    Having fuel in the tank makes a big difference, you have a mismatch comparison, I'd do quater maybe half tank, traction on traction off runs, that be a better comparison

    Awesome!! This is uncanny. I have been researching the new Camaros (2020 +) for the past year, and have been on the fence between the LT1 and the 1SS. I would love the SS with the 1LE Track Package, but my "consolation prize" is to save money, go for the LT1 (same powerplant as the SS), and upgrade the tires with a new tire/wheel combo. I actually was researching the EXACT SAME Firestone Indy 500 tires you showed in this video! I was thinking of going to a staggered setup with p255/35r20s in the front, and p295/30r20s in the rear. I am super-impressed to see the handling improvements through the corners through this video, as the handling capabilities paired with the 376 cu. in. V8 is the biggest selling point for me. Thanks for the great video. I will be watching this obsessively until I can finally make my driveway a home for a new Camaro, before they stop making the V8s......

      Thanks for the comment brother I also love the 1LE but it was just out of the price range so an LT1 with some sticky tires is definitely a solid cost effective compromise. You throw some 295 Indy 500’s in the rear, youd basically be even with the 1LE for acceleration and the 255’s up front will definitely get the handling close to the 1le too. I’d say it’s a great compromise if you can find some cheap rims because i don’t think you can fit 295’s on the stock rims.

      @@WTFCRLT1 Thanks for the reply man! My plan upon getting my Camaro is to replace the stock wheel/tire setup with some American Racing - Hellion, gloss black wheels, and the new tire setup with the Firehawks. I don't want my Red Hot Camaro to look like any other, and I figured the easiest way is to customize my wheel/tire setup. The Firestones looked like a great deal on paper vs. some other brands in that size, and the video you produced with the 255s were an absolutely crazy cool validation of my thought process. Thanks again.

    You must also lower tire pressure for street tires to hook. Experiment between from 32 down to 27-28 psi. And also street tires were not made for huge levels of heat so no big smokey burn out, you'll make tires much more slippery from over heat. Just get them warmed with a light whisp of smoke, just enough heat.

    Try using launch mode. Have it in competitive mode hold the brake and floor it. It’ll enter launch control. So it’ll still use some traction control.

      @@WTFCRLT1 it should stop it from spinning if done properly. It gives it enough spin to keep it from bogging down but doesn’t let it get crazy. Make sure you hold the brake and gas long enough to activate it. Has to the floor. It should hold the RPM around 2,000 on an auto.

    This is my go-to tire for my summer set on most cars I have owned. I have 255/35R18's on my 2019 Civic Si. It weighs almost a thousand lbs less than a V8 Camaro, and makes half the HP and Tq, and I can still break them loose in 2nd in all but ideal road and weather conditions. 255s have no business being on a car like this.

    Thanks for all of the LT1 content. I'm enjoying it. Are the Firestone 500 tires summer or all seasons? I'm in the northeast, DE, and was looking for a stickier all season that wouldn't break the bank. I've got an 18' A10 mustang Ecoboost.
    Stock, it ran 5.0 to 60 and 13.23 in the 1/4 mile, at my local dragstrip. Tire spin has been an issue. It's not hard to control, but it's slowing me down.
    I really like the LT1, A10 drivetrain, but I'm not sure I could put up with the outward visibility, reduced cabin storage, and tiny trunk of the Camaro, compared to the mustang. I really prefer the low end torque of the LT1 over the 5.0 mustang though.

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  3 роки тому +1

      These are summer tires but if you’re looking for some nice all seasons, I’d recommend the continental extreme contact all seasons. Those are on my parents stelvio and the grip is seriously impressive. The Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric all seasons are also really good but I prefer the continentals. Those are the two best all seasons I’ve personally used. If you’re really looking to eliminate wheelspin, you’re probably gonna have to go with summer tires and keep whatever setup you have now for the winter. Thanks for the comment!

    • @davescott9409
      @davescott9409 3 роки тому +1

      @@WTFCRLT1 Yeah, I had the Continentals on my 2006 Mustang GT. They were way better than the stock pirellis. The Ecoboost makes more torque and at a lower rpm than the 06' GT. The Goodyears are doing OK, with 60 ft.s in the mid 1.90s and very repeatable, but of course I'd like to do better. My guess is the Continentals would be better launching dry and in WX.

    All I'm going to say, is get rid of the 255's and go 305. (Do your research, watch for wheel rub on the driver side rear wheel well)
    Stop wasting money on those razor blades.
    Then you can experience what TC off really means compared to the nannies.

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks man I’m not sure how anyone could get a better time with traction control off haha I’ll have to try again to see if I can get the launch control to work but every time I try the car just does a burnout.. some sticky 275’s or wider, you’ll probably start seeing times at 4.0 if not faster.

    • @dychejs
      @dychejs 3 роки тому +2

      @@WTFCRLT1 Honestly I don’t know either! But everyone who reviews performance cars almost always turn off traction control to test 0-60. They “modulate” pressure on the gas peddle to compensate. Whatever. Launch control also can help. You are right of course that if you can put the power down with some Summer 275s (or 305s!) you may solve the prob

    Changing the size of the tries as you did, does that have any effect on the speedo reading? My LT1 is coming in about 4 weeks. Like you, I plan on taking off the stock tires immediately and replacing them with Firehawks. I was thinking of going with a 255 40 20 tire but nor sure it would fit. What made you go from 40 to 35?

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  2 роки тому

      I haven’t noticed any changes with the speedo. I also don’t think Firestone sells 255/40/20 indy 500’s. The 35 is just an aspect ratio so since the tires are 10mm wider, the thickness of the tires aren’t drastically different. They’re great tires I’ve put about 17k miles on them so far and I’m loving them👍🏼
