    Lithuania and its 30,000 soldiers will now be way more dangerous 😂give me a break. A country that small, with such a small army, should be declaring neutrality, and fostering trade deals, so that they don't have to go to war with anyone.

    Baltic countries are very small but they have ego of astronomical size. Estonian prime minister came to India and they were lecturing us indirectly about democracy .

      Well, a look at the international democracy index shows that Estonia, in 27th place, is still considered an incomplete democracy, unlike EU members such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany or the Netherlands...
      However, it is still far above India, which is also rated as incomplete democracy in 41st place.

      Average life expectancy for men in the EU is 77 years.
      Average life expectancy for men in Russia in 2022 (before the war) was 66 years.
      Don't worry about the standard of living in the EU, but Russia hasn't published any figures since the war started, it probably got too bad.

    Last year, the EU approved 12 sanction packages against Russia and the Russian economy grew 3%. Meanwhile, the German economy is in "tatters". The EU sanctioned itself.

      Russia is far from being a great or healthy or happy country in its existing overbloated size and expanding further will only make matters worse for themselves not just for those whose land it steals. It already has to be held together through autocracy and violence, where a third of homes lack an indoor toilet, opposition politicians and journalists are eliminated, where you can be arrested for criticising the govt, where life expectancy is pitiful...

    As long as Lithuania does not invest a self-destructive 40 percent of its budget in the defense industry, as Russia already does, Lithuania's economy should not suffer serious long-term damage.

      The war economy is slowly eating itself up and its end is accompanied by a severe economic crisis.
      At the end of the war, Russia will probably be living through the post-Soviet 90s again.

      The USA has a military budget of $820.3 billion, which is 13.3% of the total budget. You seem to forget that the US economy is roughly 10 times larger than that of Russia.

    Stupid comments. As if Lithuania has nothing to fear and its increased focus on defence spending to 3% of GDP is foolish. Let's recap. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia has increased defence spending to about 7% of GDP (I don't see any comments in RT/HT criticising this), Russia has stated its desire to restore the territories of the USSR (which includes Lithuania). So according to RT/HT there is nothing for Lithuania to be concerned about. Yea sure. When did RT/HT become a Kremlin mouthpiece?

      3% is a LOT for a country that is not at war. Russia is at war, the 7% is reasonable while the war goes on. Also Lithuania won't be at war any time soon as long as NATO doesn't get involved. Also, Lithuania has very little population, unless it goes full North Korea, it won't ever be a threatening military force. What Lithuania should do is declare itself neutral, and foster cooperation with its neighbors. Fear mongering will get them nowhere, and antagonizing Russia is a terrible idea.
