I lived at Holloman when I was a kid. I lived most of my life listening to the Beautiful sounds of many different jets taking off and landing and I find that the sound of an afterburner calms me the most. BrasherGirl.
Many, many years (74-06) I’ve talked to Cherokee and Holloman approach for handoff into and out of R5107B. I was a ZAB controller Sectors 19, 89, and 80 on the West side and Sector 23 in the East. Got to fly a T-38 and a couple of F15s at HMN..
Noticed the "gentle rollout" at 17:41. Been there, haha. It's okay, though. We all get a little focused sometimes. Helps to anticipate. I remember HMN TDY. Long time ago...
It's uncanny how familiar this all sounds and looks for me as a flight simmer (DCS). We have the same problems re-joining sometimes, same procedures to resolve that. I have done the "What's your altitude/heading" and "Check your Yardstick/ A/A Tacan" spiel so many times. However, because it's a game and we fly modern jets with perfect datalink and modern radars, we fly much more aggressive rejoins. My lead would yell at me for taking over 5 minutes to rejoin on him, lol. Thank you for that video and especially for keeping it as-is. We virtual pilots can learn a lot from something like this, cutting video and overlaying music means it loses so much of learning-relevant context.
VISUAL vs. TALLY…thought they were going to call fight’s on and BFM. Speedbrakes, centered and up…, dude, get your leg away from the speedbrake switch on the throttle! Turbulent…😂. Cool to see the old stomping grounds. Rage thru the valleys/canyons on the range. Plus the AT-38B sight with the dummy photo pack, make sure it clicks secure!
T-38 on rear seat the call to the front seat anytime you used the speed brake was “Speed Brake center and up” because the rear seat didn’t have lock position and they would creep out.
Oh yeah she chased the blackbird!, Ask a couple of pilots. That's all I have to say now and I'm going to bed. But I'm going to dream of beautiful f****** vapor trails, and being able to chase a blackbird...
It’s the Holloman AFB TACAN, a ground based navigation tool used by pilots. The Tacan and other ground based NAVAIDs emit the Morse code identifier so you know you have tuned in the right frequency and are using the correct NAVAID. A VFR sectional as well as instrument approaches using the NAVAID will have the Morse identifier listed for pilots to cross check.
Why do you think astronaut pilots studied in these jets,? Are you serious bro? Somebody actually designed a jet that was worth the s***! Yeah we have faster yeah we have better. But I guarantee you, any astronaut you know would love to fly a T
Incredible footage. They've even got mirrors enabled!

BrasherGirl.
I like both the sound and the smell of JP4.
Best training video I have seen so far.

Thanks. Adding this to my DCS playlist. I think I'll learn somethings.

Sounds like there isn't much engine noise. All around great video.

How was calling in the T-38 to get closer to Eagle during the turns?
I assumed it was the 38 backseat at the time.
curious as to the B61 practice nuclear bomb on the port rail....
My dad flew this plane when he was deployed in America he has pretty sick picture and poster given to him

Anybody thats flown a Cessna for more than 20 minutes would absolutely LOVE to fly a T-38.
Everyone I know who flew the T38 hated it.
It’s a great training jet…
Because it’s so damn difficult to fly you learn real quick.
