as I've written enough to take this Sunday off. Now I'm working on being able to take a Saturday off. I think if I do it that way then I won't be focused on the word count so much that I don't write anything and feeling like I'm failing when I'm actually killing it according to NaNo.
I couldn't write yesterday but got extra words day one. I have done 2 sprints today and am going to head back and see if I can get more before bed. All the words are crap but I am just going for words and hoping it will lead somewhere good.
You are handling the whole moving-situation so incredibly well! I bet your kids wouldn't be so resilient if you would make it a stressful experience. So big up to you!

Enjoying the NaNoWriMo Diaries so far - best wishes for the month! My son loves playing Roblox - I am sure he’d love to try the game if you are happy to share the name? 😊
We were in Orlando, but we are on the road for the foreseeable future, so it's just for a week. Then we are off to Destin. Lots of moving around, though we came from Charleston!
@@HeartBreathings I've lived in both Orlando and Charleston! My first husband was Navy. Charleston was beautiful. Orlando wasn't so lovely. It was hot and humid and smelled like Sulphur every day after it rained. Lol. Happy travels. Destin is gorgeous.
“It’s kind of like being perpetually on the road”… made me smile… like it hasn’t 💯 hit you that that is what it actually is lol
Haha truth
Thank you! I’ve had a, “this all sucks and will be cut, should I even continue,” type of day. I needed to hear this. I hope this reads okay, I’m not wearing my glasses. Lol.

My son loves playing Roblox - I am sure he’d love to try the game if you are happy to share the name? 😊
Congratulations on your move. Where are you moving from?
We were in Orlando, but we are on the road for the foreseeable future, so it's just for a week. Then we are off to Destin. Lots of moving around, though we came from Charleston!
@@HeartBreathings I've lived in both Orlando and Charleston! My first husband was Navy. Charleston was beautiful. Orlando wasn't so lovely. It was hot and humid and smelled like Sulphur every day after it rained. Lol. Happy travels. Destin is gorgeous.
OMG He designs Roblox games? My son and I play them together all the time! Will you share which one it is?
What’s the Roblox game? My 8 year old loves playing!
