The camera is better than most people realize. It’s shame that people live and die by UA-cam reviews from people that don’t use and will never use this camera or others. I use it daily and it’s actually very good.
Been filming for over 25 years, Had the FX3 and sold it in the pandemic and went with the A7IV, a month ago I decided to get the FX30 and LOVE it. Actually more than the FX3, I never shoot super low light nor 4K 120p so the FX30 is perfect and you cannot beat the price. I use the Tamron 11-20 and 17-28 and that covers me for anything I need from wide to normal. The FX30 "haters" have NO idea what they are talking about and are usually NON professional wishing they just had an FX3 for no real reason. Just my Honest professional opinion.
What kind of setting would you consider as super low light? I was wondering if I'm going to get clear shots of city lights, streets, neon lights etc. for music videos.
@@sconson21 I’d shoot in s-log 3 at 2500 ISO. This is the higher native base iso for this sensor. Use 800 for daytime and 2500 for nighttime. If you need more, you can bump it up a bit more or try to introduce more light into your frame!
14:50 great video but small correction - What you're describing is "Focus Hunting", "Focus Breathing" is when the field of view seems as if the lens is zooming or changing focal length as you pull focus. 🤟🏽🤟🏽
6:37 This right here (overheating) I cannot begin to describe to you how big of a deal this is for me. I've been making UA-cam videos for over a year now and it typically takes me a few hours to film. My sony A6000 has been hanging by a thread. It can't record past 22 minutes at a time and it constantly overheats after just one take. So currently I have to take 15 minute breaks in between takes which makes times where I mess up even more frustrating. If the camera DOES overheat, I also never realize it because the screen doesn't flip to me and there's no recording light. So I'll just be talking to myself for 15 minutes without it recording and not even know. These are things that UA-camrs should consider. I just made my first purchase with UA-cam money today to buy this camera and so far I haven't seen anything else live up to the internal cooling that this camera has. People are like "oh that's overkill for what you need" but no, to your point if you're filming anything for long periods of time something like this IS necessary. I am held back all the time from things I want to film because of overheating. All video focused cameras should have internal cooling.
The FX30 is a WICKED camera. I just bought my third one the other day. I've got the cheap pancake kit zoom lens for an everyday carry on one, two Sigma 18-50 f2.8 lenses on the other two bodies, and the Sirui Nightwalker 5-lens set with two of Sirui's anamorphic adapters just in case I wanted to do something a little more involved. So yeah, completely sold on this camera system :D
Great video. I’m definitely going to get this camera. I’m running the A6700 now so I’m already committed to APSC lenses. I do mostly UA-cam and product reviews but I do want to get into real estate and corporate jobs. This is just my side hustle for now. Subscribed!
Thanks for the great review! I've been looking at the FX30 as a starter camera for getting in to filmmaking. You've helped me make my decision easier. Cheers!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching. Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions! Also, if you haven’t already, if you use my affiliate link in the description that would be much appreciated and you’d be supporting the Channel🔥
I personally havent' had any issues yet! I haven't heard of it being too big of a problem yet. Then again they only put out the camera two years ago...
The problem is a lot people dont know the potential of this camera can do, if anything they may not know how to use it. To be honest, I don’t recommend it as a first camera. I consider this as a professional camera. It’s definitely some of my go to camera
Really good video. I’d like to add that if you’re using APS-C lenses, there’s no such thing as crop. That’s just marketing BS. Your lens is projecting the exact image circle made for your camera. Saying that APS-C has a crop would be like saying Full frame has a 1.8x crop (relative to medium format). If you’re shooting video and super 35 has been a standard for decades, why compare it to vista vision?
Hey! Amazing video, really loved it! 😊 I'm looking for a versatile camera that works well for professional use (creative cinema/movement, especially for motorsports) but also personal use (vlogging). The FX30 seems like a solid option, though its low-light performance compared to full-frame cameras is a downside. That said, the FX3 is a bit out of my budget. I've also heard about a possible new version coming in late 2025. Do you think it’s a good idea to invest in the FX30 now, along with a good lens and the rest of the gear? Thanks in advance for your input! 🙌
Thanks for watching! I would say go the FX-30 Route UNLESS you plan on needing one camera for photos and video. If you need more of a hybrid camera, I'd recommend the A7siii, or the A74. Don't forget to subscribe if you havent' already :)
@@v3blaxican yes! It’s a beast in the heat, you won’t be disappointed 🙌🏼 link in description to the camera if that’s the route you go! Would truly appreciate it!
I usually can shoot a 10 HR day with only two batteries! I have one of them charging at all times so I can constantly alternate if I need to. Usually only have to switch it once!
The FX 30 is a great camera- and - at its' base ISO's of 800 and 2500 it is a cleaner sharper image than the FX 3 because it is down-sampled from a 6K sensor! No question in very low light the FX3 wins - but I never need ISO 12,800 in my shooting- in fact almost ALL actual high end cinema cams top out at ISO 2500-3200 ! Just add a touch of light (as long as you are shooting at 24fps/180 degree shutter - high Fram rates def need more light or higher ISO). 1 wish - they opened up a 6K RAW feed out the HDMI for an external recorder to grab that as open-gate - doubt they ever will as it would def eat into the higher priced camera market! As for a Super 35 sensor- that is kinda the 'standard' for most high-end Hollywood shooting - so anyone that says that is not 'pro' is in fact likely not a 'pro'!
Or go on specials like I did $1600 on elk Friday almost a year and Sam amazed and why go full frame with FX3 when you can get a very amazing image I use the SIRUI SNIIPER LENSES AMAZING!!!!

It also depends on the client who might ask for full-frame.
@@frankfeng2701rent a ff cam then, tho I bet no one requests ff….. they just mean they want a blurry background, apsc can do that too..
