I compare the Wouxun KG-935G PLUS GMRS radio to the previous KG-935G GMRS radio.

I told my wife I need a new flash light. It comes with a radio attached to it, wife says "oh thats nice".
Tnx for the line!
What ever works !
If they would add a vibrator feature I'd buy her a KG-935g too.
@@archmasterone Isn't that available as an option with a longer antenna?
I just keep it on my belt to look cool.
I love that you stated the old model would be kept on the right and then immediately switched them 😂
Yep, lol
FJB! Love it Randy!
Google wants to translate!!!
LOL!!!
Randy, you're such an evil force in my life!
I wonder why he supports the 2A and hates Joe Biden but lives in commiefornia 😂
It's the plus-sized models that make this rockin' world go round.
lol
Dad use to lovingly refer to 'em as "corn fed"...
get on your bikes and ride!
I think the plus-sized human models are making the world slow down from all their weight.
Nuthin like a double wide azz....lol
Thanks Randy! Also, I can't thank you enough for steering me towards quality two-way radios, or at least, equipment that has VALUE! It makes for a much more pleasurable experience.
Great video! I appreciate your content and lyrical sarcasm. I understand the KG-935G PLUS is a new edition and not many have reviewed it. Would you be so kind as to do a comparison of the KG-935G PLUS vs BTECH GMRS PRO? Pros and Cons. Thank you for your content.
Dammit. I guess I’m buying yet another radio I don’t need. Thanks Randy. I’ll send you the bill. 😢
'that you don't need'??? Go away, we don't need that kind of negativity in the chat lol!!!
Love that the plus is dry-hump safe, bc of stiff knobs
Just opened my KG93G plus (my first GMRS radio). First glance of the user manual tells me, I'll FOR SURE be referencing all of your videos about this model. Thanks for your content. Love the broken pencil point. 😂
I couldn’t help it. I ended up buying the 935G Plus because of you and I have no regrets. I also got the GM-30! Fun little radio that is too!
Voice is definitely clear we and the flashlight is definitely brighter.
Great video, I have the 935G and was considering upgrading. You actually can change the text in the non-active/TDR area in the 935G. FJB!
Some day I'll be mature enough to not laugh at the innuendos. Some day. But apparently today is not that day. Still a great review. Seems like all good improvements.
I decided I needed a few GMRS radios for coordinating prescribed burns and other field and forestry projects around my property. I viewed several of your videos, enjoyed them all, and decided to start with a couple of baofeng uv9Gs and a wuoxun KG-905G. The Baofeng folks must have seen your reviews because mine came out of the box set up as you have suggested. The Wouxun is better build quality, but a simpler radio, and time will tell if it’s worth the extra $. They all work as expected. We are in hilly terrain so will be interesting to see if we can communicate from opposite sides of a hill or if we need a relay guy on top. Thank you for these informative and entertaining reviews and how to videos .
Extra points for using the word “behold”. We don’t use the word behold enough anymore.
I’m new to gmrs and just purchased this radio. And the journey begins !!
Randy I really appreciate all these new product review videos that you make just for me.
First video I watch here, I subscribed as soon as you said you would be sure to keep the old model on the right and then proceeded to switch them around for the entire review! 🤣
(Nearly two weeks later...) So I am re-watching this vid because I sent it along to a buddy that's going to be buying a 935G-Plus, and (Edit: * I * ) am listening to the Rachino repeater. I think I hear Chris talking right now, about how his then-3-yr-old son told him to sell his truck and buy a Jeep! ...sounds like Chris, anyway, from what I've heard of him talking to Randoph of NAR here on the channel. Wheee! Oh, I'm way out west here near LAX, and listening on my 935G "standard" HT, factory antenna from * inside my house *, and at a distance of 49 miles. The neighborhood I am in sits 150' above sea level, and above most of the southern Cal coastal plane to the north, to the east and to the south... to the west, obviously, is the Pacific ocean.
Once I get my XS20G wired into my truck some time within the next two weeks, I'll try to connect with the Ranchino repeater to say hello. I'd be using the Midland MXTA26 antenna for this endeavor.
Got a roger beep. I'm sold.
I laughed so hard when I saw the "fjb" that I farted and almost pooped. Thank's Randy that was great and now I want that radio as well.
I was moments away from buying the old kg 935g! thanks for the timely upload!
Ordered this “PLUS” radio, and it is fantastic. The sound is great, the screen, while busy, is great. I think it is well designed. I just need to find the bigger battery. Just because.
Thanks again Randy for keeping the old model on the right. 👍
Thank you for making this video just for me.
My power, handler, punisher, hero! Radios all over express their appreciation for your showers of data!
Thanks for the review!!
Randy, I never thought you would lie to your "favorite viewers". You said you were going to keep the plus on the left and the other on the right, the you switched them, lol. But your forgiven. Thanks for your time sir.
Thanks for the video!!
Love your reviews. I guess I need to by a radio thru your link so you can get a new pencil!
Thanks, great overview.
Nice, great upgrades from Wouxun. Outstanding review Sir.
I'm so excited that you chose to share this with me! Thank you!
Your reviews are amazing!
What would you recommend as accessories for this radio? Non radio person here and am looking for something in case of SHTF.
Spare batteries! and maybe the AA-battery adaptor (if its still available).
Nice Video Randy, Thanks for your time and demonstration. I sure wish these radios could be unlocked for SHTF MODE.
But there locked down on the Firmware as im hearing. But, Some nice added features none the less. The chirp can expand
The recieve end as ive done in mine, but You cant
In the Tranmit. I expanded the uhf to 520 and the vhf
Somewhat.
I wish your 6th Grade English Fluency feature could be unlocked.
In a shituation you won't really want to transmit on the unlocked shtuff anyway; you'll want to listen. Truth is, the tx unlock/expand is hocus pocus.. it's phooey... it's much ado about nothing (the old saying; not the Shakespeare play, but it might be that too). You'll want to listen much and talk little; listen far and talk close or not talk at all. If you have someone you plan on talking to then you already have a comms plan for that.
@@waytospergtherebro theres nothing 6th Grade about radios. You either like what you want or have, or U dont.
Its that simple.
@@vitogriffin8902 No hockus pockus on Transmitting, ive done it. Who wants to Carry 3 or 4 different radios. I dont.
GMRS Guru Randy-Please the tremendous leverage that your exalted position endows you with to recommend new/betterer features for future models of the WUXON/OSHUN radios..such as displays that are easily viewable in bright, direct sunlight, on/off/volume knob with a SQUELCH control ring, NVD compatible display mode :), self-destructi option :), voice command mode:),Spy Balloon alert :), and a Sad Ham detector :)...everyone else please throw in al the other demands for Randy
Thank you!
Thank you for your assistance in avoiding conphukulation! It is appreciated
Stiff knobs are a good thing! OMG……I’m dying!!! lol
I am brand new at GMRS but have learned a great deal from you channel but I need some help. My new Wouxun KG935g Plus does NOT receive the emergency broadcasts alerts. I have been communicating this issue to BuyTwoWay Radios and we are looking at a return. You are my last hope. I Operate Nuclear Reactors so I understand owner manual and have set it up to receive the alerts. I can set my cheap FRS radio next to it and during the weekly NOAA/NWS alerts the FRS responds accordingly - the Wouxun does nothing. Now if I am listening to the weather band - the message comes thru - but no alert function. Help - any advise. Again - great channel
Great video as always Randy My favorite radio is the KG-935G Plus Use it everyday and the Deluxe Kit is well worth the cost for the 80 more dollars being you get 150 dollars worth of accessories 9:10 @NotaRubicon Productions
Pretty danged co0lio, Lord Randolph. I would be feeling a wee bit moar envy had I purchased my KG-935G earlier than I had. As it was, I only purchased it two weeks ago. I bought the "Anniversary Edition" which included (for a $40 savings! from the total if purchased separately), a second 3200 mAh battery, a battery eliminator (12V cig lighter power, baby! yeah), two additional forms of power supply for the charging cradle (one USB, the other a 12V cig dealibob), a AA battery case the size of the 3200 mAh housing, a separate microphone/PTT/speaker, a leather case (for going out to the leather bars?) and an antenna adaptor (SO239 to RG58) - AND! - my 935G has that new, plus-size sexy voice! (four = "FOH").
So I'm not too terribly envious of the new Plus.
Oh! What I'm most excited about is the pending delivery of my new KG-XS20G PLUS! and all of the accoutrement to facilitate it's install in my rig: Midland's GMRS Ghost 3dB gain antenna, a Larson mount (which can also serve as a ground plane, and mounts sandwiched betwixt the third brake light housing and the cab), 15' of M&P Hyperflex5, an M&P PL259, a Brand X NMO for the antenna end of the fine Italian or Argentine or Spanish-named co-axial RF Electricities Squirter Tubing... i r xcytd if I must say.
For some reason I feel like drinking a gallon of gravy, it's the weirdest thing.
Yes, take it off that plus sized model slowly. Thank you for the great information.
I love the custom message. 😄
ugh, I LITERALLY got my 935G a day ago..SON-OF-A...
I am assuming that since you didn’t mention it, the display still can’t be seen in sunlight.
Mine came this morning! I ordered it before I was able to watch your video. Great radio.
I like the Sig P365 mat more than the Mossberg mat.
Great video as usual. Looks like the plus sized model took the lead out of your pencil. 🤣
Do you know if the battery on the plus has any kind of metering for the USB-C charge port? If I plug it into my 45w charger for my phone will it damage or overheat the battery?
If they would make that radio scan in 800 To 900 frequency range for police scanning That would be a awesome radio I can't find one thats waterproof that will do this .
And nine days after my preceeding comment, my buddy is now in possession of his 935G-Plus. I am located near LAX, he is in Woodland Hills. We just used the Topanga Saddle Peak GMRS repeater to communicate. I am 16.7 miles from this repeater situated at over 2800 ft elevation. I would say this is some SIGNIFICANT FARS for a lil' 5W HT. Come on! now. [Editing to add: I was using my Nagoya 771G, although he said he could hear me when I used the Wouxun wire, too, but my tx was clearer using the 771]
@@TheNotaRubicon Copy that. To say I am impressed, excited, happy w/ this purchase would be a gross understatement. O Gracias, El Randolpho. Muchas.
You kind of remind me of myself, NotaRubicon.... yet, I don't hate you. So, that's weird.
I'm hoping the plus size model HTs are not going to ruin everything like those plus size model VS angels.
That battery! 🔋 😍
This is excellent information. I listened to your GMRS cool kids video earlier today and saw your fav radio and then when i searched online I saw that a new Plus sized model had been created. This clearly delineates the differences and for 10 bucks seems a reasonable upgrade. The Plus size model model's voice is much sexier than the previous runt. I am however becoming concerned that if I buy a GMRS radio (once I receive my callsign) that I may become tempted to explore Ham radio. Is there a way to avoid this temptation? I think the Plus sized model will keep me occupied for awhile. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Darn Chicoms always trying to get more $$$$ from me. Why not a free software update like most other manufacturers. I'd buy this new model if I had more money.....FJB. Have to admit, some nice upgrades. The software I could care less about. The "Harder" knobs and USB charging would be cool. Already have the Pretty, slim 10 that is the 935G. Life is too short for plus sizes. The FJB almost makes it worth $165. Thanks Randy.
Is a "hands free" external device, head set, or mic available? For people who have their hands occupied with staunching wounds but wish to talk at same time.
You know I tried to get a better look at the plus sized model in the flash image.
But, I couldn’t lock-in on her. (You cagey bastard)
Randy, if this was covered and I somehow missed it, please forgive me for my ignorance and oversight. Will the same software work for the KG935G and KG935G Plus, or are they like previous Plus models, requiring a different software?
The each have their own software
@NotaRubicon Productions
Thank You, Sir!
Can I use the UV-5R programming cable with this radio? Also does Chirp software support this radio?
Yes
Stiff is good, hard is better. Clarity, simplicity, colorisity and no more ConFuckery. Excellent !
did you mention the antenna compatibility? or I just missed it
Is it still a superheterodyne? The comparison chart on the website says it’s something different.
I am a newbie and don't quite understand programming. If I purchase this radio, what needs programmed and how is that done? Do you have a video on programing? If I need to hook it to a computer to program, do I need some kind of additional cable????
If you purchase either of these radios they work right out of the box on all of the standard 22 channels. You only need to program it if you want to get fancy and use repeaters, and you do not have to connect it to a computer you can do it all on the keypad.
It would be cool if wouxan released an update for this…I really like the usbc charging port, but the battery life is so amazballz on the OG I can’t imagine needing it very often.
An update for a radio they released 12 hours ago?
@@TheNotaRubicon For the the original model, it seems most of the features are just software. Hard pass but the battery is cool. I’ll stick with my original as the plus isn’t really a plus.
@@ToolFoolzSounded like the batteries are interchangeable
Where do you purchase one of these?
Son of a biscuit. I just got the older model in the mail today. lol
I'd like to hear the new plus-size voice say "homodyne........homodyne........" (PS--does it void the warranty when you remove the screen cover?)
If Wouxun wanted to make a better KG-935G then why did they not make the radio screen easier to read and see in direct daylight sun???
Because they want you to be able to afford to buy one.
Confukulation?? Ok. Another great video
How does the KG-935G Plus compare to the KG-UV9X?
I got the Plus a few days ago and really like it!
great info Randy try to find one
Randy … Great comparison review! I need a cigarette! LMFAO! Great job Brotha!
Loved the review .... and the entertainment.
Will the battery charge from the USB-C port while it is being used? Not sure I would need that ever, but I'm still curious all the same.
Enjoy ALL of your videos even as a "Why am I a HAM" licensed person, but not a sad HAM. :)
How do these compare to superheterodyne hand helds? Will I notice a difference? I really want weather channels and the superheterodyne don't seem to support that. Thanks for the video!
Most normal people will never notice the difference between and SOC and SuperHet radio.
I want ice cream and to fight a failure of a politician.
FJB!
Cool, but can we firmware upgrade, hmm I said Firm... Our old KG-935G to the Plus version? 😎
No
Well, here goes me setting myself up for joining the idiot class of your most favorite viewer. And, yes, I am trying not to blink as my 78 year old fingers attempt to type my question while correctly spelling all of my wards. I am obviously not of the techno age so I am easily confused by much of the information provided. The Wouxun radios are analog. Do you see GMRS radio technology moving to digital in the near (or far) future making the analog radios obsolete? I am considering purchasing the 935G Plus Two Radio Kit but hate to invest $320 in an analog radio if digital will be replacing analog technology. Your podcasts are the best, period. Thanks!
GMRS is, by definition Analog only, other than only short digital messages and location information being permitted to be sent digitally. Radios (ham & GMRS) do not become obsolete on a monthly basis like personal computers or cellphones. Analog GMRS radios will probably be around longer than you, or me.
@@TheNotaRubicon Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. You are a great asset for us nonbasement dwelling technoidiots. Guess I’m going to have to join your channel, crap.
And so the "Better Safe Radio" starts to lose its edge. And this one is actually available.
So with that all being said can you make the original KG 935G a KG 935G Plus by doing a software update?
Somehow, I doubt it. Probably some differing components have been added or exchanged too, like for the brighter flashlight.
What’s the difference between the plus and the pro.
Everyone should rename their GMRS channel 04 the same as Randy's! That was EPIC at @8:27 LMAO 🤣
If I had his address I would send him a pencil sharpener and some eatable pencils, haha
Will the hand held radio work with the midland MXT575????
All GMRS radios work with all other GMRS radios.
@@TheNotaRubicon cool thanks for the info.
Love it!
The real question is for an average user is it worth the extra $30 for the Plus?
Only you can decide if the additional features are worth an extra $30 to you.
@@TheNotaRubicon KG-935G and KG-935G-Plus should use the same software in CHIRP, Right??
Nicely done.. the dumb humor always gets me!
I love and admire that you can add to 9 or 10, hero bastard!
Of course I can, I have a collage degree!
@@TheNotaRubicon collagen is obviously part of your long term plant
I notice it’s a direct conversion over the superh. Any advice?
My advice is: Dont run with scissors.
I wish they made this radio with a superheterodyne receiver.
Is it just a coincidence that this radio came out the same week as a balloon from China floated over? Maybe Wouxun forgot to tell everyone they were doing an air delivery to you. Or maybe "Brandon" was told and he just forgot.
Love your videos.
Do you know if Wouxun will be coming out with a new radio?
Yes, I do know.
I just got my license so I will wait to see what comes out before I order a handheld. Thanks for the info@@TheNotaRubicon
Love your back round choice of wall photos. Perhaps have a look at the “George Bush 9/11 oil painting” and “Bill Clinton dress oil painting”. Whether you use them in a future video or not still worth having a look. The originals were owned by Epstein.
I was hoping they changed to a superheterodyne receiver, lol
Me too! What would really rock, would be a triple conversion receiver, as some scanner models have. With that, you could time travel back to the 1980's and not have your squelch break due to the numerous paging transmitters they had back then.
Its not the size of the ht that counts Its how you use it
