Oh the PE is actually much less than on many of my other ships. Small sheets and all relatively easy.. at least I won’t be cutting big holes in this one just to add the PE. It’s made to fit as is.
I can't believe that I watched this video of almost 35 minutes although I'll probably never build a ship! It was interesting and I really love the details HobbyBoss was able to do. I'm glad that I don't have to glue on these rails! Argh! PE!!! Hope you'll enjoy the build. :)
Looks very good! I hope there will be more german WW I Ships released in 1:350 Scale. I guess this Seydlitz and the ICM König (and it´s sisters) are the only ones available. Greetings from Germany, Cheers, Mike
Revell make the Emden/Dresden, Combrig make the Bayern, Blucher and SMS Scharnhorst (WWI) plus Aoshima also make all the König (ICM Rebox with extra PE).
Excellent video and inbox review you inspired me into buying this beautiful vessel. I am now ordering it it will be in my stash pile for a near future build, Merry Christmas Frankie Day
I would point out one puzzling omission from the Kit - no Display Stand included ( no usual ' Dry Dock Stand ' ) -I also recommend you source the 1970's Profile Warship ( Number 14 ) booklet on the ' Seydlitz ' - a great read and the correct way to pronounce the name is SIII-D-LITZ I believe ( but a great review ) regards David
out of the box? GARLIC and Crosses NOW!......Looks good, shame about gun barrels, its a bit tiresome the lack of oomph they put into moulding them. But too big for me,but glad to follow the build for any experience i can pilfer.soon.d

I'm fascinated by this ship and delighted to see it be released in this scale. Would it be suitable for RC conversion? I plan on doing this in a few years for the 1/350 Bismarck or KGV for which there are conversion kits, but see this one has a split hull.
I really like the Seydlitz, but i think its a shame that only the front Torpedotube is visible the rest of the tubes are just missing :/ But thanks for your superb Review:)
Big Mo came with one as well (Tamiya) I don't remember if my Bismarck has one or not (Tamiya as well). In this day and age, it is a sacrilege that mfrs don't supply them IMHO.
Yes Brandon.. when I build the kit. However that has been delayed for a few years due to other projects. I have many other ships needing completion first. Please check my channel for other ship videos and play lists.
Seeing the mouldings are 30 years apart and rather than a copy/scale up of a dodgey old Revell kit, with mistakes, this is a brand new CAD design and new technology moulding. The more recent Hobby Boss ships kits are chalk and cheese compared to those old poorly moulded ones from over a decade ago. Doesn’t this show in my video?
Harry Houdini Models mate I feel like a cheap skate time traveler going through your vids, one minute I’m in 2018 and the next I’m in 2020, so I’m all over the shop 😂😂😂
Harry Houdini Models Yeah I see that one and it does look impressive, im building the 1/200 Bismarck at the moment and may have to raid the piggy bank for 1/200 Arizona
You could also say Schlachtkreuzer (battlecruiser) but the Großer Kreuzer was more commonly used. Also Großer Kreuzer means "large Cruiser". 'Grand' doesn't really fit.
Dammit....7 seconds before liking the video....then again, I was pouring me some rum, navy stuff demands rum, right? Did you have a cigarette after open the inside, eh? 😉😄😂
Harry are you really going to go without the wooden deck, trying to replicate the colour on plastic looks challanging to say the least. Regards Dave London
I sourced a wood veneer deck from a new manufacturer out of Hong Kong (Neverset Model)... very nice and probably the best veneer I have seen so far. Will review it when I start the build later this year.
Wow what a project !... All that brass ... got my head spinning. Good luck with it.
Oh the PE is actually much less than on many of my other ships. Small sheets and all relatively easy.. at least I won’t be cutting big holes in this one just to add the PE. It’s made to fit as is.
Looks like a great kit. I can't wait to see the finished product!!! Thanks from the USA
Thanks Guy... coming up late Jan / early Feb

Oh rails look scary but you just do it in sections. I will be doing a comprehensive railing video for the Varyag to show my easy method.
Very good! Happy New Year! :)
Harry got looking ship and a really well detailed. And it seems you have all you need in the box. It’s ship shape perfection lol.
Ship shape and bristol fashion! Will just need to add some detail to the lower hull.
Wow, that is a great looking kit mate. Awesome!
Thanks James... yes I thought so too and had to get a review out to share, even though I’m only halfway through the Varyag
Gutes Schiff, der kaiserliche deutsche Schlachtkreuzer SMS Seydlitz, und aüßerst Standhaft mit extrem guter und Tapfere Besatzung.
Well they must have been after all the shells that landed on this ship. Amazing how it survived so much damage.

Good to hear. I have started mine and will put out a build video in the new year.
Great review yet again Harry.Keep up the great work.Have a great new year, best wishes,Phil from Wales.
Thanks Phil

How strange... maybe I missed the stands? Anyway I will put it on brass finals with a wood base. Good pick up and thanks for the phonetics.
that is a cool unboxing Harry ;-) had again allot off fun cool boot indeed you make me wanting to build one also now lmao
Plenty of new smaller kits you might like...
Prop-Shafts Harry, oh....you know!. Great review mate, I have to have one! :-)
It’s a lovely kit... my next ship build after the Varyag
Спасибо за отличный обзор, жду продолжения👌👍👍👍
Thanks matey
Its a whopper of a kit. Hope HB will do more WW1 ships.
I think their sister company Trumpeter have
@@HarryHoudiniModels Iron Duke would be fantastic. Or the early BCs.
Oh cool, now 33% more waffle, good one Harry👍👍
I never hold back on the waffle

Naw never out of the box
Cocoa Brown looks just like Tamiya hull red...Till you stare at it.Then you can see the brown.Ive seen it on Yamato it looks good.
Don’t go crosseyed

I think you got an answer
I really like the Seydlitz, but i think its a shame that only the front Torpedotube is visible the rest of the tubes are just missing :/ But thanks for your superb Review:)
Oh well. Trumpeter usually get at least one little thing wrong with each kit. You’ll just have to scratch build them.
I would love to build a ship, I have a few, but there's no way I'm trying to glue PE railings that won'' t last a few days.
There is a way to make rails easily stay on, and I will explore that in my next videos on the Varyag
I don't really believe that...............
Yee of little faith LOL... watch and learn...
Harry, thanks for my first OOB review of 2018! Happy new Year Sport (do Aussie’s still say that?) Dave.
Well you can say it, but then probably will be beaten up... your call.
Nae worries I‘m Scottish, I can handle it? - Alter ego speaking there! LOL, here‘s to more Houdini vlogs.
There is a lot more waffle planned :)
Stern Tubes Harry :) Should be a good build Harry... I always like mfrs who supply a colour template with their kits.
Oh thanks Richard.. Yes I like the seperate colour sheet you get with Trumpeter/Hobby Boss.
Big Mo came with one as well (Tamiya) I don't remember if my Bismarck has one or not (Tamiya as well). In this day and age, it is a sacrilege that mfrs don't supply them IMHO.
Absolutely... I have seen them on Aoshima and Bronco ship kits but sadly my Tamiya Prince of Wales is just B&W
is there a Part II coming on this?
Yes Brandon.. when I build the kit. However that has been delayed for a few years due to other projects. I have many other ships needing completion first. Please check my channel for other ship videos and play lists.
Part 2 out now after I finally got around to building the kit
And I as a german, waiting since years for a british WW1- battlecruiser in 1:350.....
Yes. I am waiting for the same, so I can make the HMAS Australia.
@@HarryHoudiniModels : The battlecruiser of 1911 ? Who's the manufacturer ?
Combrig do 1:350 Resin kits of the Indefatigable, New Zealand and Australia.

@@HarryHoudiniModels : Thank you, but Kombrig Kits are much too expensive for me.
Hey harry, would you say this was a better quality kit than the hobby boss USS Arizona?

Just a Caveat, the new Trumpeter 1:200 Arizona is a better kit than both by far.

Yep literal translation
One thing i find really annoy about chinese maker, ... that is "Why the heck they have to make the box so freaking big"
Well ships are BIG
