GBO2 High Mobility Zaku II (Late Model): Lightning fast speed?!

  • This video contains two matches I had with the LV1 and LV2 Late Model High Mobility Zaku II on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400-450 cost general with insanely high boosting speed, Forced Injectors skill along with a high damage missile launcher and grenades for use with hit and run strategies. It has some pretty heavy downsides to make up for this though; such as low HP, pitiful melee damage and worse stun output than the 300 cost High Mobility Zaku due to lacking a machine gun sub weapon. This suit really excels at using its fast boosting speed to flank or go on hit and run attacks, but it demands a lot of skill to not get caught out and easily destroyed due to the low durability. It can easily handle raids with its high damage and stun accumulation while also being able to outspeed them, so suits like Red Rider are finished. I hope that you enjoy watching!
    It can choose from a range of primary weapons including the Zaku bazooka, giant bazooka, MMP-78+GN or simplified missile launcher. Though these all lack the burst damage and stun accumulation of the SML. The SML has 850x4 power, 4 ammo, 4 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds reload, 2.5 seconds swap time, 400m range and 50%x4 stagger value. This has slower velocity and lower single shot power/accumulation than other bazookas, but has the benefit of shooting all four shots one after the other. This can easily output 200% accumulation to stop any raid with ease or to dump 3400 ballistic damage near instantly. Though you can also cancel the firing early to have a 4 second cooldown bazooka. This cancelling technique is needed to confirm melee against suits with a dodge roll, so keep in mind that you should only shoot as many shots as you need to stun if you want to go for melee.
    Its primary melee weapon is a heat hawk with 1750 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This is going to do pretty pathetic damage considering the 300 cost tier power and 0 melee modifier on the MS itself. It is easy to land considering the swap time and MS boosting speed though, so you will still want to go for it. But at that point it is more for the utility of easing pressure on your teammates or setting up for them rather than your own damage.
    Its only sub weapon is a hand grenade with 1750 power, 3 ammo, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 0% stagger value. This lacks any sort of stagger value unlike other grenades but instead has insanely high power. Raids can often take over 3000 damage from a single grenade toss. By alternating between this and the SML, you can output seriously high DPS and easily melt any raid. The low power of your melee also means that the optimal follow-up to a downswing is to throw a grenade. This also gives your allies space to come in and use their likely more powerful melee instead.
    The LV1 Late Model HiMo Zaku has 12500 HP, 17 beam/ballistic defence and 8 melee resist. This is pretty squishy for 400 cost, about 1500 HP below average with low melee resist as well. You will basically instantly melt if caught in melee combat so you should use your mobility to avoid this whenever possible. It is a little less squishy at 450 cost due to gaining +3000 HP there. It has LV2 Emergency Evasion System which grants it two dodge rolls before overheating.
    It also has 115 walking speed, 230 boosting speed, 75 thrust and 60 turning speed. Other than the below average walking speed it has absolutely amazing mobility. It also has the benefit of having LV1 Forced Injectors at a cost where this is rare. It can even play in higher costs rather well due to gaining LV2 Forced Injector at 450-500 cost along with +5 walking/+3 turning speed per MS level increase. This makes Late Model HiMo Zaku pretty much the fastest MS available for 400-500 cost, only really being rivalled by the High Mobility Gelgoog line of MS. Even over these though, it has even higher boosting speed while only losing out on walking speed.
    Overall I think that while this suit certainly has a lot of advantages when it comes to shooting DPS and mobility, it is at a cost where it is competing with some other pretty strong shooting generals as well. Zudah F is also a 400 coster and while it lacks the same high shooting DPS with -15 boosting speed as well, it still has high mobility while having even better raid hunting ability due to heavy stagger primary and good sub weapons for stunning. It isn't going to be terrorizing the enemy teams legs quite as well as a suit like Sniper II WD can either. I think it could use a buff like adding 50% stagger value to the grenade and adding the same machine gun sub weapon as the 300 cost HiMo Zaku. This would increase the stagger output and leave it not selfishly throwing grenades as much as it does at the moment. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!

    Probably my favorite suit in the game after the zaku flipper. I run the level 3 with full ranged damage, as a second line or hit-and-run suit. Great for denying corridors, especially if you can land the grenades. I'm almost always top diversion lol

    The buffs definitely did it favors. I think it's my favorite suit for zipping to and from different fights on the map

    I tried the Zaku HiMo 2 for the first time yesterday, my main complaint was that the simplified RL's reload time left me unable to attack for a long while. Just learned that the grenades are actually meant to be used as weapons.

      best riders dont heavy they juggle you to death and flank and hunt people out alone and they absolutely do work

      You could add more HP, melee armour and melee damage. But this really won't fix its issues. And by taking melee modifier and HP you are sacrificing leg armour, so you are kinda screwed if fighting Sniper II WD or any other good leg breaker. So I think it is best to lean into the strengths of the suit with reloaders, range modifier and leg armour.

    Do you think running it with the zaku bazooka makes it a viable/decent bluezook at 400?

      I think it is weak if not using the simplified missile launcher. If you take a regular bazooka then you have no way to break raids or generals MA and are still doing really bad melee damage. 12500 HP and 8 melee resist means that something like GM Dominance might even be able to kill you in one combo, which is kinda likely to happen if you put yourself in danger with frontlining positioning. There are far better melee generals at 400 cost really.

    Out of curiosity, does building into defence reduce more damage then building hp would offset? And does focusing into whichever one is the better build of those two end up being better then building a balance of the two?

      It depends on HP. Resistance is a percentage based reduction, so 20 melee resist equals 20% less melee damage taken. This means that HP can either be more or less valuable than resists. When a suit has something like 17000-18000 HP then you kinda need to slap on those resistances. But often you will have the chance to build both, often with melee resist+HP at lower costs.

      Way faster. This thing has 230 boosting speed but Alma Zaku has 190. It also gets Forced Injector.

    Sooo basically how to win at this game is only use a rocket and melee and that's about it. I never see you using machine gun

      Cause most machine guns are really weak and poorly balanced by the developers. It is a trial in patience to use them. Like the alternate primary machine gun for this Zaku fires about 5 shots a second, needs 25 hits to stun, has a high degree of bullet spread and poor DPS (only about 700 I believe?). So by using a weapon like that over the 4 shot missile launcher you basically lose any stunning ability to help your team with and don't even get good DPS in return. Can't even stop raids. They would need a pretty massive buff to be worth using outside of suits which have good stunning sub weapons already.

      @@avenger1_gbo260 I guess that's why I'm so bad. I only use MS with machine guns because I can't aim for shit. I simply can't use beam because I keep missing.
