Your neighbours must think you are the crazy wood man who talks to himself! 😀 Also, I love the more natural feel of the vids. Wrong bits and thinking about the stuff on camera. You need to script and plan the filming but the natural bits make it stand out 👍
This is looking fantastic, Matt! I've really enjoyed watching this go together - can't wait to see the finished workshop with everything in its right place
The home office build you did for your parents and now this are great how to videos in shed building with very handy links to some great products. Thanks for the time and effort you've put in sharing the build with us Matt
A good sized workshop and it's good to see it moving along nicely. When I built my workshop I invested in a hammer tacker for attaching the breathable membrane...an absolute godsend and I definitely had more fun with it too 🙂
Matthew you are flying!. Love your work ethic. I really don't want to intrude on your grief, I hope you have someone you trust that you talk to, it's so hard to carry all that weight yourself(I don't mean walls and windows). Take care of yourself Mate .I look forward to these vids, it the highlight of my Wednesdays(so much better than PMQs) Coincidentally I'm trying to turn my garden shed into a workshop, I've procrastinated for months and you've just built a shed from scratch in a few hours. Sometimes you've just gotta get your hands dirty. Really enjoyed your video and look forward to The next one. Stay well, stay safe. Thank you Matthew.
Great work. I love the idea of a custom build bespoke workshop. Need to price it up. As always it is do we fix the terrible double glazing, swap out the battered old car or do something more fun? Could do with a luck scratch card! Keep up the great videos, love the content
It's getting along quite nicely Matt! It'll turn out to be a dream of a workshop! By the looks of it it's already bigger than my woodshop, which is only 3x4 meters!
Thoughts are with you Matt, good to keep busy. It's very exciting to see the new workshop, it was you who inspired us to build our own workshop, 2 years on it's our absolute haven, thank you x
Hi Matt, that is some great progress on the new workshop, looking forward to when you make your first item, best regards from Australia a Kiwi living in Australia.
I understand the "I just want to do it by myself", I get very similar feelings :) Plus it's very nice to stand there at the end and you can say "I did that, all by myself" The bottom stops is a good tip, when I built my summer house myself I attached the diagonal bracing/leg to the wall before picking it up, for me it reduced the chance of me dropping it but it was a somewhat bigger wall.
Having framed and put up walls by myself for a small 8’x8’ forge, I can attest to how hard it is to do by yourself. But you really planned ahead and learned from your previous builds. Great job! I’m always sad when your videos end! More, more!
Hi Matt love your vids the last workshop you built had a curved roof can i ask why you have changed the design on this one thanks keep up the great work ethic
Hi Matt Great to see another building project, can't wait to follow your example building my own. One question, is there any benefit to covering the exterior of the walls on osb like you did in your garden building?
You are a hero Matt. I would have shot round to lend a hand but we seem to be a "step apart" from each other. The last job I had saw me with three different screwdriver heads... Nightmare... Bob (Weston super Mare)
I've just built a garden room using 2.4mtr lengths of 3 x 2. They must have been from different batches because they were all varied. I had to trim every one to the same length
I was thinking it would be better to screw in the batten to the base first so you can adjust and then screw the wall frame without it moving but you found that out yourself later in the video too. Great work on the build and look after yourself.
Any reason why you didn't sheath the walls, like you did in the garden room? Currently planning my own workshop, big cost of the build is the OSB sheathing!
It looks great and you make it look easy too but I'm sure it wasn't. The mitre saw ends really came into their own too. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Great stuff. You'll be in your new workshop in no time. Are you keeping tabs on the building costs, as I'm always keen to see what the savings are over a manufactured product. Totally understand that you're building a much stronger and purpose built building.
where are you getting your framing wood from at the moment? very new to all of this and nearly choked on the price of the wood. I worked out what it would take to frame a greenhouse and it seemed cheaper to just go and buy one! Not the point of DIY though!!
This is absolutely awesome to show the process can be done by one person. I would like to do this as well but have had hesitant thoughts that I might not be able to alone. Very nice Matt! Quick question, did you go to school for anything like this or have you just learned on the go?
nice job i did something similar a during covid and it working out great i put metal sheeting on the walls instead of wood and 100mm hard foam insulation in the walls and roof.
What kind of winds do you get in your area? Looks like the space you have is pretty well sheltered by adjacent walls, but did you think about whether screws through the sole plates on the wall sections would provide enough strength to prevent wind from lifting the entire structure? It might be worth adding a few metal straps screwed into the base and into the outside of the studs just to be cautious.
Hi Matt, thanks for the video, very informative and helpful. I have a similar project to do in the coming months. Can I ask, do you source your materials locally or do you use an online company and have them delivered. Can I ask also how you workout the overall length and qty of wood required for a project like this? Many thanks. Keep up the great work.
I ordered online from a few businesses. I made a quick sketch of the building with all the studs spaced out. I had a few bits left over but I will always use them.
I'm putting a new.roof on my shed. Do I go for 18 mm hardwood ply or 18 mm usb. The difference in price is about £60 but I'm worried about edge delamination. Do I have to wait to next week to find out? Advice would be gratefully accepted. THANKS
Well done Matt… it’s very motivating watching you do all of this on your own. I’m moving at the end of march and will be hoping to do something similar at our new place. Did you use treated timber for the walls?
I'm screwing with a power drill why do you keep squeezing the trigger on and off I don't know if I don't know if I don't know just try to screw in what is the purpose of that?
Excellent Matt, that came together beautifully, shouldn't be surprised as you're an old hand at this now ! Not a criticism, but why such a low roof pitch, I'm sure you have a good reason and all will become clear but thought I'd ask anyway ? You were very efficient and productive working all alone (the stops were a great idea btw) hoping all is Ok with you there !
Hi Matt 😊 I might have missed it in this or the previous video but did you mention what the dimensions will be (in the territorial denomination of your choosing)? Is it like 3.5m by 6m or something like that? With thanks and slight jealousy: Alex No Sheds
Enjoying the build, Matt. Good planning, it's going great so far. I can tell you were under pressure with your voice. Luckily, no hiccups. Nice one. Tony
Wasn't the framing around the windows ABIT of over kill as I wouldn't think you're going to get much if any sag/distortion if you did away with the two longer side pieces and just went with the shorter bottom and top pieces locked into the full hight uprights
Appropos of nothing, do those neighbors directly behind you EVER close their back door? Or do they just like heating the alley? Sorry. It just seems daft.
Breathable Membrane

great inspiration watching you work Matt, you have a wonderful manner about it too, thank you for sharing so much. all my best
The broom handle hack is a goodun.
Brilliant Mathew. Well thought out process.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you
Your neighbours must think you are the crazy wood man who talks to himself! 😀
Also, I love the more natural feel of the vids. Wrong bits and thinking about the stuff on camera. You need to script and plan the filming but the natural bits make it stand out 👍
I do get some strange looks as I work
Love that broom idea, simple but effective.
Yes is worked really well
This is looking fantastic, Matt! I've really enjoyed watching this go together - can't wait to see the finished workshop with everything in its right place
Thank you very much
The home office build you did for your parents and now this are great how to videos in shed building with very handy links to some great products. Thanks for the time and effort you've put in sharing the build with us Matt
Thank you very much
Great progress!
10:03 I think you need a bit magnet on your driver, helps a lot to have all the used bits on it.
A good sized workshop and it's good to see it moving along nicely. When I built my workshop I invested in a hammer tacker for attaching the breathable membrane...an absolute godsend and I definitely had more fun with it too 🙂
They do look good tools
Matthew you are flying!. Love your work ethic.

Thank you very much. I’m lucky to have a good friends
Great Job, using the broom is a great ideal i will have to try that when i vapor barrier the ceiling in my garage this summer
Brilliant
Very cool! I'm hoping for the return of your "Beware of the badgers" sign 😃
Yes when I find it
Great work. I love the idea of a custom build bespoke workshop. Need to price it up. As always it is do we fix the terrible double glazing, swap out the battered old car or do something more fun? Could do with a luck scratch card! Keep up the great videos, love the content

Sorry to hear about your Father passing away Matt. Hope you’re well and clearly keeping busy!
Thank you James. This has been a good project to get on with
Looking forward to the next video mate 👍

Thank you
Your new Badger set is coming together. Cool instructional video.
Thank you
Thoughts are with you Matt, good to keep busy. It's very exciting to see the new workshop, it was you who inspired us to build our own workshop, 2 years on it's our absolute haven, thank you x
Glad you love using yours. I’m very excited to have one again
Excited to see how this turns out!
Thank you
👍👍👍Thank you
You made that look very easy. Great testament to your skill.
Thank you
Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you
Hi Matt, that is some great progress on the new workshop, looking forward to when you make your first item, best regards from Australia a Kiwi living in Australia.
Thank you Les. I’m looking forward to making things in there
I understand the "I just want to do it by myself", I get very similar feelings :) Plus it's very nice to stand there at the end and you can say "I did that, all by myself" The bottom stops is a good tip, when I built my summer house myself I attached the diagonal bracing/leg to the wall before picking it up, for me it reduced the chance of me dropping it but it was a somewhat bigger wall.
That sounds like a good idea
I started watching you when you built the shepherds hut shop. I’m also enjoying this build.
Thank you Terri
Greetings from Dorset. Very nice build, looking forward to the next phase.
Thank you

Thank you very much. Hope you are enjoying using your forge
Great progress mate, you’ll soon be in there! Enjoyed the talking whilst working style of video 👍🏻
Thank you Kris
Starting to look good nice one Matt 🍺🍺👍👍
Thank you Brian
Hi Matt love your vids the last workshop you built had a curved roof can i ask why you have changed the design on this one thanks keep up the great work ethic
Nice stop technique at the bottom to hold walls in place
Seemed to work well
You made that look easy Matt!
Thanks Carl
Top stuff Mr Smith - have some of my Google tokens (I sell them photos of my receipts)
Thank you James. Very kind of you
Hi Matt

Thanks Bob. Different screw heads is a pet hate of mine
You made that look easy Matt.
Thank you Pete.
I've just built a garden room using 2.4mtr lengths of 3 x 2. They must have been from different batches because they were all varied. I had to trim every one to the same length
That sounds a pain
It was! It certainly was!
Sorry for your loss Matt, keep on keeping on👍
Thank you Craig
These building video are fantastic. Just watching you live my dream!!!!!!......... Thanks from London
Thank you Jon
Love it Matt, it's going to be a great place to work.
Thank you very much John
Great to see you getting started on the new shop. I have been looking forward to seeing this
Thank you Stephen
Hi Matt, good to see you starting on the new workshop. Hope everything is OK.
Thank you. I’m doing fine thanks.
Nicely done Matt. Amazing what one can manage alone.
Thank you David.
Your build made me think of a barn raising from films like "Witness" or "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" except you did it by yourself. Great stuff.
Thank you Robert
I was thinking it would be better to screw in the batten to the base first so you can adjust and then screw the wall frame without it moving but you found that out yourself later in the video too.
Great work on the build and look after yourself.
Thank you
Joli travail bravo, à bientôt salut Jeannot ⚒😉
Thank you
Another fantastic video, am I right in thinking the timber used for the walls is none treated? Thanks
That’s right
Listened to the podcast, keep busy. Always tough these things. 👍🏻
Enjoying the process
Thank you Doug
Absolute masterclass in how to do it. Some great tips too, like planning the saving of your vertical studs to match the insulation you’ll be using 👍👍
Thank you very much
Any reason why you didn't sheath the walls, like you did in the garden room? Currently planning my own workshop, big cost of the build is the OSB sheathing!
Fantastic work, Matt! 😃
It's going to be done in no time! Congrats!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you. It goes up quickly
Looking good - I'll have to remember the broom tip. It looks like your neighbours are shed enthusiasts as well.
Unfortunately the other sheds are just used for storage
Just finishing of my shed it’s great to see you building you new workshop really enjoying your journey 🎉
Thank you. Enjoy your shed
Great realistic build bud.
Thank you
Hi please can tell me about your tent shed regards
It looks great and you make it look easy too but I'm sure it wasn't. The mitre saw ends really came into their own too. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Thank you. Yes very glad I sorted the mitre saw first
Gonna be great Matt thanks for showing us how 👍👍👍
Thank you Len
Hi
How much did you spended on material to build shed like this?
Many thanks
NIce one, I'll be building something like this half the size (shed-purposes) by your very helpful videos! Tnx for sharing
Good luck with your build
I thought this would take you ages, but so far you have completed the floor and framing in under 40 minutes. You are AMAZEBALLS!
Thanks Mark. This is the quick bit. All the finishing seems to take ages
Excellent use us the word AMAZEBALLS but since the shoe fits, we’ll jam it on Matt’s foot
Good progress this week Matt. Well done
Thank you John
Great work Matt !! well done !!
Thank you
Looking awesome mate!
Thank you
Hi new to your channel you work well and keep a tidy work space,so often you see some one working in a mess but not you young man keep them coming
Thank you
Makes look very do able. Thanks
Thank you
Brilliant job! A bit of planning ahead of time pays off.
It does but I always forget something
Great work bud, sending love from Dorset
Thank you Josh

We don’t get strong winds

expecting a sloping roof as the right side is higher, rain catch to a drum or buried tank, solar perhaps
Yes a sloping roof
Just found your channel as I'm just starting my build. What timber did you use for the frame?
Hey, what height did you make the walls?
Indeed, what is an average height for a structure like this?
Thanks!

I used Osb
Well done Matt… it’s very motivating watching you do all of this on your own. I’m moving at the end of march and will be hoping to do something similar at our new place. Did you use treated timber for the walls?
Good luck with the move. Un treated for the walls as they will be covered.
👍👍👏
Hi what size is your wshop.👍
Cracking job there Matt. Is it gonna be big enough though?
I think so
I'm screwing with a power drill why do you keep squeezing the trigger on and off I don't know if I don't know if I don't know just try to screw in what is the purpose of that?
How much did this set you all back? Been looking at sheds myself but though could build something maybe better and bigger for the same price? 😊
I am keeping track of costs and will work it out when built
Excellent Matt, that came together beautifully, shouldn't be surprised as you're an old hand at this now !
Not a criticism, but why such a low roof pitch, I'm sure you have a good reason and all will become clear but thought I'd ask anyway ?

I want to maximise head space
Hi Matt 😊 I might have missed it in this or the previous video but did you mention what the dimensions will be (in the territorial denomination of your choosing)? Is it like 3.5m by 6m or something like that?
With thanks and slight jealousy: Alex No Sheds
Its 2.5m x 4m
What is the tent you are using?
From machine mart
Just finished a composter inspired by one of your videos.. now i need to make somthing else
Hope it is working well
Enjoying the build, Matt. Good planning, it's going great so far. I can tell you were under pressure with your voice. Luckily, no hiccups. Nice one. Tony
Thank you. Time and weather were definitely against me
Hi sir who did you find did the best price on your stud timbers . 😀👍
I got them from wickes with a trade discount
@@Badgerworkshop Thanks and keep up the good work 👍
How long were them VERY VERY LONG Screws? also where you get them? thanks
I have had them years. I think they are 200mm timbertock screws
Wasn't the framing around the windows ABIT of over kill as I wouldn't think you're going to get much if any sag/distortion if you did away with the two longer side pieces and just went with the shorter bottom and top pieces locked into the full hight uprights
Silly as it seems I’ve never thought of the stops or the broom idea 😅
Nor me... both great ideas!
When working on your own these little things really help
Appropos of nothing, do those neighbors directly behind you EVER close their back door? Or do they just like heating the alley? Sorry. It just seems daft.
