Thanks for treating the chained up animals with respect and attempting to raise awareness for them. So many young adults would use these animals for pleasure but the Delos crew showed real compassion. A real demonstration of class. Good job guys!

There is one thing to be said for Delos episodes. I view them as a travel documentary, which covers some of the most beautiful places in the world. However they never sugar coat it and always show everything as it is, warts and all. If you were intending to holiday in Thailand and booked a holiday on the basis of some glossy tourist brochures showing the "unspoilt beaches" and the "clear blue skies".... then you would be in for a rude shock. In any case, thanks for keeping it real Delos crew and keep them coming, fair winds.
Love to see the Big Buddha when approaching Phuket by boat, especially at night from the west. What an epic scene. Miss that place a lot, even though it has pingpong shows and chained up animals.

Eventually- ABSOLUTELY! We will be spending a few years in the Caribbean sailing and gaining experience so that when we cross the Pacific it will be safe. We have sold all that we own and live aboard full-time so we won't be doing anything else for the next 10-20 years.
Please don't suggest it to my wife. I barely talked her out of a wallaby. She checked dan they can be obtained for $2k. She says it probably wouldn't work out because they don't have a sphynkster and it would be too much to clean up after. LOL. I am not kidding.

The Elephant was heartbreaking....Seeing this one day after seeing a news story about beach goers in Argentina taking a baby dolphin from the water and taking selfies with it until it died.....People sometimes suck so bad.... Brings back memories. I saw the "Le Meridien" shuttle bus at 17:40 and then I realized you were near to where I was with my wife on vacation in 1995 at the Hotel Le Meridien only 9 minutes away with a private beach and peace and quiet. We ventured into Patong for one evening. That was enough for us! As far as the elephant is concerned, it is amazing that even among the peaceful Thai's, there are a few bad apples that would treat animals like this--really a shame.

Other Vloggers traveling in SE Asia have revently learned about avoiding the old mainstay tourist traps like riding elephants. As people get to randomly vlog the cruelty required to corral and "train" (torture???) animals larger than us like elephants or dolphins, or whales, in order to force them to do "cute" stuff for us. Vlogging is helping everybody worldwide become aware of this kind of thing. Well done, Jeff, Brian, and Brady!!

Awesome video as always guys. Im surprised you didn't cop some flack for your Delos Buddha and jib image. A few spots in Thailand I have been had big signs saying they found it offensive to have tattoos of buddha etc. I have ridden an elephant in thailand, but not with one of those terrible baskets, we spent the day with a Karen village who's elephants roamed the jungle, no chains. The mahoots did not use hooks or any of that crap - voice only - we were there for 12 hours, no aggression or those stress signs you saw with that poor guys chained up.
Every video from this channel is of great quality but you have out done yourself this is the best one yet. Fair winds delos crew keep up the great work subscriber for life.

I know my posting this comment is quite late.. But I've just recently discovered the SV Delos - UA-cam. What an amazing voyage and journey ship & crew had back then. For the most part - I believe Brian, Karen & crew have been thankful and shown their gratitude - as to how blessed they were to have had the opportunity to "cruise" the oceans. However, I was a little surprised and disappointed - when they decided to engage with the chained Monkey's and again with the chained Elephant. Brady's comments on how sad it is for animals to be chained - were over shadowed by their video - showing them being amused by having the Monkeys on his back, or their amusement of feeding the Elephant peanuts.
Best video yet. Good idea about selling your whiskey ??. I saw the same thing with loin cubs in Cabo Mexico. Tours would pay to have there picture taken with them. Sad to think what happens to them when they get to big to handle. Again great video.

Other Vloggers traveling in SE Asia have revently learned about avoiding the old mainstay tourist traps like riding elephants. As people get to randomly vlog the cruelty required to corral and "train" (torture???) animals larger than us like elephants or dolphins, or whales, in order to force them to do "cute" stuff for us. Vlogging is helping everybody worldwide become aware of this kind of thing.

Jeff's guilt about the monkey "attack" was funny, it indicates that he is a good guy.
The elephant part was really sad! The head bobbing is a known and well documented sign of severe stress in elephants that are chained up.
OMG, such a good video, love thailand, but ive been dieing to see the indian ocean crossing... IDK if anyone else feels the same way, but seeing that you're in south africa right now but the videos are still in thailand is killing me. Awesome video as always guys. Im surprised you didn't cop some flack for your Delos Buddha and jib image. A few spots in Thailand I have been had big signs saying they found it offensive to have tattoos of buddha etc.
I have ridden an elephant in thailand, but not with one of those terrible baskets, we spent the day with a Karen village who's elephants roamed the jungle, no chains. The mahoots did not use hooks or any of that crap - voice only - we were there for 12 hours, no aggression or those stress signs you saw with that poor guys chained up.
Every video from this channel is of great quality but you have out done yourself this is the best one yet. Fair winds delos crew keep up the great work subscriber for life.

awesome vid. in the future would like to see more time-lapse footage and if possible some drone shots at sea especially at sunset or with approaching weather. enjoy the butter chicken and naan bread in india. the head massages are pretty good too.

I know my posting this comment is quite late.. But I've just recently discovered the SV Delos - UA-cam. What an amazing voyage and journey ship & crew had back then. For the most part - I believe Brian, Karen & crew have been thankful and shown their gratitude - as to how blessed they were to have had the opportunity to "cruise" the oceans. However, I was a little surprised and disappointed - when they decided to engage with the chained Monkey's and again with the chained Elephant. Brady's comments on how sad it is for animals to be chained - were over shadowed by their video - showing them being amused by having the Monkeys on his back, or their amusement of feeding the Elephant peanuts.
Don’t be too sanctimonious...we don’t all have to conform to your purity standards...

Best video yet. Good idea about selling your whiskey ??. I saw the same thing with loin cubs in Cabo Mexico. Tours would pay to have there picture taken with them. Sad to think what happens to them when they get to big to handle. Again great video.
