I about started crying when Hugh was talking at the end about what he realized he needed to do with his own children… all men should stop trying to be so hard and stoic and be open and communicative with their children. The biggest breakthrough for myself with my own children after my divorce was breaking down with my five-year old daughter and crying, telling her I don’t know what I’m doing. And she simply said, “It’s okay dad, I love you.”
❤❤
Beautiful well done you …I realised at one point we have to be this way x
One of Australia's finest and most humane people, Hugh Jackman, you make us proud 👍😆
Agreed. Wonderful Human.
I find it odd that people perpetually questioned his sexuality, is he supposed to wrestle crocodiles because he's an Aussie?
@@barcelonachair6487 huh! Wow first time I’ve heard people doubted his sexuality! So weird because he often talks about his family so affectionately. 🤷♀️
What an absolute gentleman. Top class actor, five star human, just a good man
Actor yes, the rest you really have zero clue. This is TV. It's fake.
And GORGEOUS ☺️
Why am I afraid that twenty years from now his kids will write a book that he was a monster?
@@maltedmilk6888 Let's hope not. There's enough of that crap already.
He's saying something I wish that every parent could hear -- communication is important in the parent child relationship. Good for him 💕
Condolences, Mr. Jackman.
It's devastating for any child to think they've been abandoned.
That applies to adults also. Especially physically, or emotionally vulnerable people whose health and survival is dependent on others, as with a child.
What an absolutely lovely man. He is so incredibly talented and deserves his success and personal happiness. He is always so open, humble and personable, never arrogant like some A list celebrities.
Wow, this is definitely a powerful movie. I went thru this exact situation with my son when he was 17. It teaches you that your child isn't a wall. They need attention, communication, acknowledge is so many ways. My son struggled with mental health and suicide for years, it never prepares you for these situation. It teaches you to be aware of whats going on with your children more and be ready for when a ny situation calls for your attention. Now because of this, I am such a strong person.
I am so glad things have been working out well for all of the family.
@@Xx-ib6bf Thank you. It is never an easy path to deal with.
Thank you for sharing this. I am currently going through the same situation with my daughter (16yo). Does it get better when they leave adolescence?
My dad left my mom and her three beautiful boys for her "best friend." We all went through a depressed and hellish childhood as a result. All three of us had drug and alcohol problems as adults, which I long ago overcame. My younger brother committed suicide at 24. My dad died about ten years ago. My older brother went to see him in the hospital before he died, but I just couldn't do it. Especially with his lowlife hag being there. She FINALLY died a couple of years ago at age 96. Man, that old witch hung on for a long time. LOL
I think if my parents had split up and then my dad met this woman, I wouldn't have had the same kind of animosity toward her. But how can you ever have good feelings about someone who is willing to harm her best friend and her three young children so deeply for her own selfish needs? And to top it off, she doesn't think she did anything wrong. Pure sociopath. My dad said it was his one chance at happiness. Well, your kids paid a terrible price for your happiness. Hope it was worth it.
@@agoujon it can get better with time or worse, it really depends on what kind of mental health issues shes experiencing. I recommend getting professional help while she is still under 18 while you still have guardianship as it becomes very difficult once past 18 unless the person is willing to accept help.
What absolutely lovely people - Stephen and Hugh.
Among the most centered, grounded, brilliant talents of a generation. A human being. Humble, courageous, gracious… Best wishes, health, joy and wellbeing…
That short clip was so intense, I got chills.
I was in tears after a thirty second performance!
So sorry for your loss... glad you have loved ones and work to help you get through it.
OMG that was a powerful performance and so sorry to hear about Hugh's father.
So sorry for your father passing Hugh! He sure did raise a great person that is so talented, personable, and handsome🥰.
Hugh is so cool. Like the coolest guy.
If anyone wants to learn more about Hugh Jackman, SAG did an amazing interview with him. It's over an hour long and it's very interesting
Sometimes I forget that he’s a whole different person than when he’s acting. Top tier actor.
As a parent that clip gave me so much anxiety...
I hate how they cut off these great interviews. They could have spent 30 minutes talking about fatherhood, parenting, etc.
His performance as a Father in Prisoners is one of my all time favourites.
Powerful and important roles you are addressing.
Thank you
I think Stephen cried a little there. Understandably. That was a powerful scene, and the ramifications of it does make you think and feel. As a dad myself, I felt it too, even though my kids are younger.
damn, killing the dramatic roles too! impressive dude!
"The Son" is going to be a tough movie to watch.
My word...
It's often said "America's Sweetheart" this and that...
Hugh is an INTERNATIONAL SWEETHEART! 😍
He's Australias sweetheart
The son running away like a scared cat that took a sec to realise it angered the human 😂
Give this man an Oscar already such an incredible actor!!
Wow, that clip from the film! Incredible acting! Blown away!
That moment--when his son leaves and he's standing there--I felt my own heart sink. It's the moment you fear you've lost someone's love forever. It can kill you. Bravo, Mr. Jackman. Brilliant.
Sorry to hear of his father's passing, that changed me as well... props to you Hugh
Hugh Jackman is a national treasure and I am dreadfully waiting for this movie on Friday. It’s true what he says when it’s going to start many conversations including mental health and I hope everyone struggling will get help 🙏🏽
Hugh may have been the only other possible Aragorn in The Lord of The Rings... And even still impossible to imagine.
Bloody top bloke, I recon. True blue Aussie.
Pleeeeeeeease start numbering these videos. I want to watch them in order.
Ah shit, I'm gonna have to watch this film. My sister and I both have severe mental health problems and our parents haven't always been the best at dealing with it but we're also at fault. Maybe this will give me some more perspective into what it's like for them.
I don't think blaming yourself for managing your mental health the best way you knew how, at the time, is fair. Having increasing awareness of your parents' perspective, and better strategies to deal with your mental health, for their sake, and yours, is all about listening to yourself and others (it's your prerogative to reject what doesn't fit) understanding to the best of your ability at the time, responsibility for the things you can take responsibility for, willingness to think differently, and do some things differently, and Compassion. There is no use, or relevance for blame. Rage, and fear, and other powerful experiences, expressed safely, is the stinging cleaning out of the wound. Understanding and compassion for yourself, and others, is the healing gel.
We all do the best we know how, with the cards we are dealt. Blaming yourself is unreasonable, unhelpful and redundant. Taking esponsibility for how we manage things is where it's at, and a foundational aspect of emotional maturity. We get better at managing life's challenges with increasing awareness, understanding and compassion.
My life is certainly no easier, but I haven't been in a psych. ward for over half my life, now. It's how you deal with cards that counts, and determines your quality of life. Truth, understanding and compassion have been the stars I have tried my best to navigate my ship by. It works for me, and many I know. The water doesn't get less choppy, but I am better skilled now, and can appreciate a smoother experience, and am extremely glad I managed to stay aboard my life (although I fell out a few times!).
One nore thing: for me the key word that unlocks a better future is not 'hope', but 'possibility'. Where there is possibility, you know things can be different for a better quality of life. And our quality of life is dependent on what we make of what we have got. Very much including relationships. Maybe you have a powerful word that is a key that unlocks the future for you, too. Helping my child/ adolescent find their word made a difference. You will find more of what works for you.
My favorite actor ❤ 😇🥰😍🤩☺🤗the best 😊😊😊
I couldn’t watch this movie, it sounds devastating especially because of Anthony H and Hugh J being such great actors!
Good to hear the great Aussie accent on Stephen Colbert.
That's not Hugh Jackman, that's a _huge jacked man!_
I just love him, he's one of the best people out there.
Nicest guy in the hollywood
Top class!👌👌👌👌
So glad to hear all that, we should all strive to be better parents. Maybe then we too could be on the show. Oh, maybe as Oscar nod as well.
Why do you bother to watch?
Thanks 👍
This movie made me cry , especially all the years that I have worked in MH, you can't help someone that is suffering until they are ready to invest in thier own healing ❤
A huge fan of your work and most importantly of your decency and behavior towards your fans in general.
My condolences on the passing away of your beloved father may it be the last of grief in your life for a long time.
That scene just touch me so much I had I hard childhood and it did catch up to me so I’m now pronged to such outburst and I can hardly control them I will sure watch that movie.
You can tell this interview is cut out of order because the drink levels. I would have never known 🤯
They get filled.
@@morbidmanmusic
The glasses too.
man you just have to love hugh
I love Jack human
Hugh Jackman is the ultimate showman. Is there anything he can't do? Always love his conversations with Colbert. Hoping to see them doing a lengthy interview in the future
any kid who was abandoned by their dad will plummet without the right support especially when you choose another woman over your child's mother......they will know u didn't value their mom and will think they're not important as you new family...
Dunno if I'll be able to watch this one, hits too close to home 💕
Watching the movie the son I was constantly on edge as I've been through exactly the same thing. Our daughter was depressed, would cut herself which I'd never heard of, would say all the same things as in the movie but I couldn't understand why she would do these things. I had a problem with her emotional manner and also felt that she should just get on with it.
jesus christ this scene. As a kid who cried out in relief when my parents finally got divorced; Please don't forcefully stay together with a partner you're unhappy with just 'for the sake of the children'. It can be absolute hell for them too.
WOW!!!
Wow... that movie looks brutal
I watched it on a flight and cried way more than I expected.
Hugh jackman was greattttt👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
In the ( the son ) he makes great performance in this role.👏✔✔💯♥♥♥
I think ( unfairness) jackman doesnt get nommnation in awards season.
I thik he deserve ( oscar✅✅✅)
For his acting in this move.
He play ( fatherhood ) in senstive way.. we dont see actor show same before.. as a man.
Its suprising he never get what he deserve from critcs..and award season.
I wish he get at least nommnation in ( oscar )..
And i wish he get the ( oscccar 👑) in the end.. he do father feeling in deep way.
I shocked ( austin butler ) and ( tom crous) get nommanion..for what they act.. and hugh dont get his right.
Oscar must give jackman preference.
( hugh jackman .. in the son.. he is the best actor in the year.
And ( daniell deadwyler ) in the( till ) the best acctress in the year.
And ( brendan fraser ) share them.. he the best in his role ( the weal ).
( cate blanchet and austin buttler .. dont deserve it ).
He is so precious, and hot...
He will get the EGOT one day.
World class gentleman.
Thanks
I would watch anything with Hugh Jackman in it. But when he screams "it's my life, I have the right to reinvent my life" omg 😲 that's my life in a nutshell
Great interview
Crying this is real life
Wow, that scene in the movie really hits home for me (as the son). I'm not sure if I want to watch it, but I know I will. LOL
🖤🖤🖤
More talk about fathers and what they go through is lacking in all media, I think.
Bro the movie he’s promoting looks INTENSE 🥵 jeeze
I gotta go see that movie.
I wish.
I wish that one of the late night hosts would be allowed to do what Johnny and Merv used to do which was to have all the guests out and interacting.
Graham Norton in Great Britain is one such host. His show is also not all about what show/movie/Broadway/etc. is underway for the only guest allowed on at a time.
Is there anything this man can't do? Would like to share a moment and a pint with him.:)
#theSon.... his #favoriteScene... #CooCoo
Upload these videos in order or number them
Are we going to get the trilogy "and the holy spirit"?
❤️ 💙 💜
Hugh Jackman is such a good actor!
Thank you
❤
Huge Akman is delightful. I hope he's the same person in real life.
WoW hot 🔥 man an amazing actor!
The River
Is that clip Hugh Jackman looks so much in sound so much like Clint Eastwood. Wasn't what he was going for?
🌻
😎❤
🔥😍🔥
What has changed that we see alcohol drinks being served so often on your show now. ?
If you sut their waiting for people who failed to save you...guess where you ship is headed. This is, you can still find passengers and crew willing to crash with you, if you just step up.
Video 2of 2
It must be harder to be a parent when your away so much working on movies.
Huge Jackedman is great!
I feel like this is cute and all and I get it but this is not how life is for most people. Have you seen Precious? Most parents would have told you to get your ass up off the floor and stop acting so sensitive. They wouldn't care that they pushed you to the ground like that 🤣
Who cares?
I acted, now Im a better human than every one else.
Enough sycophancy.
Steven Colbert, please do talk about retirement. Your retirement will not be accepted!
I believe that Father should’ve started that riot act with a open-hand hard slap, then proceeded to berate the ungrateful disrespectful Child. Discipline! Real tough love!
He is like the (almost) perfect man. I am sure he does things that bugs his wife, but....damn.
P.S. CAN HE PLEASE WIN HIS OSCAR ALREADY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I think he deserves it.
🏳️🌈
Hugh got a double-break sit. That's star power.
Did anyone else notice Hugh Jackman's right elbow was looking like it was really swollen?
The Son is a clumsy rip off of Ordinary People. Bad screenplay with bad acting. 👎 it's overly predictable and overly depressing without having any point to its cruelty.
How about worried about how the bills get paid and the kids get fed.. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer..
Maybe they can go pick out some children at epstein island or comet pizza
Go Logan!
My father walked out when I was 5 or 6.
I've been alone almost all my life.

I hope you learn the skills of connecting with others, that you obviously missed out on learning as a child because your parents didn't know better. It's certainly more difficult to learn these fundamentals of life as an adult. It's definitely not too late to learn! That's the power of being an adult. You can change the patterns of the past, discover what is meaningful to you, and lead a different, far better quality life. 🤟
@@daniellamcgee4251 I'm ALIVE.
@@markdowse3572 That's a heck of an achievement!!! Kudos, and huge respect to you! Some people won't ever understand what extraordinary strength, and resilience, it takes just to be alive. My dad suicided when I was 9. His parents, and half sister, and an aunt of my mother's did also, before I was born, so it became normalized for me. I was a bit fixated on that for many years. Survival is huge, and worth it!
Personally, I wanted to move on to the next level, and work on quality of life, not just existence. That's about making the most of the life we have. As an adult, I get to choose what to make of the cards I have been dealt. We can't change the past, but we can change what we do with this moment now, and the future.
Just because your Dad had issues and left, that is no reflection on how lovable and worthy of care you always were. Your father's actions were a reflection of his deficiencies, not yours.
Just because we had less, doesn't mean we deserved less. You can welcome, and claim, the good, nurturing, rewarding stuff in life as your birthright, too. We are not subhuman, after all. No matter what we felt as kids. We are just as much part of the human race as anyone else, with the same human rights. Some of us have to put extra work into realising that, and allowing the good stuff in. 💗
