Maytag Dishwasher water test

This is a 1991 Maytag portable dishwasher I bought yesterday and I'm water testing it... with the door open!

i think i have a similar model, bought for 50 dollars. I need to know how to make it run with door open, so I can check the pump motor, it does not drain.
