Netgear R6400 WiFi Router: amzn.to/33dPJaR
Netgear R6700 WiFi Router: amzn.to/2rdaVu2
Today I’m reviewing the Netgear AC 1750 R6400 Smart Wifi Router. Now the model I am looking at is the R6400. Now there’s another model of the Netgear AC1750, the R6700, and if you’re wondering how these two models compare, I’ll get to that as well in a minute. I’ll leave links to both models, right below the video, in case you’re looking to buy one. The Netgear Netgear AC1750 R6400 is a pretty sleek looking device, with this angled spaceship liked design made of a semi-gloss black plastic. It has ventports for cooling on either side and has three antennas on the back. Most of the connectors and buttons are also neatly hidden away on the back. It has a yellow ethernet port that connects to your internet modem, a USB 2.0 port to connect it to a printer, an on-off button and a power jack. It also has 4 additional wired ports, in case you need to use a wired connection instead. It also has a usb 3.0 port on the front which allows you connect a usb flash drive or even a portable hard drive to it. This hard drive or flash drive can then be shared and used by all the devices on your wifi network. A very useful feature.
Now one thing to remember is that the R6400 is a pretty large router; measuring in at about 11 inch wide, by 7 inches tall by about 8.5 inches deep. It’s definitely much larger than any entry level wifi router as you can see when compared to my Netgear r6120, which I reviewed a few months ago. This is something to consider, if you plan to put it on a table or shelf. You can however, wall mount the router, using the slots on the bottom. The R6400’s indicator lights are also neatly arranged on the front and are very easy to see. When you buy the Netgear AC1750 R6400, it comes with a power adapter, an ethernet cable and a very useful quick start guide, which walks you through the installation process. To start setting it up, we need to connect it to our internet modem. Unplug the power on your internet modem and use the provided yellow ethernet cable and plug it into your internet provider’s modem and then plug the other end into the yellow port on the Netgear R6400. Then plug the power adapter into your router and power on both the modem and router. The indicator lights on the front will light up, go through a sequence and then finally turn white. Once this happens, we can do the rest of the setup on a computer. - Наука та технологія
great review, helped me out choosing between these 2!
Thank you, my mother has been wondering how to set it up, I showed this video to her and it helped her out a lot 😁
I was looking for setup video for someone who is not into tech stuff. This is an awesome video - well done.
Thanks!
Great review, bought a 6700 a few weeks back and it's a awesome router.
I have it set up in my lounge room under my TV for a central location and the reception covers the whole house easily.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
How many sq ft did it cover?
@@Reviewlamp does the speed depend on your location?
Do you have to like pay monthly for it? Like a cable bill
@@alexbaldwin6848 no, purchased it outright

Thank you very much sir you saved me a ton of time and confusion. Excellent video keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Great review! If you had to choose between this or the TP-Link AC1750, which would you recommend? Looking to upgrade from my terrible Optimum wirelss router.
I installed the R6700, This Video was better assistance that Quick Start that was inside of the Box. Thank you!
You’re welcome
Nicely done sir.
Very clean review and set up instructions that were concise and accurate.
We selected the 6700 based on this video.
Many thanks indeed.
Thanks for the comment
Can I move it anywhere in my house or does it have to stay connected to the motem
thank you for posting this video it helped me out so much
Glad it helped
I have the N R6400/ac1750 router connected to the N DM200 modem. Ive had AT&T ADSL since I purchased these & they work great. But Im moving to an area where the only available internet service is CenturyLink VDSL.
Ive read the N DM200 modem can run ADSL, VDSL, VDSL2 etc. But I cant find anything definitive regarding the N R6400/ac1750. Can it use VDSL or do I need another router for wifi?
If I need another router to handle VDSL, what would be a comparable router to the N R6400?
Thank you so much you made it easy to set up messed up the first time but got it this time
Thank you so much I love your video. It’s was very easy to follow. ✅👍😊
You’re welcome
Can I use this on AT&T internet service dsl. No cable coax connection. Use to have xfinity now with my direct tv bundle, now I have AT&T.
Awesome review!
Thanks!
I have the R6400 and I cannot access flash video on my webcam from the public side. It works on the inside network OK. Any advice? Port forwarding is configured properly. I don't see any firewall options on this router. FW is up to date.
Does this Netgear router also have geo filtering like the others?
So what if the yellow part already hve a Ethernet can u plug into others to get WiFi?
My only question is, this improves on your current internet speed and not just range right?
Wait so with that yellow cable do I have to plug it in to my modem or can I use it for other things I want this in my room that’s y lol
I really appreciate your video, its vey easy to follow, I hate read i am more a visual person, Thank you so much!!!!!!!
So happy it helped! Thanks for the comment.
Well done video and thank you for making and sharing, I just bought the R6400. It's currently about $20 more than the R6700 but BestBuy only had the R6400 and I didn't want to wait for shipping, previous router is on it's last legs and I had $20 in points on my BB account anyway so Inwent with the R6400. Can't wait to set it up. 😁👍
Nice and I got 1750 for 40$ of ebay 😂😂🤦♂️
Do u have to use a modem or no because before I only have a isp router from Comcast and I don’t have it so can I buy the router it’s self or no
Thanks for the info picked one up at goodwill in box for $2.99 at that price I figured it was worth the gamble.
what motem would you say works best with this router?
Thank you SO MUCH. Netgear didn't give setup instructions. You helped immensely.
Glad it helped. Please subscribe
How do i connect my secondhand router
is this better for gaming or nighthawk?
Sir ive tried everything. I cant get my gh to come on so my wifi wont pop up on any of my devices. Can someone please help!

During the setup the netgear router does not appear as an option to connect to, any idea why?
Thank you so much! I've been trying to get this connected for like a year.
you must be really lazy or not that bright... I fumbled around but that was mostly due to not reading

Now the neighbors have his WiFi password 👏🏼👏🏼
I live rural Oklahoma I don't have worry I have unlimited 3G/LTE modem Bec mx210np modem
Can you use this to extend WiFi through an Ethernet cable from the original router.
I have a 100 foot Ethernet cable going to my back house where the WiFi won’t reach and I’m trying to find some way to fix that..
Any help is appreciated..
Yes you can. Use this router. Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to this router, setup and that's it.
Is it good for downloading big steam games
I have been trying to update my firmware but it keeps going in loop and just unable to update. I ve just tried restarting my router and it still does not update. any hints?
Nathanael Chin same for me. Has your internet slowed down recently?
Detachable antennas??
I have had this for over 4 years and out of the blue ports 1, 2 and 4 dont even register anymore. I can only use port 3. I have done a factory reset and restarted the modem.
Do you have to pay like a monthly bill?
If I get this router, should I get a new modem too or should I connect the router to the modem that Spectrum gave me.
You can connect it to the existing router
i hope u can answer, what is that box u have on the side if ur router and how does it work?
Do you still need assistance? Haha
How do I connect it to my desktop and then use the Wi-Fi for all other electronic devices?
with an ethernet cable from the modem to the PC.
I bought this router so I could use it wirelessly from my room since my internet is bad over there but when I disconnect it from the modem I lose any internet connection I have is there any way you could help me
What you need is a WiFi extender like this one: amzn.to/3epFu6c This will connect wirelessly to this WiFi router and thus extend the WiFi network to your room.
I have spectrum WiFi and I just got this new router today. Trying to install and it's telling me my internet has no connection? Any ideas?
Same here. What a waste of time
Does it have a wps button
Do you have to set up TWO SSID's or can it manage the connection internally?
I don’t understand the question. Could you please explain a bit more about what you are trying to accomplish
Can you unplug the router from your normal modem and put it somewhere else after setting it up?
No, you cannot
Is there a way to reset admin info and password without knowing the previous info and password or security questions because I bought this off a person and try reset everything to default? Thank you
There is a reset button in the back of the router. Use a paperclip to press the button for a few seconds when the router is powered on. This should reset it to factory default
Hi anyone response would be appreciated so I bought a nighthawk router for my modem and when I connect to the internet it would sometimes take me to a website called time warner cable or it would connect to the WiFi and say no internet connection. I have unplugged both my modem and router repeatedly. Also when I go to the app called nighthawk and see if my router’s Internet is online but it says INTERNET:OFFLINE
Also in the netgear website the internet connection says good but I go to UA-cam on my iPhone nothing loads
Maybe it time to upgrade to a new cable modem switch form internet providers reset both your router and modem or check for firmware updates
Thank you
quick question, if i have a netgear router, and use a spectrum modem, can i change the mac address
MAC addresses are related to specific devices and not to the router or modem
Thx for help
How are the parental controls and can I turn off and restrict individual devices from my Phone. ( apple )
this is wifi...
James Bell yes you can download an app (nighthawk) in the App Store and you can control it from there
Does it have to stay connected to your modem because my PlayStation is in a different room than my modem
Yes it does
Netgear is amazing
I am connecting to a Frontier Arris NVG468MQ modem/router so will connect to the Netgear WAN slot from #4 on my Frontier Arris. Must have missed something here as you state that connecting the Netgear Router to power will power up both the Frontier modem/router and the Netgear router? So I don't reconnect the Frontier Arris?? Or is this just understood to connect that also. Thanks
The modem and router will both need to be powered on for this to work
@@Reviewlamp Many thanks, appreciate the quick response. Do I need to be aware of anything else when connecting to my Arris Modem/Router, or just move everything over to the Netgear router from the Arris. Thanks - you can tell I am not a network guy..
The wifi would be setup on the Netgear. The basic internet connection would be the wire from your modem to your Netgear router
@@Reviewlamp Got it, great.. Many thanks...I purchased the R6700 model so will figure out later what to do with/benefit of the USB storage. Have a great weekend.
Do I have to plug a coax cable in for my modem?
Sammy Ngu I don’t think so that’s what I was thinking.
Ask your ISP to switch from coax to Ethernet to use this router solely
Did I miss the step about shutting off the 2.4 and 5 Ghz radios on the ISP provided modem?
Typical ISP modems don’t have a Wifi radio. Unless the modem is a combo router-modem unit. In which case you would not need this wifi router
@@Reviewlamp Thanks for your reply. I was hoping this router (in addition to USB) would provide a layer of security (firewall?) and perhaps better range/speed beyond the ISP provided router-modem. I am still learning. Thanks for the video.
Once the router is on can I put it wherever I want without connecting cables to the modem?
No. You cannot. It has to remain connected to a router or to your internet service provider’s box
@@Reviewlamp My devices say that the router is connected but without internet. I went to speedtest on my phone and everything worked, but in my computer it says no internet. and says something about my ip adress is invalid
Does it cost money to have one of these? Ok you have to buy it but like over time or monthly like a cable bill
There is no rental charge if you purchase the device outright. See link below the video. However, you will have to continue paying for your regular internet service
Thank you:):):):):):)
i need help my ac1600 will not connect to the internet
is this router good for streaming twitch
Yes
Hello!
I got this router shown on the video.
But i only download Apex Legends at 4-6mbps?
The Pc is just 4 meters away i think?
And thoose sticks behind the pc is pointing the router?
John James Rambo
Hello Yes it is 4-6MB/s
John James Rambo
When i use the Ookla speed tester it shows 236 MBPS
Is this wifi good because I have a pc and I will like to stream Do you recommend it

I do Reccomend it!
@@nakesg4914 Yes - I have 3 PC's on it and stream a lot, a smartphone, a tablet, 3 TVs, arlo camera system and a security system. - all are wireless.
it i use this with direct t.v and is it faster than my tmobile hotspot
brian davidson need isp service with modem not a hotspot service with carrier service
I have internet however it’s upstairs and doesn’t work downstairs. I need it downstairs too. Does this machine work downstairs without plugging the Ethernet cable? 🤔
For that, I recommend using this device: amzn.to/3jCyLvV
🤗 thanks!!!
I have at&T with around 25 MBPS. how much MBPS will I get it if I get this.
This device doesn’t improve your internet speed. It just helps to maximize what you can get from your current internet connection
The max you'll get in 25 if that is what you pay for - and I think AT&T is 25. Your speed is determined by your internet provided (AT&T) in your case.
Why is mine have a red light
Is a modem mandatory for this or Just the router and Go?
You need a modem or an ethernet cable coming from your internet service provider’s “box”
Mine says I can't connect to internet? My stock modem/router combo from Comcast works normal and fine though?
Jay Lofa same
Jay Lofa any solutions or did you just stick with your old router?
@@reeserosemeter9344 I had the same issue. I had to call my ISP and have them reset the internet from their end... which fixed the problem. Not sure why, but that's what fixed it for me...
If you guys ever get a new router/modem or combo I would recommend having your ISP come to your location to connect the internet and make sure everything is working properly. Most companies from my experience have free tech support.
Wheres the wps button?
So do I have to need WiFi already to set this up? Or is this router going to give me WiFi??
This Router provides WiFi. You will need a wired internet connection
My 6700 will not connect to internet,I can disconnect and the computer works fine..Whats up??
Call NetGear - 1-888-638-4327 If that doesn't get you where you can ask questions, tell them your issue and ask them to transfer you to someone who can help.
Is it possible to combine 2,4 and 5Ghz into one network instead of 2 seperate ones?
No, they are separate
That's speed. I can switch to the higher speed for some things, and leave it on the lower speed for others. mine does change speeds at its whim, but never a problem.
You can combine both.
the last two buttons don’t turn white... what do i do.
sintaves look on yt lol
Nice review. Uploads are throttled by the provider so unless you have a T1 or other agreement with your provider uploads are almost always 1Mg/sec
Would this be good for if say I wanted to connect a PlayStation to it?
Yes. It would work fine
ReviewLamp great! I been trying to get a router so I can have just that on it, thank you 👍🏽
@@xavieralfaro7718 so wait if I buy this and connect an Ethernet cable to this, it should work good?
What are the USB ports used for
For network shared drives
Have owned mine for over 4 years and suddenly I can’t log in via the app. I do password resets, they send security codes, I change my password and then it won’t let me log in and I start the password reset all over again.
Fantastic
Thanks!
Hello what's the difference between the 5G conection and the other one?
Jesus Flores Hey! The difference between
SPEED
The 2.4 radio will give you greater range while the 5.0 will give you greater speed. Test both to see what works best in your situation. For devices in the back of the house I use the 2.5 for devices closer I use 5G.
I have a big house .
This works awesome !
Thanks for the comment
Is it mandatory that you have to go to the website
Yes
What modem did you use
It doesn’t matter what modem you have it can be a modem form netgear or aris
When I connect two consoles wired, one light is green and the other red. Even though both are giving internet. For example one for my PS4 and the other to the TV. Both give internet, but one light green and the other red. Is it normal?
Can this replace my default router from spectrum?
Yes
@@Reviewlamp i figured it out but thanks for your response!!
Do you have to pay monthly or something?
No
Is this router good for streaming Netflix?
Yes it works perfectly
Is it good for high latency games like fortnite?
Just Characterz who tf still plays fortnite
Just Characterz i need this shit for modern warfare
elyd avalos the kids who played fortnight moved to cod so i dont even play online games that are popular
Will this work if i am 30 feet from my router
Your computer is 30ft away from this router?
Do you need to connect it to the router to use the WiFi ?
Yes you need to connect your WiFi router to your modem the modem must be activated by cox xfinity or some other provider it gives u on the front of the box you can use a cable modem form netgear or aris
Ivan Rodríguez I have a cox one but i don’t pay for it I just had it in house can I still use it or do I have to use one that I’m paying for
Either one will do but if your planning to use the one you had already in your home call a service provider like Xfinity or any other company that can work with your modem and also for your router when you connect it to the back of the modem
i don’t even know what my midem looks like. i have x fi and im just confused
So do u still gotta pay for WiFi? If so, how?
You have to pay for your regular internet service, not wifi
So as soon as you turn it on you can connect devices?
Yes, after it completes booting up and after it connects to the internet
If someone tell me of it's good for streaming and playing games?
Depends how many devises there are and how close you are ti the router
So does this give out WiFi? Or do you need a router?
This device converts your internet connection into wifi
This IS a router that we are talking about.
Do I have to have it plugged in to a router?
This is a router. You need to plug it into a modem or box that your internet provider has installed
ReviewLamp so I NEED to have a WIRLESS router plugged in to something
