Another hopefully useful tip: instead of buying expensive healing potions (Harspud Sauce) just buy a bunch of empty bottles. Then go to the Healing Spring at Deos Hills (near Hillfigure Knoll) and give each pawn 10 empty bottles. Step into the Spring and the pawns will fill these empty bottles with water from the healing spring. Fill your own empty bottles also. Not only are empty bottles much cheaper than healing potions, the filled bottles are also a bit lighter than Harspud Sauces (iirc, not really sure about that) and when used in combat either by your pawns or by yourself, they always heal the entire party! Just set up a port crystal at the Deos Hill Healing Spring so you can easily fast travel there and fill new bottles quickly and - best of all - free of charge.
I played this game in ps3 before but now i just bought it for ps4 and I made my Pawn with the likeness of my late wife, so i can bring her and have adventure with her ^_^

One hint/tip is when you get to the Encampment and get the quest to kill the Cyclops just outside the gate, before you leave, get the quest to kill 3 Cyclops on the board before you do. I've never seen this mentioned in any other tutorial. It's a fairly easy kill with 3 or 4 throw blasts

Just wanted to stress. Min/max is a myth. The only real important stats are health and stamina. Your gear and augments will do the rest of the work. Focus on the classes you love.
Yeah, I started on the 360 back in the day too. Keep in mind the Berserker Armor for Guts and the Hawk armor are no longer in the game for PC. SWITCH, PS4. or XB1. Just a heads up.
Yes it is. The same team that worked on this also worked on Monster Hunter World. Seems DD2 will be a combination of those two games. Based off the game play they have shown.
I also have another tip, one which sounds stupid, but makes a lot of sense: Install a mod that restores the original theme song to the menus. Dark Arisen took out the original menu music and replaced it with a serviceable, kinda whiny tune. There are two mods out there that fix this issue, one of which actually allows you to hear both themes on the menu. And this is VERY important, because the original theme song from Vanilla Dragon's Dogma? *THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEEEE~*
They now have so much tech and lessons learned from monster hunter and other Capcom titles that I hope only adds to the next game. So far Capcom has been killing it.
I got this game for Christmas and i been holding off on it, mostly cause i also finally got Smash Ultimate, i am always bit nervous going into a new RPG experience so i hope this vid helps me in the long run
My only advice is the game really opens up and gets fun after that stupid escort the hydra head mission. If the video helps you, let me know, and good luck Arisen.
Great great game well worth playing (or replaying). PC has a modpack out that greatly improves many of the annoyances in the game without breaking it. (like carry weight, nude skins, etc)
We have all been there. Understand that there are enemies in the game waiting for a higher level of yourself. The areas do NOT level with you like Skyrim. If something is to hard, move on. By the end game you will be a living God that dunks on anything you cross. I promise
do you know if you can bind items to the d-pad on the steam version, please? I know this is possible on some console versions. I think if you bind these to items it'll be much better than having the pawn commands. If you just limit the pawns arsenal to what is actually needed for any specific encounter, they will only use those spells anyway. like just give her fire spells at the start, as everything is weak to fire.
Possibly your settings. Especially if you use UA-cam primarily for music. Also, if you turn on cc (close captioning) it will dictate what is being said on screen. Hope that helps.
I wish I knew the carry weight thing BEFORE making a tiny lil archer girl. Just my armor alone n im at average weight. 1 friggin leaf n I die from overencumbrance. I wish I could change my body type....
When I choose a quest I cannot locate where do I need to go for that quest. Also I choose mage whenever I cast a any boom spell like fire boom, ice boom etc the spel power goes to my pawn to enhance his gear and not to my staff, because of this I cannot use that power. Please answer these questions.
So some quests are hunting quests that have many locations like: kill 7 chimera. In this case it won't give you a location as there are many in different locations. Same with items that have many different locations. Also, the quest board located in the market usually has those items acquired by completing secondary missions like the Thief quests. For mage boons your class is only to boost or buff the weapons of others in the party. To do magic "damage" use spells that damage. A soc would be better of your trying to cast for damage.
You can jse the right stick to click and aim it to yourself you might have to click the left stick first to activate the aiming system you can use it with fire ball too and withlevin and anodyne etc
I completely skipped over this game back in the day - just started playing it because I got it with my 2nd hand PS3 (old FAT PS3 so I can play PS2 + PS3 games). It's f**king amazing! Only thing I want more - is some expansion like crafting weapons/armor (200 weapons are not enough!) and additional areas by travelling on boat to a new land...for example... Dragon-forged is amazing though, such a good mechanic!
So don't buy anything. The best weapons are found early on, or obtained through quest boards. Later in the game it will be all about Bitter Black Island and the level 3 farming. I have just returned from a deployment and I am working on the Endgame Guide
@@jakewes6642 I don't have a problem with having good gear, I ended up on bitter isle at low level simply because I wanted to turn in quests at home town. I just find variety/crafting system to be satisfying (and with all the possible ways they could implement it). All the best, enjoy your time home!
After beating the game you can go back and edit the look of your pawn and arisen at any time and as much as you want. That ability will be bought from the RC seller in the first fort by the rift stone you first meet your pawn at. It's the letter of metamorphosis.
I was told that acquiring discipline points works on a regressive Exp scale AKA when you gain exp a percentage of that experience is given as discipline, the lower the exp you acquire per kill the higher percentage of that will be given as discipline points. If i recall each vocation adds a multiplier to the stats it focuses on so your magic will level more each time you level up if playing a sorcerer or mage for example. Am i correct hare?
You are also right that vocations upgrade by number of enemies killed and not really exp. So killing tons of goblins will max a vocation out faster than just beating up dragons all day.
Just don't wonder around. Take time to complete early quest boards for solid gear, realize some enemies "require magic and are immune to physical attack", and don't buy hardly anything at the stores. Stick to the notice boards, and resist them often. For your first play through Escort missions can mostly be ignored till you get a few port crystals for fast travel.
Hi! Great guide, just bought this game on steam and playing through for the first time :) Is there a way to see beforehand what missions or areas will be too high level for you? I'm doing a quest to liberate a fort from goblins and I had to sprint past a chimera and a dragon lol
@@jakewes6642 - I was more concerned about leveling past level 10 as a mage when I wanted to jump to sorc as soon as I am able. From what I am reading you lose power if you don't do it at level 10. Am I right?

Hell fire cloak. It's a level 3 bitter black cloak. To learn how to farm for that high level stuff head to my end game guide for details. Understand wearing this equipment before level 100 will penalize your pawn and arisen through strains on your stamina. Thank you so much for leaving me comment and watching my video. We are a small channel and every little bit helps... even though we are no monetize it makes us feel good.
I left it out since I find it to be a waste of time. There isn't anything you need from him worth having outside of maybe port crystals. Even then that felt more like a Dragon's Dogma End Game guide (which we are working on). I might mention the black cat then but almost everything you need to know for late game is going to be BBI focused.
@@jakewes6642 well I thought I'd bring it up mostly because you can dupe upgrade materials Edit: while I do disagree with you saying that there not much worth having mostly because of how useful some of the weapons can be in the early game (specifically on hard) like force hatchet, caged fury, Bezel crown that's my opinion and why I disagree force hatchet works with an assassin's bow and can pretty fun. But I guess it's not for everyone I know that might have sounded rude but that's not my intention merely that some items in the black cat are worth your time.😊
I've tried to create a character, so I went "STATUS" and then "PROFILE."I couldnt get to change name, gender, etc. This happens whether I use a kybrd and mouse or controller. I must be missing something obvious? Using windows pc.
Vocation leveling is based off the number of enemies killed and not experienve points. So killing tons of bandits, goblins, or waiting till the Duke sends his guards after you for killing Girgori will be a fast and easy way to level vocations up.
Tl;Dr I looked this up after fumbling about for like 10 hours, and yup. I made the mistake of going west. Glad to know DD doesn't use level scaling. However, how do I know which quest is story related? I'm the asshole who accepts every quest I can

You can give general commands like go and come. But giving alot of commands can change their inclination (how they react in the world). Same as when your pawn sees you pick up items, over time they will primarily pick up items even during a fight. So you can't give specific commands, no.
Why do people prefer to hire female pawns? Personally, when one say's warrior a female character is not the first thought that I have. Why not hire a pawn by the skills that they bring instead of being prejudiced toward females? Dragon's Dogma is one of the best games for the combat/fighting systems that there is. I've tried slot of other rpg games and most don't come close to the combat mechanics of Dragon's Dogma, not even Skyrim and I also like that game as well.
It probably has to do psychology. "Most" players are men and they probably don't have pawn vpice chat turned off. Performing to hear "Keep the lantern dry" in a female voice rather than a male's. At any rate I figured I would just give yall the honest truth. I agree, I enjoy the combat so much I can just keep playing it even years later. We have an end game guide as well if you want to check that out and a detailed guide on the UR-DRAGON.
I can see that. It's a dated design made by those who make Devil May Cry. This was their first attempt at a game like this. Then they made the Online version which was a Japanese only MMORPG. A different director worked on BBI during the Dragons Dogma Online fielding. For the pawns, I would look up the inclination guide on the Wikipedia. The game does a pretty poor job explaining this and the wiki really helps. A tip I use is find out what you want your pawn to do and limit them. I want my Strider to just spam Brain Splitter so I only have that move on her. I also want her to spam 10 fold Bolt with a rusty bow to inflict torpor so that is her only archery skill. Tricks like that help. Also, using commands like Go and Come can over time change a pawns inclination so avoid using those commands and instead just regularly check their inclination to make sure it hasn't changed on you.
Well I never played this game and instantly went out came across some bandits and they annihilated us. I did not upgrade anything and somehow missed that whole mechanic. So know you know why I’m watching this video and I know what I did wrong. I’m still less than a novice at this game despite having played games longer than most of you have been alive. I was one of the first people who beat MotherBrain in the original “Metroid!”
True. If you have another profile it really helps as you can just feed your primary account RC the entire time. Which might be a reason as to why they don't allow it. Also Dragons Dogma 2 has officially be announced is in development by Capcom as of this week.
I don't need to know this, i bought, played, and beat this game in 2012 and again around 2013. I bought it on Switch and i'm hyped to jump back in again and doing that thing... yeah you know. Kind of like when you watch the review for the game you already bought? Shut up! Keep scrollin chump!
It is. It's far less difficult. Once you get past that really lame "escort the hydra head" mission, that game is very fun. The maker of this game is the same people who made the Devil May Cry Games. So the combat is on point. Story is kinda. Meh. It's the combat that keeps people coming back. It has a great and long end game as well. As people say, "Once you beat the game, the game starts," lol
I cant belive my entire life has been wasted not knowing about this game! I have beat every major video game to come out in the past 15 years but i kept getting this game mixed up with dragon age which i had on my "to play when there truly hasnt been any good games innonths" list so i kept ignoring ppl or suggestions to play it. I simply cannot velive a game this good came out sonlong ago and only now has capcom decided to make another...this game is skyrim levels good, the monster climing, the spells...ah man if capcom just refranes from making the sequel into another ESG cringefest and just sticks to classic japanese game making standards it will be a slam dunk gameof the year for capcom especially due to everyone wanting a proper high fantasy game ever since bethesda showed they will definitely ruin es6. Guys keep your fingers crossed capcom doesnt listen to a single western investment firm or mentally ill reset era degen. (Also side note thank god for japan, if it wernt for thefact they are ultra based we would have literally only indie games left os a medium of entertainment. Thank god japan, stay based!)

Thank you, very much.
The most important tip.
Wolves hunt in packs, and are weak to fire.
I played this game when I came out but haven't and just downloaded it and this is extremely helpful 👌
I'm glad it helped! If you stick with it we have an end game guide to help as well. Good luck Arisen!
Just wanted to stress. Min/max is a myth. The only real important stats are health and stamina. Your gear and augments will do the rest of the work. Focus on the classes you love.
Yep. 1:57 , just enjoy the game in whatever vocation you wish
I love this game just certain things I would fix and add.
BRO THANK YOU FOR THIS IN 2022!
No problem brother. Hope it helps and there are 2 more videos when you need them.
This game is so huge and slow, but when you start playing its hard to stop
That escort mission really turns a lot of people off early on but man does it pick up.
I’m always getting lost I have no idea what to do
Lol! Tell me about it, I'm pushing 20,000 hrs and still going.
Thks i have been re enjoying the game your video help as a great refresher of the game been a minute. Since i played it on the 360 thk u
Yeah, I started on the 360 back in the day too. Keep in mind the Berserker Armor for Guts and the Hawk armor are no longer in the game for PC. SWITCH, PS4. or XB1. Just a heads up.
Do you still play it on the 360?
DD2 is on the way!
Yes it is. The same team that worked on this also worked on Monster Hunter World. Seems DD2 will be a combination of those two games. Based off the game play they have shown.
Thanks I have the game on PS3 and just got it for PS4 on a PSN sale. Needed tips because I basically forgot everything
Good luck Arisen!
I also have another tip, one which sounds stupid, but makes a lot of sense:
Install a mod that restores the original theme song to the menus.
Nice! Helpful to the PC ppl out there
Character creator for DD2 is going to be even beefier 🤤
They now have so much tech and lessons learned from monster hunter and other Capcom titles that I hope only adds to the next game. So far Capcom has been killing it.
Just bought this game on sale for 5 bux. Just made my character and am currently looting the starting village lol.
The game really takes off after the deliver the hydra head. Really opens up
@@jakewes6642 what class do you recommend? I chose strider but now I'm thinking maybe I should of gone with the mage
@@DarthRaver-og7qq to be honest, for your first play through just try everything. Don't go for a build.
Well guys . DD2 confirmed this week for march 22nd next year (2024) Cheers Jedbullet _the_Pawn iirc been so long
The animated series is coming to Netflix this September.
On the 17th
I got this game for Christmas and i been holding off on it, mostly cause i also finally got Smash Ultimate, i am always bit nervous going into a new RPG experience so i hope this vid helps me in the long run
My only advice is the game really opens up and gets fun after that stupid escort the hydra head mission.
If the video helps you, let me know, and good luck Arisen.
Great great game well worth playing (or replaying). PC has a modpack out that greatly improves many of the annoyances in the game without breaking it. (like carry weight, nude skins, etc)
"nude skins" "greatly improves many of the annoyances in the game"
What a shit comment.
I have nc wtf im am doing i spent a hour farming a cyclops neat se harpe somewhere near a cliff i took about a hour to kill it with bow skills
I think you might have to Google or wiki anything PC related. I have only ever had the Xbox version
Would love to watch the vid but the background music is blazingly louder than the commentary. Thank you though. Just trying to get ready for DD2
Possibly your settings. Especially if you use UA-cam primarily for music. Also, if you turn on cc (close captioning) it will dictate what is being said on screen. Hope that helps.
Covid quarantine brought me here...
I wish I knew the carry weight thing BEFORE making a tiny lil archer girl. Just my armor alone n im at average weight. 1 friggin leaf n I die from overencumbrance. I wish I could change my body type....
A good work around is to change your pawn to be big and tall as a pack mule for you.
Thanks, I'm hopelessly lost.
Np, the game doesn't do a very good job explaining things.
I mad my my pawn size 3 as she's a mage and I want to her to actually be downloaded by people. I made my character as tall as possible though.
Yep you’re right about the vocation specific upgrades !
You are also right that vocations upgrade by number of enemies killed and not really exp. So killing tons of goblins will max a vocation out faster than just beating up dragons all day.
Your Arisen looks a lot like Bronson
Coming from fallout 4 to this I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing lol.
Well, I hope this helped or at least explained some systems to best use your time and gold
1:44 Dragon's Dong Ma?
Great game for people that like to play Dark Souls like games.
I am terrible at those games
@@jakewes6642 I’m way better at dark souls than this one I’m getting my ass kicked
I’ve had this game for 5 years. Why did I click this video?
Missed it? Your definitely not a beginner! Lol
@@jakewes6642 hahaha
Hi! Great guide, just bought this game on steam and playing through for the first time :) Is there a way to see beforehand what missions or areas will be too high level for you? I'm doing a quest to liberate a fort from goblins and I had to sprint past a chimera and a dragon lol
All areas furthest from grand soren are the more difficult in the beginning. Chimera, Trolls, and griffin are your mini bosses at the level 1-50s.
How do you upgrade your vocation right at level 10? What are the exact steps so I don't miss it. I am a Mage but want to be a sorc as soon as I can.
Vocation leveling is based off "number of enemies killed". So farm killing things you can easily drop. Like goblins.
@@jakewes6642 - I was more concerned about leveling past level 10 as a mage when I wanted to jump to sorc as soon as I am able. From what I am reading you lose power if you don't do it at level 10. Am I right?
@Emp6ft10in sorta, so you will get more Magic damage if you go 10 to 200 as a soc. But it's barely noticeable even if you wait till level 15.
Hi i play now fresh Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen on pc does someone from you play on pc too and can rent my pawn so i get these items and irent your pawn
I play on the Xbox One. While we do have a gaming PC with Wes, he doesn't play this on his PC. Join discord, Facebook or social media groups, or reddit groups and let people know you need RC. They will flood you with help!
I played this game for a minute back in 2017, shit was tight but I just couldn’t wrap my head around the mechanics. Boutta watch some vids and go hard
Once you hit the end game you enter into God mode damage dealing.
What is the name of your armor bro plus that cape! So good looking im using strider too
Hell fire cloak.
You forgot to cover Black cat items as you can't find those items in the game they have to be bought in the capital
@@jakewes6642 well I thought I'd bring it up mostly because you can dupe upgrade materials
Edit: while I do disagree with you saying that there not much worth having mostly because of how useful some of the weapons can be in the early game (specifically on hard) like force hatchet, caged fury, Bezel crown that's my opinion and why I disagree force hatchet works with an assassin's bow and can pretty fun. But I guess it's not for everyone I know that might have sounded rude but that's not my intention merely that some items in the black cat are worth your time.😊
I might include it in the next guide. I see where your heads at. Thanks for the feed back.
I've tried to create a character, so I went "STATUS" and then "PROFILE."I couldnt get to change name, gender, etc. This happens whether I use a kybrd and mouse or controller. I must be missing something obvious? Using windows pc.
Sorry, I don't have this game on PC. I hope someone see this and offers you so help.
@@jakewes6642 Thanks for the info!
what's the trick for levelling vocations?
Kill everything 😂 think the only way to level them is by gaining xp from killing bandits, monsters ect....
I'm the asshole who accepts every quest I can
Should have a "Main Quest" notation over it. I don't recall off memory.
Where do I find the crystals for fast travel
dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Portcrystal
so many items i have and i have no idea what to do with them and some of them look important.... am lvl 40
Its a never ending circle. The end of the game just starts again at the beginning with everything you earned thus far. So use any items you wish!
Check out my end game guide to learn more
I'm playing on the switch, is the online mode free? Or there hidden charges? Thanks
4 dollars a month, 35 dollars for a year for online Switch use. Just Google it. Capcom doesn't have a second thing to buy to play online
The music is soooo loud in this tutorial
Yeah it's been brought up. Turn on the close captions as a work around. We are kinda new at this

Can you control your pawns?

The pawn system is cool but also kinda irritating.
I am glad the video found some use. Great job on that OG game ;)
The biggest issue this game has is that you can't make multiple saves.
True. If you have another profile it really helps as you can just feed your primary account RC the entire time. Which might be a reason as to why they don't allow it.
Also Dragons Dogma 2 has officially be announced is in development by Capcom as of this week.
@@jakewes6642 I expect that is the reason. I saw the announcement, this is the best gaming news in a while. Hope it is good and comes out soon.
It's just fun seeing things about a game you love. I get it.
Guys is this game any good or i just play dark souls2
Tried to enjoy the game but kept dying... and dying and dying.
You have it on hard mode?
