Harry Sorry to hear that you have been under the weather recently. I hope you are feeling better and beginning to see a brighter future. I’m sure we can wait dutifully until you feel able to post again. I’m still waiting for a Bee Gees reunion tour! Best wishes.
Hi Harry very nice looking ship ,looking forward to mods , like to thank you, just laid my first wood veneer, after watching your video on the subject and picking your brain, the process was easier than I thought and a month later all good, no warping, lifting, just bloody looks good 😊😊😊😊😊😊
will look forward to this build harry, great review, love all the pre-dreadnought ships, much more character & style like the royal navy and US navy great white fleet ships from that era, loved the Vayrag build so this one should come up a real treat, love the sail ship stuff too, keep em coming, cheers
Harry, O Harry, just to cheer you up, after talking about all the haters and rivet counters you have to put up with. I'm just a pomy fan of yours waiting for the completion of your series on the conversion of the 1/350 Deutschland battleship. We corresponded years ago, and you kindly sent me a few images of the ship to use in our 'Buddy Build' of the converted ship. So, now using the title of the song by Diana Ross, I'm still waiting. Maybe you could resererect the project. And yes, please, play your Banjo whenever you want to Harry. Regards Dave Pom Porter London.
Different ship. This is the Pre-Dreadnaught Battleship, from 1905 you may be thinking of the later Battlecruiser ‘Pocket Battleship’ Deutschland from WWII
I think you are right as the picture I've seen in some news cuttings it had a single funnel. Looking on Google she was Renaned Lutzow. I wouldn't mind finding a kit of her.
The Trumpeter Graf Spee I made was her sister ship. Would not take much to make any minor changes so she resembles the Deutschland. Academy also make the kit, but it is not as detailed as Trumpeters
The Titanic has the same screw arangement. On the T. the centre screw was on a turbine driven from the exhaust of the two outer reciprocating engines. I think that is why it hit the iceberg. When the outer engines were reversed the turbine screw that pushed water over the rudder stopped.
You get these big 1/350 kits like Akagi,Fuso,Yamishiro you definitely need the hull supports inside. The hulls wiggle around alot while your trying to handle them for the build.
Hi Harry I do hope you have covered from your illness and can start your new projects. So I'm interested to know when can we expect the German battleship conversion to start, it's such an interesting project.
Thanks Dave, yes I am much better now and catching up with a few builds on my bench which need to be completed first. Once they are out of the way I hope to start on the battleships later this month.
The have the Japanese Battleship Mikasa in the game World of Warships. She is somewhat like this ship. I have wanted to 3D model this ship and could net get my hands on good line drawings or Blue Prints. I didn't know there was a decent model of her until now. TY for the video.
Hi Harry, be very interested to see how best to manufacturer the 4 additional hand gun placements you mentioned fitted on the Bow, parts L-17 to 20 Illustrated in the early unit instructions, can't fine any quality images to work from. Kind regards
I have the blue prints of the original ship and, although it took me a while, I found some photos. This moulding has the protrusion on the aft sides still. So maybe I can cast that and then reproduce them for the bow sides.
I thought this was a strange choice of Trumpeters, There's so many British and German (let alone anyone else) WW1 Battleships and Battle cruisers that would be more interesting, but they had to model this, the Lord Nelson class and the Danton was it French pre-dreadnoughts. A WW1 version is certainly more interesting option. I look forward to seeing you achieve that !
Nice in depth breakdown buddy!! You may have talked about this 8n the past, but you ever consider doing the Arizona again seeing you had to give up on her?
One of the main reasons the Arizona videos were so slow to come out, then I lost interest so was happy to sell the kit, was the constant rivet counting and abuse I received from the United States. Sure, the real ship is iconic and a living memorial, but they were so over zealous and hostile towards me for daring to build their ship, it put me off ever doing any American subjects again.
@@HarryHoudiniModels Oh that sucks! On behalf if all Americans i apologize! There is absolutely no excuse for bullying some for any reason, especially when they are honoring heros!! My aditude twards people like that is, fuck em! You don't yell me how, what and where i do my hobby! If ya don't like it don't watch or i will report you and block your ass! Just because you don't live here doesn't make them experts on all things American! I say build it in spite of them! You are one hell of a builder and a great person so to hell with the ass hats and build every American ship out there! If I see someone bitching, I got your back!! I'm serious don't let them scare you off it's you hobby not theirs! Take care my friend!
@@HarryHoudiniModels Wow Harry, thanks but a slow response LOL, thanks I'm following you on this build after digging out the kit from the very deep dusty stash, always thought this later kit was just too ugly to build maybe not. Kind regards
Harry, Harry, Harry months ago you introduced a newly acquired kit, the SMS Schleswig-Holstein a truly ugly ship kit that I also have in my stash. However, you sparked my interest by suggesting that it could be converted into the much nicer looking 1908 version, so I have been patiently waiting for you to start the build. Now today, you talk about kits that just get started, but never finished, what about kits we talk about starting with great enthusiasm but don't. Kind regards, a very long term 'Pom' subscriber, Dave Porter, London
Good point. I was very unwell for the first few months this year so only did reviews. Did you notice? Then I found out I had occipital myalgia and had to change the way I worked considerably as well as my daily routine. Coming out of this phase, and learning to manage my debilitating pain, being only able to work or model for a few hours before needing pain killers and a lie down, I chose a kit that I could slowly work on. The Saint Louis. Although the Deutschland conversion is high on my want to do list, for now I am working through the St Louis as I learn to cope with the hand dealt to me. So, the Swine Lick Hold Stern is not forgotten, just next inline after the Louis. You may have also noticed just doing one build is a change of programming on my channel. Normally I rotate through a few different subjects, only getting a little done on each at a time. However now with my constant neck pain it is far easier just to keep to one build, so my few hours a day modelling are maximised. Well that’s the long and the short of it.
Harry, when are you going to post the next episode, like to see how you start modifying the ship into the earlier version buddy. Regards a Pom Dave Porter
It will begin as soon as I get the Schnellboot off my workbench. Unfortunately I have been very ill the last few weeks, so no progress on any modelling until I am well again.
hi harry. looks like a nice kit. i think there is somthing wrong with patreon i cannot read any one of your posts. it just tells me to join up. is it just me ?. cheers tom
How difficult could it be..... You have said that before with the Arizona..., Or you can see if you can find the 1908 slim piece so you don't end up slicing any fingers off......👍👍

Thanks mate.. I am literally “ha ha ha staying alive”!
By the Armistice agreement this was one of the ships Germany was allowed to keep in her Navy after World War 1.
And it was the ship which fired the first shot in World War II
Great stuff Harry, I’m looking forward to see the magic you work on this, hope you’re keeping well.
Will be getting to this one as soon as the Schnellboot is launched
loving this , the conversion will be interesting to watch
Thanks Justin
As a german I have to strongly object to your claim that we have no humour. Here in Germany, humour is taken very seriously!
Ja ja ja
Lol!
Looks like a fun mod happening here. Cheers Harry. Stay well mate. 😊
Thanks for the visit
Great review Harry. Looks like a good kit.
It is!
Great walk through the kit 👍🏻

The Deutschland is scheduled for around mid year Dave, and I will work on her until completion.
thanks for the review mate.
My pleasure
I think three funnels look better on the ship than two. But on the other hand I prefer the hull without the bulges near the bow.
aye they be but we buldges....
Be interesting following this as my grandfather had a huge role to play when the Deutschland had to take refuge at Gibraltar

It would be more interesting if you built the kit as she looked at the end of the war!?!.
Which war?
