What is it about old games that make for the most hilarious episodes?! This is an old time favorite for me, next to the "Ronald McFrowland Kickstarter" episode.
I'm not really sure what they'd do with the ice climbers. With kid icarus they had a story and an interesting concept. Ice climbers is just two kids climbing a mountain. Not that nintendo hasn't done more with less, but it just doesn't seem like something that you could revive without some insane inspiration.
One ad I had to watch part-way through the video was a really well educated video about capitalism and political stuff (stuff I normally avoid because I hate messing with political people), but I was just busy with some work while watching oney plays so I just let it play. The video was interesting enough that I stopped working just to watch this guy for a while. Once the video was done, I thought to myself, "Hey, I think I just got a little bit more educated about the world." Then the Ad ended. "If his whiskers curl in, it means he is angry. If they curl out, it means he is double angry." Goodbye brain cells, it was fun while it lasted.
Actually Chris, the Ice Climbers were planned to be in the newest smash bros game from the very beginning. Unfortunately, they really wanted to make a Wii U and 3DS version. The Wii U could handle them fine, but the 3ds had severe issues with having essentially 8 characters on screen at once. In order to make things fair and equal between both versions, they decided to remove Ice Climbers so that the 3ds version wouldn't have less characters than the Wii U version. Fun fact: When the 3ds version was released, there was an audio glitch where getting the audience to cheer while playing as Villager against 3 dr. Marios on Yoshi's Island, the audience will cheer "Nana, Popo!" Instead of "Villager".
Ice Climbers were planned to make a return in Smash 4, but since they're technically 2 players in one, the maximum amount of characters that would be played with would be 8 on the 3ds. The Wii U would suffer similarly, with a possible total of 16 players at once if they were added. The Wii U and 3ds can't handle that many players, so they replaced them with Rosalina.
