I never held these telescopic ladders in much regard - until I saw a 25st plumber take a fairly battered one and climb much higher than your shed on it. It was a toss up whether I was more surprised that the ladder could hold him or that he could climb it 😉
You’re a carpenter with a quiet character! I like it. An oasis retreat from all the loud and frantic guys. Seems no time since I watched you build your last shed!
Hi Matt, I noticed you seem to be a very happy lad getting into the workshop build. Weather looks like my dear old Tassy mate. Thems was the days. Launceston in Tassy is very much like that for weather. We had the "pea-soup" and the twilight till fairly late at night. However the temperate sub-tropical climate here in Brisbane cannot be sniffed at. Onya Matt !!
I loved the camera work where it was on the roof and suddenly a sheet of ply starts coming up without a visible person. I don’t know how you do all this by yourself. Impressive really.
you make everything look so easy. as the weather warms and hopefully dries a bit here in kent I hope to tackle our garden shed these next few months. thank you for the inspiration and the peaceful and thoughtful way in which you work it is an inspiration
Fantastic progress. You put me to shame with what you have achieved. I've really enjoyed watching this build and can't wait to see the finished workshop.
The rubber roof looks neat and tidy. I read that they last much longer than a felt roof so seems like an excellent choice and you don't have to worry about blocking up the eves like you would with roofing sheets. Looking forward to seeing the cladding stage.
The rubber membrane is a far superior roof covering than felt in my opinion. I used it when I built my workshop about 5 or 6 years ago and it still looks perfect. It's a fair bit more expensive than felt, but if memory serves it's guaranteed for something like 40 years.
Take heart Matt, the weather app never shows rain when it rains and never rains when it shows rain. Very informative vid since my shed (old roofing) is starting to leak, so might take the roofing you just put on. Well done and coming along nicely.
It's always a milestone getting the roof on and the structure watertight, that rubber (butyl ?) membrane looks great and should last a good long time hopefully ! Working alone on a project like this means a lot of up and down ladders etc, I bet you could feel it in your calves at the end of the day ! Looking forward to the cladding going on Matt !
Great job Matt especially doing the rubber on the roof, getting the air out using the brush was a good idea personally i would have used a paint roller and rolled the whole roof to get the air out, but it seems to have worked. What are odds though that you plan some outside work because the weather app says no rain, then it rains??? typical of our weather that. Stay Safe. Barry (Wirral)
These days I’ve revolutionised my dust removal with a cordless blower. Works great for clear the dust from my workshop - mask on and blow it out the door
Looking great Matt! Do you have a plan to do a video about your new layout inside the workshop, would be really interesting to hear about how you've planned it etc
Hi Matt, that is some excellent progresx on the new shec, it looks absolutely fantastic, you must be verh p,easec and proud of yourself, great work, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍
It is coming on Matt. If it makes you feel any better it would not be the first time I have stood showing my phone the rain while shouting ‘how are you so wrong look!’
You don't need battens to redirect the water if you don't want. You can buy upstands with your rubber roof. I imagine Matt was too cheap to buy them or didn't like the look.
Yes that was the bit that confused me. I thought these kits came with all the kerb edge and gutter edge trims that you just nailed to the fascia boards. But no reason why a bit of battening under the EPDM wouldn’t also work.
Would agree with you on the Bedec Barn paint. We're in an exposed area and can get blasted with the wind and rain. I painted my soffits and facias around 4 years ago and they still look as good as new, good choice (also available in white!)
Hello Matt, good job. Only i see is a little bit bumpy floor, maybe thin OSB and it would be nice to have a solar panel on the roof for charging your station :) good luck! Greetings from Czech Rep.
Good effort mate. I’m watching with interest as I did a similar one man build during lockdown. Interesting to see where you’ve done things differently.
Looks great Matt. Can’t wait for the next video as I am tackling a similar project myself in April. Would be good to hear more about your choice of materials, methods etc when you do the next podcast as I feel like making those choices is half the battle!
It's great to see the roof on. Topping out in the building trade usually followed by a drink and a toast. Here's my toast. "Good luck and happiness to you Matthew. May you produce your best work yet from your new workshop ,may all your plans come to fruition and may you gain 1 million subscriptions. " To everyone else "peace ,good health and happiness". I also have a query regarding the best material for my own workshop roof. I've a choice between hardwood ply, softwood ply or osb. 18mm in all cases, I'm worried about delamination in the ply but I hate nailing into osb. Has anyone got definitive advice. I'm not sure of pros and cons as I'm a diy er not a builder. Cost difference at the moment is very minimal. Many thanks.
Just a heads up matt but for epdm roofing both the timber sheets and rubber need glue on them , then you wait for both to go transparent before securing the membrane down...also contact adhesive should always be used on the perimeter (150mm)
@@Badgerworkshop i understand what you're saying but for epdm to bond to timber it needs to be primed with the water based adhesive or the glued osb won't bond well to it.
Looks great and a great job done on your own. Amazing what can be achieved - what cladding are you going with or, more interestingly, vertical or horizontal???

Stay well Mark
Thank you
Love your roofing kit.
Nice mate it'd coming on well. Glad to see you using the good old wheelie bin workbench, a true legend in our work 👏 lol

Great work just a tip you should try and get secondhand OSB boards as some companies will sell and deliver at less then half price great work 👍

You're so lucky being tall. I'm only 5' 6" and everything was done on steps which was not a good idea with loose and uneven ground
So interesting to see the difference between construction where you are and here in the US. Thanks Matt.
Yes we do things quite differently

Nice to see your new workshop coming along. Got me thinking about building one now! Roof looks alot easyer than the curved cladding for shepherds hut.
Yea definitely easier
Nice job
Thank you
Looks absolutely brilliant, so enjoying watching this series - thank you for posting this 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much
I’m loving the shed build. But I’m loving that hat too. Seriously.
Thank you Terri
Good work I look forward to Wednesday for the next episode

Is this your pitch to get a job with Liam at Oakwood Garden Rooms😉
Thanks for the video! Cheers from Finland.

Great roofing product.
It does work well
It’s looking good 👍
Thank you Jo
Very much enjoying the cameos from Matt's neighbours 👍
I hope they don’t watch
I wonder what they think of you talking to yourself / the camera?
Hi Matt. That rubber roof membrane make a nice quick job. Your cracking on now. Tony
Thank you. Yes it’s very quick to install
These days I’ve revolutionised my dust removal with a cordless blower. Works great for clear the dust from my workshop - mask on and blow it out the door
That would speed things up
Doin a great job Matt, can't wait for the next video, take care Mate !!!.
Thank you Brian
Fantastic, Matt! It's going to be ready in no time! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you. It’s going up quick
Looking great Matt! Do you have a plan to do a video about your new layout inside the workshop, would be really interesting to hear about how you've planned it etc
Thank you. Yes I might do
The roof looks fantastic and the rubber looks really easy to put down.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw

Looks great, where did you get the rubber roof lining kit from?
You have a Knack for making it all sound so simple.
Thank you very much
Never heard of rubber for roofing. Looks good
It’s a good system
Great video Matt 👍
Thank you

Mate of mine from work had this rubber roofing on his garage and I’ve been interested in it for a while now. Glad you put this video up.
I think it’s a great system
Nice build. Going to be a nice workshop
Thank you
loved it, please share the next steps as well...
Thank you. I will
Top job Matt 👌
Thank you Gavin
Great work
Thank you.
Always love a good shed build.
Me too
How did you get a flush trim at the back of the over hanging roof bit from on top?
@@frederickwood9116 I lined the rail square up with the end of the building

Like the roofing - seems nice and easy compared to felt etc ...

Hi Matt interested in the roof kit. where did it come from please? Cheers Dave Reece

I do like the roofing material you use. Have you got a new link as the one in your other video is saying it's unavailable
Search rubber roof on eBay
