- This is a short tutorial about truck and tractor pulling. Truck and tractor pulling is surprisingly complex. To help you better understand the sport and enjoy an event you may attend. I made this little video to simplify it a little.
For a better understanding of pulling check out www.ntpapull.com Look in the Fan Zone for Pulling 101!
We start by going over the parts and operation of a pulling sled. We follow up with an actual truck pull where we can see all the sled in action!
Thanks for watching and let me know if you'd like to see more videos like this. - Спорт
You got a gr8 sense of humor :D Thanks for the lesson. From a first time viewer from sweden
WOW! Thank you so much for making the channel international!!!
Hello SBS. First time viewer. I am now 46, and was reminiscing on 80s monster trucks and tractor pulls, watching them on TV, reading magazines and I drew alot of tractors and trucks. Anyway, hopped on UA-cam, did a search and your's was atvthe top of the list. Throughly enjoyed your video.
I never understood the sled, but I finally now have a slightly better understanding. I still have that child-like excitment and nostalgic interest about tractor pulls, and I enjoy learning and you, my good sir hit every nail on the head. Thank you so much for the upload.
Love your commentary, and how you deliver your dialogue, it just feels natural.
That's awesome! Thank you so much for checking it out! We're pretty close to the same age. I too remember watching all of that stuff on TV. I've been blessed to get to work in this industry with the guys and gals we used to watch on TV. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!👍
Always wondered how to sled work thanks for explaining
It was my pleasure! Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for your help
Always welcome
EXACTLY the video I was looking for. Now I just need to find an event in Northern California. I want to see a “full pull” live in person
Thanks buddy! Check out MLM Motorsports. They do some events up your way www.mlm-motorsports.com/ thanks for watching and commenting!
I live in northern ca as well, I’d love to enter my old Ford and see what’s she’s got!!
He did forget to mention the drop pan, when the Box hits the front of a sled when it is in forward motion the pan drops digging into the ground and making it harder for the vehicle to pull the sled in which case makes you feel like you're going to fly to the windshield in the cab if you don't have your seatbelt on.
Thanks this is exactly what i was looking for
I'm so glad it was useful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks! For the algorithm. 👍
You bet!
I appreciate the VERY basic walk through, perfect for my baked ass lol.
Right there with ya.

I have yet to find a vid on these things explaining what the front tires on the sled are for. It is as though the viewers are already familiar with that one item only. So what are the tires for.
I am so glad you asked. I should have added that. They drop down with hydraulics at the end of the run so the sled can be steered. There is actually a diesel motor in it. Most sleds are self propelled and can be driven like a car. When the sled is being pulled by a competitor the front tires fold up out of the way so as to not interfere with the pull. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Do them wheels work the same way as they do on the bus? You skipped over it but I' reckon they go round and round right?
You know it brother! Round and Round🎼🎹🎤
Hi, new sub here. Question, I may have missed. What regulates the speed of the weight? Is it timed or based one where the sled is on track. If by speed, the goal is to get to end before weight gets to far up correct? Thanks in advance if you answer. Great vid.
Thank you for watching, the sub and the question. The weight speed is controlled by the driver. It's a chain drive regulated by a transmission. So yes, it is based on where it is on the track. The sled operator controls or "sets" The speed of the box based on the power of the vehicles in each class. The more horsepower the faster the box moves. There really is no way to get to the end of the track before the box reaches the top because it will reach the end at the same location on the track for all of the vehicles in the class. The only advantage to gaining speed early on the track is to take advantage of the momentum and gain a few inches of distance over your competition. I hope that made sense. Thank you for watching!
@@SagebrushSoulAE Thank you vary much. Yes, makes PERFECT sense now. Thank you for answering.
Rc Pulling Track And Truck 🚒🚛🚒
I’d like a video on how truck pulls. (For street diesel class) I’d like to see my 5.0 Cummins can do. Just wonder if you use 4h or 4l and what gear do you try pulling in?
There are some great forums that'd probably b able to help you better than me. The gear you choose depends on a lot of things; The track condition, the sled you're pulling. My best suggestion would be to go to a pull and talk to some people pulling in that class or even better, enter a pull and start learning most pullers will tell you it's all trial and error. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@SagebrushSoulAE Thank you for a quick reply, that’s how it was going to the quarter mile drag strip too. No real good info or videos on EXACTLY what to do or to expect. Great video btw. I learned a lot.
any chance you can update with standard metric units instead of ass backwards Neanderthal counting methods?
Why does the box moving forward will slow down the truck?
When the weight is over the tires it rolls easier. When it moves to the front the sled starts to dig into the ground.
So does the sled move back to the starting line by itself or is it towed back?
Most sleds are "Self Propelled" with a diesel engine so yes. However, some older sleds are pulled back by another vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@SagebrushSoulAE Great info❤️!Thanks for replying!
And of course, if a tractor goes outside either of the left or right chalked sideline boundaries (in white), the pull is considered disqualifiable and the pull will not count.
Thank you so much for pointing that out! How the heck did I forget to add that!?!?!
Do the sleds have any agricultural use? Or just for pulling comp?
They are just for competition, however, Many of the Sled builders make agricultural equipment too. Thanks for the comment!
Could you please tell me what type of transmission pro street 4x4 truck pullers use
It depends on what club or association you're running with. In my part of the country, both gas and Diesel pro street classes are basically beefed up stock Transmissions and transfer cases. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@SagebrushSoulAE thanks, auto or manual is what I was thinking. Must be automatic
damn i came here to learn what tires are
Ha ha! I knew I should have added that!. Thanks you so much for watching and commenting!
How dose the sled get back?
This one has an engine, most do now days. Some of the older ones will get drug back by a tractor or other equipment. Thanks for watching and commenting!
lomfl xd
and I thought baseball was fuckin borin
Right! For me it's about the people more than the sport. Thanks for commenting.
Its definitely not a spectator sport! If youre competing though, its awesome!
