Cool. I probably won't be doing that. LOL

What could cause those resisters to get hot like that? This is a nice simple way to verify the gas valve is actually opening and closing. Thanks.

thanks For the video. ill consider doing this when we have an intermittent Gas valve issue suspected. Once getting this wired up it beats waiting For the Furnace to cycle 20 times beFore conFirming. We all have had that one where the gas valve lights up and runs Fine while we are there but into the night it stops randomly.

So you condemned a board because you jumped the valve and it opened with zero induced draft and zero gas pressure read? Interesting 🤔

If your valve is receiving 24v and not opening or closing then it's either stuck or bad

Not as quick to do as the title suggests but definitely doable. I presume that if the gas valve works directly from the transformer it means at least part of the circuit board is cooked and the board has to be replaced.

That’s faster than hooking up a manometer to the gas valve?

what about a smart vavle , how do you test those?
90+ furnace had a power surge and everything dead except blower on all the time weither calling for heat or not.
1.inducer, ignition and safety wires going to connectors on gas valve
    2. tested the saftey circuts all good to and from connector on gas valve
    3. theres power on the main board going everywhere fuse is not blown
    4. no power coming into inducer motor from gas valve connector but theres power from main board to gas valve connector
    5. i took off wires to pressure switch .. tested both blue wires dangling in the air and both in and out have 15 volts
    6. the diagnostic error light on gas valve used to flash a trouble code of "bad limit circut" but now no light at all

Between pins 2 and 4 u should always have 120v
When u get a call for heat then you should have 120v between pin 1 and 4 this is all the gas valve, that’s where I would start, if you have 24v between w-c then u should have 120v between pins 1-4

I had the same issue, and discovered that the common going to the valve wasn't sending the 24 volt to the valve, there was small brown color where the common connected to the board. Removed the board and saw that the solder was not making contact. So I just connected the white common coming from the valve to a common connection and it started working. This happened a month ago. The old lady didn't have money to replace board and it works on cooling and heating.

If you still have a furnace with a smart valve it’s old and probably not worth the trouble, better off replacing.

Did you checked the límites switch that goes inside the furnace to see if it was open?

24 dc volts, 27 dc volts use a dc charger, or any 24v battery, in that board ju s t change the 2 resistance s.

I would not advise anyone without being a qualified gas licensed tech to do what this test! Murphy’s Law! If something could go wrong without proper knowledge it will!!!

Eh just make sure you have a shut off nearby. Should be one within 6ft of the appliance if anything crazy happens just shut the gas shutoff. VOILA

Why didn't you measure the voltage on the gas valve ? Simple and fast.

We're you even watching the video? He said that he did that and it came out suspiciously low. But you would have known that if you had been paying the least bit of attention. 😉
