- FLOOR BATTENS - REVERSING CAMERA WIRING - Camper Van Conversion UK - Citroen Relay - Week 2 - P.1
Welcome to our 2nd week of converting our van into a CAMPERVAN! This weekend we managed to get quiet a bit on camera so we decided to split the weekend van conversion vlog into two parts.
In this first part (saturday) Laz wires up the reversing camera and monitor via fuse tap and the rear 12v socket while Cass sticks on the dodo mat sound deadening. We also show how we cut, layout and glue the floor batons in preparations for the van floor!
We are both working full time jobs, so join us every weekend, keeping up to date with our van conversion! We are both complete beginners with no DIY skills so hopefully this will give you a good overview of what to expect if you plan on doing a camper van conversion yourself while working full time.

Great videos. FYI you have small blades rather than mini blades that you have written in the link. I've just made this school boy error!
Hey! Thanks for pointing it out, I've fixed the description, at least the link took you to the correct product! Sorry if It made you order the wrong thing! 😣
@@CasLaz Yeah, for some reason I assumed the link was on rather than the description! Struggling with your wire tap off the cigarette lighter- do you have to cut back the wire insulation before using the plastic connector?
Gonna be awesome 👏
Thanks guys! Hope so 😂 We'll try our best!
If you guys have any questions make sure you ask in the comments! Next video will be up next Tuesday!
Guys thanks so much for these videos they are helping with my recently started build. As much as feasible I'll try to buy things through your links. Quick question - did you use Sika EBT fro gluing batons to the floor?
Hi Christopher!
Glad the series are helping, hope you conversion goes well!
Yes we used Sikaflex EBT+ for floor battens (I just put a link in the description)
Thanks for using our link, really appreciate it ! 😎💙
Amazing build! But have 2 things to ask guys:
I’d never use treated batons. Don’t You introduce moisture that way?
And why did you not put vertical support in the middle where you’ll be walking the most?
Hey! Good questions, I'm not sure about the moisture, we seen other people use treated batons for flooring support so we went with it too. I suppose the moisture is the chemical content but it shouldn't cause issues as the actual moisture supposed to prevent any rot or mould forming in the wood ?
Regarding support in the middle; good point, i think its a good idea to add one in the middle. I think the reason why we didn't is because we were thinking more about where we are going to be screwing things to the floor and batons vs support. We used 12mm ply and it doesent seem to flex between the two batons so it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Your doing a great job, but why didn’t you lay the ribs between the corrugations so you get as much surface contact for the adhesive and also retain as much headroom as possible.
I think we decided to do it this way because the celotex insulation is 25mm and the wood battens are 25mm too. So placing the wood battens between the ridges would make the celotex insulation sheets stick out above the battens.
Also, for the length ways battens you could maybe place it between the ridges, bur for the width ways battens it wouldn't work as it would have to sit on the ridges anyway, which means you'd have a 5mm ish height difference, not ideal for the ply floor etc.
I guess you could just have length ways battens but more of them in-between the ridges, and no width ways which could work, maybe the celotex squishes enough where that 5mm ish difference will squish down.
Thanks for watching and commenting !
Hi Caz and Laz, I now have my van (2017 relay L4H2) so I’m ready to start my build.
How much sound deadening material did you need for your build? And do you have an affiliate link for it?
Thanks for all your content.
Chris
Hi ! Thats awesome !!!👌 👏 😎 Good luck with the conversion!
Ah sorry forgot to link it, I just added a link in the description, thanks for flagging. I think we just bought one roll of that and used it all up. Thanks for using our amazon links !!
