Thank you for the excellent explanations. But I still have one problem: I just can't find the download link for the V.1.05. My A7IV is still using the Ver.1.01 and I'm stuck. Thanks for any help!!
It sounds like your SD card may be locked. Check to see if the little tab on the SD card is in the locked position or not. If that doesn't work try reformatting the SD card on your computer or camera.
I followed directions carefully and 4 tries wouldn’t let me update from 1.10-1.05. I got to update on my camera then it wouldn’t let me go past that. It said there’s no card in slot 1, there was. Said no media on card or card is damaged. Same thing with two different cards. I started over completely 3 times deleting everything from all devices. It wasn’t clear to me exactly how/where on the memory card to put the update file. I put it in private and or root.
The update file should be placed in the root level of the memory card. When you deleted the files from the memory card did you delete them on the computer or reformat the memory card in the camera?
@@DesireeRodriguez I did. Thank you for trying to help me. At the moment I’ve given up. I tried 2 different memory cards reformatting them with each retry to update firmware, which was at least 5 times. I started completely over each time deleting the download on the computer even deleting in trash folder. Then redownloaded. I sent my problem to Sony but of course no response. I did exactly like the UA-cam instruction for the memory card. The first time I put the download directly into the root file and that didn’t work. So next time I put it into the private file didn’t work either. Kept trying but never got to the execute part. Camera kept saying no card in slot one or no media on card or card damaged. The cards do work fine in my camera after all that. Thank you again.
@@DesireeRodriguez oh another question, when placed in the “root level” does that mean open the “root level” and drop in there? I did that on the first try. But directions from several other UA-camrs showed dropping it where the words mroot, private etc. were. That part wasn’t exactly perfectly clear to me.
@@DesireeRodriguez Thank you. I may have ruined something with my first attempt doing it wrong. But trying with another card and not messing up I would think it would have worked. I’ll try again when I have time to waste. The thing I’m most interested in is better eye auto focus. I don’t need the rest of the update.
Desiree, your explanation is the ONLY one that made any sense. Thank you, thank you, thank you. V2.00 safely put to bed in my Sony A7M4
You're welcome!
Thank you, madam.
Very elucidated.

@@DesireeRodriguezThank you very much!
I have an old SanDisk Ultra SDXC I (32GB) card from my previous camera. Do you know if I can use that one for firmware updates? Thank you!
It may work but it will take longer for the camera to read the card and complete the update since it's a much slower speed.
When I download the update file for 1.05. It doesn’t allow me to drag over to SD Card. Any tips how to fix that issue?

@@tc7486 I just put it in the main area of the card where you see the folders. I don’t put it inside any of the folders just next to them.
