    Hey Glamfam! In this video I am discussing why it is that so many people struggle with what feels like constant dry hair, and how you can fix it, or identify what the issue even is! The number one cause of breakage is dryness, so we want to ensure we are correctly identifying and solving the issue. As always, if you have any questions, let me know in the comments! Until next time y'all, take care, God bless, and stay glam!

    What dries out my hair:
    1. Hard water
    2. Sulfate/clarifying/detoxing/stripping/chelating shampoo every week
    3. styling products daily...yes edge control is drying out your edges and that is why they are breaking off every day. I'm not even going to say anything about those who stick down their wigs daily. Y'all want edges or wigs? 😋
    4. having my hair out; ends flapping in the wind
    5. Not deep conditioning weekly
    6. Not spraying a leave-in mist daily
    7. Forgetting my satin/silk scarf/bonnet while sleeping/napping.
    8. cold air including airconditioning
    9. central heating in the winter
    10. excessive sun on my hair.
    the end. 😅🤣😂

      I have hard water but the water filter helped stop me from having dry hair and sometimes unknown rusty pipes can cause dry hair and the filter works for that also, and hydrating hair with rosewater and sealing with castor oil or mangobutter

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 Рік тому +22

      @@keshahunt1476 The water where I live is so hard that a filter that is supposed to last have a month, only lasts half a month. It's more economical and beneficial for me to use a chelating shampoo. I use As I Am Castor water because my scalp doesn't like raw oils or butter and my hair responds better to daily misting with that and leave in conditioner instead of trying to seal moisture in for several days.

      @@jeseka2470 process of elimination. And what Linwood said. Recently my hair felt dry so I went through each issue to see if that was a problem. I recently had a trim. i recently chelated and deep cobditioned. I'm not currently exposed to central heating, sun or air-conditioning. Hair is covered most of the time. No styling products recently used. I just increased applying my leave-in mist conditioner twice daily and wrapping my hair in a hot towel daily and that did the trick. Hair is no longer dry to touch. I used to keep a hair journal once I went natural to see how my hair responded to the seasons, travelling and different products.

      @diamond4270 Рік тому +9

      @@jeseka2470 right, but that's just what dries out that persons hair, it doesn't mean that it's the same for your hair. Deep conditioning, moisturizing every 3-4 days and protective styling (buns - tuckinf your ends in) is usually what helps most people. Some protein treatments if you don't have protein sensitive hair is also helpful.

    My hair started thinning significantly following an extremely stressful time I went through. So, I myself researched the internet and decided to experiment with the litttleextra coocoonion hair oil & a comb made of neem wood. It really really made a difference. At present, my hair is lengthy, dense, dark hair which has reached my waist & trimmed on three occasions since I began using it. Simple and good. Also, just as effective can be rubbing your scalp - it stimulates the growth. You just need to do this once a week. Pretty soon, you'll see new hair starting to grow.

I recently started using a satin pillow case, and that helps. I wet my hair everytime I take a shower, I use leave in conditioner, run my fingers thru it, let it air dry, put my head wrap on, and go about my day I avoid most hair products bc they smell too fruity and loud. I am THRILLED. I recently drove to an nearby city to purchase Tabitha Brown’s “Donna’s Sweet Potato Pie” line: the leave in conditioner, the extra creamy conditioner, and her creamy hair and scalp oil. It has truly transformed my super-porous, Sahara-dry, color-treated hair. No product testers these days so, $45 later, I walked out of the store, got in my car, put a handful of leave in then cream on my hair with some bottled water. If I hated anything (stinky, sticky, gummy, no slip, etc.), I was going to walk it back in and get my money back. My hair literally sucked it up and quickly became the hair I always wanted… curly- wild not frizzy-dry…I was shook. 😮
    So I wore it home, left it in for a few hours and washed my hair (I put in way too much), and did a twist out. My hair was beautiful…so many compliments. I rewet it and tried rollers with no heat for a looser curl…a little poofy-not too bad, but needed gel. Then I rewashed then flat ironed my hair myself using just the leave-in with heat protectant followed by a little cream-oil on the ends only. My ends held the straight look and did not frizz up. Not greasy. No poof either. Three days later, it’s still looking great; I just keep putting a little oil on my ends- like a dime size, for real. (I have never used a dime size of anything.) This product has transformed my super-dry hair. It is much softer, shinier, less breakage and more consistent. I walk in looking the same as I walked out.
    The sweet potato cinnamon smell took a little getting used to, but it fades overnight. I use much, much less product to maintain moisture for both straight and curly styles. I do plan to buy the shampoo and conditioner. I wish Tabitha Brown made travel sizes so everyone could test to see if it works for them. Well worth the money. (Nope. I don’t have any connection to her or her company.)

    I sectioned my hair like you would if doing braids and did this.
    For the first time my hair stayed very moisturized all week from scalp to end’s every strand using your tips and a little water with each section. Found I have a wavy pattern.
    Thank you so much! God bless you 🤍🕊️🤍🙏🥰

    Ouidad Curl Quencher line works wonder to moisturize your hair. I also oil my scalp with amlaki oil but the key is to gently massage scalp with it and let it on for only about 2-4 hours. You can then use a non-sulfate clarifying shampoo or a mild apple cider vinegar rinse, and use a deep conditioning mask and/or a leave-in....my hair LOVES leave-in conditioner. I then seal it with aloe vera gel.

    It also helps if people understand how their hair acts, is supposed to feel, react to the elements, etc. As opposed to trying to make their hair do what it doesn't normally. Understanding the difference between hydrating and moisturizing the hair. Working with a reputable licensed professional who understands our hair and not the UA-cam "stylists".

    This is excellent!!! I am so excited to hear a professional talk about hydration and its benefits throughout the entire video.
    Just today I had a conversation with a very well known product line because it’s used in our school and as an instructor, I need to know what’s offered for hydration, moisture, detoxification and fortification. I only saw shampoos for moisture retention and one conditioner for hydration.
    I was told moisture and hydration was technically the same. It’s a technical term used differently in different regions of the world. 😩
    Even teaching beauty professionals, I came to understand that most think the two are the same. 😔😢

    Love your videos!!! I took your advice from another video and followed 2 other UA-camrs who were more about the chemistry of hair. Using their videos I was able to find that now that my hair is high porosity due to highlights, I needed products with aloe vera, slippery elm, marshmallow root, etc and to make sure as I layer products they all have some or all of these products, the more the better. My hair has turned completely around! I cut off the heat damaged ends and I can see a big difference.
    Also thanks for the tip on the dryness we feel may be split ends. Never thought about it. So glad I found your channel.
