    Bucket is just a weird dude. I saw him play live and his live show was a trip. About 2/3 of the way through the show he brought out a bag and started handing out items from the bag to the audience. The items included a DVD of a lit fireplace, random action figures and other items that just made no sense as a rock concert souvenir.
    That said, I am so happy I got to see him play live. It was definitely worth it!!

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  6 років тому +138

      Oh cool, man! Yeah Bucket likes to hand out gifts at his shows and receive gifts too. There's a rumour that those gifts are possessions of his victims and that he's getting rid of evidence by giving them away to fans haha
      Awesome that you saw him live, definitely an amazing experience.

      He just loves his fans. He likes to hand stuff out to his fans. I heard he's a really generous guitar player. He likes to meet his fans and receive stuff from em. I'd love to see him live sometime but he's into music for musics sake. He charges $2 for an album lol while everyone else charges out the tail. He's a nice guy. He's mentioned in an interview bout he needs prayers for health issues so tbh I think he's a Christian.

      How does one aquire guitar lessons from a famous guitarist like Paul Gilbert? My first guitar teacher was a washed up poor man's version of David Lee Roth. He tried to look like Roth but tried to play like Eddie. He got frustrated with me 2 lessons in... I was an 11 year old kid... of course my attention span was that of a gnat. He was an ass hole. He wasn't my teacher for long, or actually he didn't work there for long because a couple weeks later I had a new teacher.

      Kiss is a great example of another act that hid behind makeup/masks/costumes way back in the days before the Internet...but it was part of their act. The mystery of who they were sold tickets. In this case, it's about someone who doesn't want to be known at all, just listened to, and there is nothing wrong with that. He's a remarkable player.

I can say that I remember his father Tom (aka "Coach Carrol"). Coach Carrol taught PE during the school day ... Funny memory, I always remember him for telling us freshmen to keep the locker room simple, that we dont need to bring 3 different soaps and deoderants in for different body parts (omitting the graphical demonstration that made it funny). Coach Carrol was a great guy.

    Great video. I have only one comment and it's more just an elaboration of what you were eluding to at the end. I feel like Buckethead is more than just the music. He's found his way to express himself to make himself happy and able to share it with others. All the while hiding his personal life and social life. It's literally nobody's business even though we care about him and love him. He says more without words than all the other "outspoken" artists that are the head of popular culture. Our society is constructed to distract us on a daily basis with pretentiously crafting perfectly designed forms of 'popular art'. All of which are there to create a feeling of the need for consumerism.
    Thanks for sharing the vid.

      I mean yes its him. I mean he has never hidden anything but his face, he has said who is in multiple interviews and people who know him have said he is Brian Carrol, the mystery was started early on when he played with GnR and people wanted to speculate that he was really some famous guitarist playing under a hidden alter-ego. I think the bucket was just some kind of weird angle he came up with early on and it had the added benefit once he became well known of allowing himself to have a normal life without having to have people coming up to him all the time asking for autographs and shit.

    Ive thought about Bucket and what most people think is a gimmick, but he said in his interview that he has always been an introvert. Because he is very shy most think the mask and bucket allow the real Brian Carroll to come out. Bucket said this is not true, the mask and bucket allow Buckethead to come out on stage. Buckethead is as much a part of himself as Brian Carroll is. Not only that but if you delve even deeper the Buckethead character is a brilliant marketing angle. All rockers age some not so well. It doesnt matter to Buckethead, because he has a mask and an onstage persona that does not age. He can do this as long as he wants to present the Buckethead persona and his body holds up. Im not sure if Bucket thought this through on a conscious level but if he did it was genius on his part. In an case he is a prolific composer, brilliant musician and appears to be an even better person. Long live Bucket...cheers

    Leave Ace...errrr, I mean Buckethead alone. He'll do an "unmasked" album when he's ready.

    I ❤Buckethead. He is a beautiful weird/unique, extremely talented & modest human being.

    I've talked to Bucketheads cousin. Michael Meyers! He put it all in perspective.

    You said it perfectly: it's about the music. When it stops being about the music, it's time to move on.

    6:36 - Two of my favorite songs. I tear up every time. Especially "Watching the boats with my Dad. But, that said, both are stunning.
