I watched the 1997 anime first and I thought it was really good I decided to read the manga and man it’s by far the best manga and I heard about 2016 and 2017 so I watched it and man it was like wtf

bitchimmadog roofgurr - the whale demon cgi lost me, it just looked awful and lacked solid art direction. Which is a shame since this season has been a lot stronger in its animation direction. I'm guessing they'll fix it for the Bluray cut.

I know this is nowhere near as good as the manga, but god damn Guts is still looks badass in spite of the terrible animation.
Those trolls may be vicious monsters that can devour and slay many normal people but Guts can take on an army of warriors that are at peak human level or above that and still ask for more. They didn’t stand a chance once he decided to kill them all
What really bothered me about this scene was how he taunted the trolls with his iron hand. It's not a Skywalker Mark II cybernetic prosthetic. The only reason he can use it to swing his sword with it is because of the magnet (still a bit of a stretch, but forgivable). If he could wiggle his iron fingers here, then he should have been able to grip Casca when she fell off the ship later on right? But the fact that he couldn't was made into a big plot point. It's where the "even if you meticulously piece something back together, it doesn't mean it'll be the same as it was" quote is from.

Not until he gets the Berserker armor anyway.
It's not magic. He can use it to wield his sword because it's magnetic, but that's the only thing he can use it for. It's specifically shown later in the manga that he can't use those fingers.

The berserk anime looks like they coloured the individual panels from the manga and animated them, and then slapped a bunch of crappy cgi to fill in the blanks. Some of the shots look alright and sometimes it just dips in quality
