Good for Joe B. He doesn’t need social media . He is a real musician and gained his fan base by going on the road and proving himself nightly. Great musician!
Very true. However, social media for him, at this stage, was likely more for marketing purposes than to actually interact with anyone. It's mostly posts about shows, dates, merch, pretty non-personal topics. Have you seen his merch store? He is obviously in full-blown grow the business mode. But, you're right, he doesn't social media. His marketers will keep using his handles to promote sales and that's really all it needs to be.
He is a "real musician" is kind of a Facebook comment. Aren't dumb folk like me allowed to enjoy life? The smart get the privelages, the dumb don't yet we all just put the dumb down? There are both sides to this social media dilemma.
First people who I knew who introduced me and absolutely love Joe B. are my in laws. In their late 60s now, have never touched social media. Fucking love him, have his records, catch his shows when he's in town. And turned me on to him. Really doesn't need social at this point in his career.
I've lived in the Philippines over 10 years and Joe Bonamassa is the only major rock/blues artist to appear here. Gotta thank him for making the effort to perform.
Yeah, it kinda gave that nation a really bad rep I mean Who just goes and assaults The Fab Four like that? Even if things have changed since then, the stain of it remains
Never has there been a cancer for humankind like social media. My old man insists the world would be a better place if we "turned off the internet". Sometimes I really think he might be on to something...
I agree with your old man. There is some common misconception about technology and progress. Not all technology equates to "progress" and not all progress is without it"s downside. Take carbon emitting technology for example. There is such a thing as unintended ill effect.
I'm 55, and in 2012 I was doing IT work in a publishing office. This was around the time that Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook came into fruition. I said to a co-worker: "Nothing good is going to come of people hearing everyones opinion all the time" And here I sit. edited for spelling
I am so sad about this. I didn't discover Joe until I was 90 and am 91 now and start every morning with his music on you tube . What I will miss is what he does from now on. I will continue to watch what is already on the tube.because I absolutely love his work!!! Starts my day!
It's respectable that Joe has the self awareness to see an issue in his life and take steps to resolve it before it turns into a public problem. Good for him!
@@StallionStudios1234 I don't think that's it, I'm not getting that vibe at all. Besides, navigating "wokeness" is pretty easy, just don't be a douche. Really not that hard.
@@Eric_01 I'm not on social media at all, proud to say (save for YouBoob). They're not the kind of people I wish to follow. You hold the likes of harvey weinstein & co. in higher regard than I do. Good for you.
It's just sad. He has wealth a of knowledge about vintage gear and guitars He shares it with all of us. He has his blues cruises that supports a whole bunch of blues artists with the public who may never heard of these other talented artists. He produces records of lesser known blues artists. That's a big loss to the artists ,the to blues community and fans of the blues. He's built a very successful career in a music that is rare, especially for a rock blues guitarist with virtually no airplay. It's a monumental feat. Hopefully he takes mental break and returns.
I agree, but I believe that Joe will return, he is a superb blues rock n roll guitarist and a lover of magical old guitars, of which his favorite is the Fender Telecaster, and before swags, he is a very good man, Rick and Rhett are also first of all, very very good people, we witness that every day! As I said, I am convinced that Joe will return!!! Until then, I respect his decision!
Anytime you publicly stick your head up above the crowd, there's going to be some people happy to throw rotten tomatoes at the target. Please keep doing what you're doing because there's a TON more of us who are grateful for every minute of it. I do think it is important that you guys respond and engage with your subscribers and followers to the extent it is possible.
People would not say most of the offensive stuff not standing before you. The problem is they feel safe and anonymous. It's more the 'talk behind the back' stuff in real life. With social media, you can level with everyone and get away with it. And the smaller the ego, the higher the probability, I guess. Of course, some super egos need to lash out, too.
One definition of a critic is "the one that comes out after the battle and shoots the wounded." You guys do a great job keeping things upbeat on your channels. There are tons of appreciative YT viewers who quietly admire those among us brave enough to get on camera and share what they know and have passion for.
That's a good one. For those who want to dig very deep into this fascinating subject read Alexander Pope's "Essay On Criticism", an excellent paper on the subject.
I've never been a fan of his music, he's great, just not my cup of tea, but damn, you have to love the mans enthusiasm for the instrument. He's truly a great ambassador for the guitar.
@redrocker1055 - Yep, Joe's music doesn't really do it for me either, but I'm not much of a blues fan, so it's more the genre that doesn't turn me on, and not him specifically. Nevertheless, I respect his musicianship, and his dedication to the instrument. Also, he reveres John Jorgenson, which increases my esteem for him immensely. 😎
As a fan of blues/rock guitar music, I personally would hate if Joe never came back to social media. I truly enjoy Joe's playing, I remember seeing a story about him many years ago on tv when he was really young and thought, "this kid's got it" and have been keeping an eye/ear on him ever since. At the end of the day though, it's Joe's journey and his personal choice. There have always been and will always be negative people in our lives, we just need to remember that as much as it might hurt us internally, it's more about the negativity in the other person's life and they're just displacing their own insecurities and fears onto others. Stay positive and jam on.🎸
I remember him as a kid playing, as I was a younger kid when he was first getting noticed. Once I really learned to play, and was able to play many of the styles of music I loved, Bonamassa became less impressive. I still respected his ability, and that he earned respect from others whose playing I did really love. He only helps keep guitar driven music out there, regardless of what I think of Joe, snd things like how he was such a big part of why the used guitar market changed after the 90’s.
Dude! Of course Joe Bonamassa is great, but he is Goofy as fuck! He doesn't want to hear about it, so he should definitely quit social media. It's not a big deal. I will continue to be a fan
@@seanmurphy26But my question is what is wrong with people that feel that they have to throw something in someone’s face. People who derive pleasure by inflicting pain upon others are sick. They probably live a pretty miserable life if being terrible to others makes them feel better.
@@seanmurphy26 Is being different goofy? He's fine, and I really don't see him as goofy. I see him as a truly excellent artist. It's never a good idea to measure one's worth based on others' opinions.
@@audiophileman7047 it is solely my opinion that Joe Bonamassa is a very goofy guy. Maybe other people share that same opinion. Joe Bonamassa has always been a little bit hacky and goofy. This is not take away that he's a great guitar player and an inspiration for all of us.
My two favorite dudes on the interwebs. You guys bring positivity and a level headedness to all things music. Social media provides a platform to the ignorant, the uninformed and the opinionated. See I just provided an opinion that nobody asked for.
Hmm. I like them both, but never thought it was about POSITIVITY. (Doesn't Rick DENOUNCE stuff as often as he praises stuff?) For me it's about INSIGHT, cuz most humans are copycats and GroupThinkers, so INSIGHT is rare in this world! And I don't believe in that "opinion no one asked for". IF YOU DO YOUR WORK PUBLICLY.......you are INVITING others to critique it, period. "YES-men" are the worst!
You know why I love you both? It's because you guys are clean and not smutty. It shows me how intelligent fellows that I take your teaching like the gospel.
The only things that bring me to social media are the great musicians like Rick and Rhett, they teach so much and speak such sense. Keep up the good work guys. Joe Bonamassa will be missed.
Joe was one of the first to embrace YT, Spotify, people filming him and sharing gig videos and anti social media. If he thinks it’s time to leave or at least have a break from it, then good luck to him - although I hope he stays on YT. I met him a few years ago and he was so nice to chat to. He’s one of the good guys. Cheers!
one of the worst parts of social media is that gives people unreal courage to say whatever hurtful thought comes to their mind and they enjoy doing it because they have so many insecurities to hide and by attacking a successful person they feel powerful.
That is not exactly accurate. People have been able to do this previously. For ages, creators have been complaining about critics and their opinions. It is just that now you get to hear everyone's opinions, if you choose to be fully engaged. Joe should know that selection and editing is the individual's super power when it comes to media.
It was a blessing to have had Joe online with us all for as long as we did. He has a massive tangible reality where he can insulate himself from the toxicity of the negativity that is running rampant on today's social media platforms. Life is too short to engage the madness. Deprive it of your energy and leave its fate to the wind. Stay positive and continue forward one and all.
Rhett as a member of your Inner Circle, I have followed you from the beginning and live life enjoying your content, from blogs, product reviews to studio builds. Please keep in touch with the ones that do appreciate your hard work!!
My favorite version of JB was when I used to see him for $10 in bars. I have followed his success and catch him every year. But those early years were more melodic, bare, and soulful. I don’t mean that as a knock, he has done so much for so many. A pull back and reassessment is good for the soul. I look forward to Joe 3.0, 4.0, and beyond.
I love Joe. I hate to see him leave but I understand. I have commented on his social media before and he has responded to me. His responses were so genuine and sincere.
Rhett and Rick, both of you are perfect. Your weight is just right, your fashion choices are impeccable, your lighting is flattering and your hair styles are……intriguing. “Don’t go changing, to try to please me. I love you just the way you are.”
Thank you two for talking about this topic. Andy Wood told some of us about this and we discussed it. One thing I do know is some of the greatest guitarist of our time have been criticized with dumb and simply hateful comments. I've met Joe at one of Andy's guitar camps. Sweet guy, so down to earth with no ego I could see. I think people want to judge others by how successful they are. Joe is a great guitarist, a great entertainer, bring a great show with the full band, the backing vocals. He puts on a top notch show because he cares about his product and the people who consume it. This happens on the amateur level as well. The popular players and bands are not necessarily the best players or bands. But instead of criticizing or being jealous I try to learn what they are doing right to be so popular. In my local area I have observed it's about material (song choice) and keeping the energy up. Joe is such a huge success and an easy target because he is out there a lot. And at the amateur level I always believe I can learn from any guitarist I happen to see.
I didn't know Rick was sarcastic, he comes across as a very genuine, warm, honest straight shooter! Love both your channels and clearly both of you have a lot of respect for each other. Thanks for introducing me to so much in the music world!
Rick nailed it with his comment about people projecting their own lack of self esteem and insecurities. People who are comfortable in their own skin are seldom social media a-holes.
So. But. How about those countless pop fans skulking around on social media "defending" their precious idols from all and any "negative" comments, real or imagined? "I had absolutely no choice than to publicly endorse the early and painful demise of the posters who dared to use the Dislike button under my pop idols video. They ruined my and my idols life"
Well, Rick and Rhett. Having followed Rick for 5 years and you Rhett for a couple years. I can say with certainty, you both are class acts. You both bring a plethora of awesome content to the masses. I'm not alone in saying this. There's millions of people out there who appreciate what you do! Thanks guys!
I’ve played for over 50 years now, so many comments people just seem clueless about the work and time it takes to become a pro player! I almost always find something of use from watching guys like yourselves about music, gear, and so much more. Shame that anyone is disrespectful, if they disagree or something just move on, no need to write something trying to show how smart they think the are??? Where else can I watch and hear someone like Larry Carlton, Tim Pierce, You guys and so many others? Thanks for what You do guys and all the others that share valuable information and a piece of themselves! Best Always, Lance
I truly appreciate Joe Bonamassa, he helped one of my long time family friends (Larry McCray) get back into the limelight after many years of struggling as a musician.
There was a time without youtube and social media, and we only knew the musicians for their music, and that made It even more interesting and mysterious. Thats almost gone now.
"If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything". People should be thankful for those who take there time, to share there experiences. Thank you, Rick & Rhett.
Like many of the people here, I've enjoyed watching Joe on Instagram, but there's no question in my mind that he's going to be happier letting his team manage things without personally engaging. People with miserable lives get online to escape. Joe has an amazing life and he should enjoy it. I can't imagine that engaging on social media adds anything.
Anthony, You have discussed depression and helped a lot of people. Joe is like anyone else. When people attack you, it is near impossible not to take it personally. The fact is, unwarranted opinions hurt at times and it is ok to walk a way from things that bring you down.
Joe is amazing person, as he has never left his humble beginnings, he has always wanted to share his passion of the music industry. Have enjoy all his collection of amps and guitars, and know that I would never be able to own this stuff, but have a couple of guitars, and owned a dozen amps in my life time. Joe's willingness to share his good fortune and music insight and tips to get a sound or be a better player. He took time out of his tour when he was in Portland, Or to meet with Doug and Pat and share there love for Holy Gail of 59 or 60 Gibson Les Paul, Joe is not a self absorbed person, just constantly searching for perfection in his playing and performing, so much talent. Beth Heart and him are just amazing.
Wow I am moved by your story's. I find it sad that great people who are willing to share what they know have to go through all of that. I play reggae guitar and it was extremely difficult to find help online. So it took me years to edudacte my self in this style. I had to listen and watch countless live concerts and hope to see a glimps of what the guitar players use and how they play. I see my self now as pretty knowledgeable on this subject. And the idea of sharing this on youtube has crossed my mind countless times. I am sure I can be very helpful to many people that want to start. But I never do it because of the reason that I know I am far from the best guitar player and probably would get to much hate comments from all the people thinking they know it better. People like you Reth and Rick has helped me a lot. I thank you and hope you will not make the same decision as our hero Joe Bonamassa
I don't know Joe personally and his style of blues isn't exactly my cup of tea, but from what I've seen he's a great dude and obviously a monster player whom I respect. This is an unfortunate effect of social media that comes with the times. We're not going to stop having malicious people and their intents. I hope he decides to come back so we can steal more of his impossible licks!
Totally bummed out to hear this. Overall, I don't like social media much, but not seeing Joe's videos or his playing/tone tips is a real loss to me. One of the greatest players to ever live!
@@StreetPreacherr No. The comment was about hair loss, not about a hairstyle. Point being . . . he doesn't need Instagram to do his business, and he doesn't need people who think he's a "baby" to fill the seats at his concerts. :)
Very interesting and important discussion. JB will be sorely missed I agree his contributions to the guitar community are valuable resources. On a personal note - So glad he interviewed Eric Johnson one of my heroes. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼
Joe is such a sweetheart. Hardly material for a sewer called social media. You go Joe, rock'em holly grails of guitar sound for all of us who can't get our hands on them.
Man, I can relate! Having run my channel for 12 years now, I’ve had more than my share of trolls. It’s really tough to not read and comment back when you have a snarky response loaded and ready, but you’re right, it’s not worth it. The delete and block buttons are your friend.
Rick & Rhett; you guys have two of the best UA-cam Channels in the guitar community! I subscribe to both of your channels. I enjoy your comments, shared opinions, reviews of band & songs, instruments, etc., and look forward to your new post! Thanks for what you do! We love it!! Best to you both!!!
Level headed and informed. As usual, you guys have provided a realistic and personal view of a subject that needs to be talked about. It's unfortunate that there are those out there who feel they can say whatever they like because they have anonymity behind a keyboard. They affect us all by the callous nature of the vitriol they spew into the internet. We all lose when those we admire and follow step down from social media because of this kind of abuse. All the more power to Joe. He took the right path as far as I'm concerned. And thank you both for putting this out there.
I read about Joe quitting social media. I can't speak to "should he?", but I immediately wanted to reach out and give him some encouragement. It's not really possible without social media, though!
I think the Pony Express still goes to his record company or management offices. The internet doesn't run the whole world, sometimes you have to do things yourself.
Personally I’m shocked he hasn’t come to that conclusion earlier!!!! The seemingly large and dedicated clique of Bonamassa haters out there is astounding… and they’re really vocal about it. Personally I’m not really a fan of Joes playing or music BUT….i can’t play at 20% of his level and never will be able too. Nor can I write a song like he can, and the mere fact that he is the wealthiest most successful blues genre artist ever shows you the amount of drive and intelligence this man has to get there! If you can’t RESPECT that then the word “MALCONTENT” comes to mind! There isn’t one person that knows him or has met him that doesn’t say he’s the nicest guy you could meet! Well Joe…. You have nothing but my upmost respect sir!
You guys are such good men. I consistently love the tone and the candor of your speech, and I feel that it only builds towards a positive community. Acknowledging the hard work necessary, the harsh realities, and moving forward with purpose. We’re here for it 🤘🏾
People can be both kind and cruel. My advice is that if you like what you see in the mirror, keep doing what you’re doing! You two guys are good human beings, keep the faith! God bless.
Been following you both for a while now and it's been so rewarding! I've been a music and concert photographer for several years and social media has been an invaluable tool which has opened a few doors for me and kept me abreast of what was happening in the local music scene. And you're right...if you put your work out in public, you may get responses you won't appreciate. I've experienced it and like Rhett said, it can be (and has been) a learning experience from which I've grown. I just watched the documentary, The Social Dilemma on Netflix last night and social media is becoming a place that for all the benefits we enjoy, they come at a price. It really is a shame we lost Joe.
It is a loss for the guitar community, especially the blues guitar community, Joe has been in the game for so long and has a wealth of knowledge that he always seemed willing to freely share. Too many creeps out there hiding behind a screen, it's not just in guitar but every other online space, sports, theater, film, dance, everywhere.
see my comment I feel exactly as you do I just love Joe: his looks, his real-ness no fakery, and he's as real as his music, which he gives his all! 💋 🌹 rosita
Have watched both of you for a long time. You guys are tops. My world is better for having your talents, expertise, and love for music in it. Keep up the good and blessed work you are both doing. You are APPRECIATED.

I back Joe on his decision , People are truly A$$holes as Randy S says,, Joe keep on jamin man, a lot of us truly enjoy your music and your interviews!!!!! Thx Rhett and Rick for bringing it to our attention...
Joe built a career and a loyal fan base from the ground up based on raw talent and hard f%$king work which took decades. Social media needs him more than he needs it.
Been in the works of slowly weaning out of social media. With the being said, I wanna say something positive. It is extremely hard to be consistent among other things like being creative, transparent, energized, and positive. I appreciate both Rick and Rhett being consistent influences to a community of people who have a lot to say
Saw Joe at red rocks earlier this yr, He shared a story about being at his hotel bar from the stage, couple guys were complaining about the influx of people, they said "yea they're all here to see some fucking blues guy" not knowing he was at the bar, So from the stage he told the story and said(" yea I'm just some Fucking blues guy" ) before ripping an epic solo, He def wears his emotions on his sleeve and takes things to heart.
Thanks for the update. I'm not on Instagram much, so I didn't hear this news about Joe. Apparently someone made a negative comment about Joe's physical appearance. That's really a shame and unkind. Joe's a real gifted musician and nobody needs to be blasted with negative, unkind comments about their physical appearance. I remember as a child being told or hearing others being told, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it.". That sure is good advice that applies to everyone, and it never becomes outdated. The Good Book says that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and we will eat the fruit of our Words (Prov 18:21). It also says that we've learned how to train every type of species, but we haven't learned how to train our tongues (Jas ch-3). May we all grow in speaking kind, encouraging words. I am often encouraged when I read comments here on YT. I usually read mostly really good, positive comments...👍👌👏🙂
Maybe a lot of people have forgotten but Joe Bonomasa was a child guitar prodigy. I think he took on a lot of ridicule as a much younger guy for having a idk “geeky” kind of look but he pushed passed that and is for sure now a living legend. He’s not wrong. People can say anything without consequence and often times when people say things that get under your skin it leaves you feeling stupid because it is high school antics bs and you get sucked right into it. Except you can’t fight at the park after school to set things right. Social media sucks. You have to be pretty strong to not engage with the haters and trolls. Best solution is don’t respond keep growing and getting bigger, that’s what they really hate.
Bless Joe Bonamassa and all that he has created for the world to enjoy. He is very humble and kind. He has earned my respect and admiration. The world needs more humans like Joe that create positive contributions to the world. You are loved and respected and your legacy will be remembered by the world. Thanks for all your lessons and those wonderful "show and tells" with your friends.
You guy's are class act, and this is the reason why I like bot of your chanel. The guitar community will lost on the long run without the talent and wisdom of Joe Bonamassa. The core of the problem with social media is it's is business model who relies on click, many people choose to do crazy things in the goal of create an impact or create a contrevesy. The media lost is soul and become degenerate by the fuels that creates lies, bad words and fake news. In the process people won't stop causing dommages because people are makings money in the process. The impact on the society is monumental and deeper that what we can see, and is the responsibility of everybody to make that place a better one.
Wow this is really interesting. Well done to you both. Thinking of going more public and this discussion really helps to get my thinking straight on criticism. Thank you both and best of luck to Joe Bonamassa.
Hard to imagine Joe " provoked" but better forewarned than sorry. Joe knows himself better than I, so I wish him well, and look forward to his next album or collaboration. Rick, have you extended Joe an invitation to visit/record/interview in your studio? I hope so. Love to see & hear that!
I love both of you and have gotten so much from your youtubes. Please keep doing what you're doing. 👍 I really dislike how people are so comfortable making negative, unhelpful comments.
The bottom line is that most of the hate (and ‘criticism’ if we really want to call it that) comes from folks that aren’t doing anything substantial with their own lives. So it’s easy for them to sit back and critique as this serves as their excuse to remain stagnant and not put forth the effort to make a pursuit. You do have to have thick skin. But more than that, spend that energy on the majority of folks that support you. The other stuff isn’t worthy of your time. And I strongly agree with Rick with UA-cam being the best platform!
Well, you know its ridiculous. Why does Joe Bonamassa get this flack? You never hear of an accomplished blues guitarist getting this shit.I`ll stump up my money if he does a tour near me and i now it will be money well spent.
This was a very necessary and mature conversation. It shows that the internet can be a place for this, which gives hope to all the serious users. - Thanks for the post.
Rick and Rhett, I very much appreciate both of your UA-cam channels and all that you offer and share with the greater guitar and music community. I have learned so much form you both. I am glad that you had this discussion and posted this video. Thanks for your honesty and being real about human side of your work on social media. The most of us are very grateful.
I think it’s a hard double edged sword. When you are engaged with your viewers/followers, it can be really powerful and beneficial, but dealing with morons and trolls is a toxic byproduct. Unless you have a trained social media team, this is probably the best option. You’ve got to have a boundary that keeps you distanced from trolls and know-it-alls (who typically don’t know their asses from their elbows).
Rhett and Rick - I have an online business not related to music. I've been doing it for 15+ years. I am about to put a channel on UA-cam for my business but the one thing I think of when I get a bone head ia "It's his problem, not mine. Any thought I hold makes it my problem." It usually works for me but not always. It's also a fact. Regarding Joe, he obviously is devoted to his music and, unfortunately that comes with well-deserved pride. About 20 years ago I started to do some meditation. One hour a day for a year. It literally changed my mind. I haven't done it in over 10 years, but the result is still the same - I can choose to block things out mentally. It made a huge difference in the quality of my life. Those two pieces may or may not help others. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Both excellent channels and are inspirations. Since my retirement I spend 2-3 hours a day playing mostly acoustic guitar and banjo. I took voice less that surprisingly worked. - John
I appreciated this video. Great insight and advice! One piece of critique on UA-cam is that I don't like the thumbs down response. It doesn't help the creator in any way. Tell me what you didn't like so I won't do it again or fix it.
I'm here courtesy of Mr. Beato. Glad I found the channel! I'm looking forward to exploring it. My seeing this video now is good timing, as I was researching Mr. Beato's Christmas Bundle and came across unpleasant commentary on both UA-cam and Reddit. I've been a fan of Mr. Beato's channel since it started and this toxicity bothered me. I'm glad you addressed this topic - and sad it's impacted someone you care for so negatively. All the best.
Social media is a minefield. I do hope Joe sticks around and shares his love for music and guitars . I listen to songs, I don't look at them . I totally enjoy both your video channels as well .

I’m in total agreement with your father. Wise man.
With AI getting more and more intrusive I think shutting it all down would definitely simplify things, but pandora's box has been opened.

It's respectable that Joe has the self awareness to see an issue in his life and take steps to resolve it before it turns into a public problem. Good for him!

I've never been a fan of his music, he's great, just not my cup of tea, but damn, you have to love the mans enthusiasm for the instrument. He's truly a great ambassador for the guitar.
Good comment.
I feel the same way
Isn't it cool how musical tastes are so individualized? Joe is one of my very favorites. I've seen him about 5 times.

Joe was one of the first to embrace YT, Spotify, people filming him and sharing gig videos and anti social media. If he thinks it’s time to leave or at least have a break from it, then good luck to him - although I hope he stays on YT.

one of the worst parts of social media is that gives people unreal courage to say whatever hurtful thought comes to their mind and they enjoy doing it because they have so many insecurities to hide and by attacking a successful person they feel powerful.
Exactly.
That is not exactly accurate. People have been able to do this previously. For ages, creators have been complaining about critics and their opinions. It is just that now you get to hear everyone's opinions, if you choose to be fully engaged. Joe should know that selection and editing is the individual's super power when it comes to media.

Level headed and informed. As usual, you guys have provided a realistic and personal view of a subject that needs to be talked about. It's unfortunate that there are those out there who feel they can say whatever they like because they have anonymity behind a keyboard. I read about Joe quitting social media. I can't speak to "should he?", but I immediately wanted to reach out and give him some encouragement. It's not really possible without social media, though!
Think about this... maybe Joe doesn't want or need the validation or encouragement from strangers... anymore than the toxic crap that he gets?

It also says that we've learned how to train every type of species, but we haven't learned how to train our tongues (Jas ch-3). May we all grow in speaking kind, encouraging words. I am often encouraged when I read comments here on YT. I usually read mostly really good, positive comments...👍👌👏🙂
Thanks for this video, Rhett. Nice to know that even for bigger channels this is a real pain in the ass.
Both of you guys are awesome. I appreciate what you do online and I’m grateful that you are there. This same goes for Joe.
have you ever seen jo live
This was a very necessary and mature conversation. It shows that the internet can be a place for this, which gives hope to all the serious users. - Thanks for the post.
Rick and Rhett, I very much appreciate both of your UA-cam channels and all that you offer and share with the greater guitar and music community. I have learned so much form you both. I am glad that you had this discussion and posted this video. Thanks for your honesty and being real about human side of your work on social media. The most of us are very grateful.
Awesome observation of this topic! Rick and Rhett keep up the great work! You both are intelligent and insightful!
Hope you'll never quit guys!!! Love your videos! Every single one of them...
Thanks for leading a discussion on this, a very helpful perspective.
Good discussion. I like that Rick mentioned his empathy for the projection of others who are unhappy. That's important to remember.
I, for one, will miss Joe's kindness, knowledge, wit and generosity of spirit.
As a new UA-camr, and fellow Atlantan, I really appreciated this video.
Social media is a minefield. I do hope Joe sticks around and shares his love for music and guitars . I listen to songs, I don't look at them . I totally enjoy both your video channels as well .
