To avoid bleeding, as on the wheels, after masking for the black paint respray the base silver paint over the masking tape. Let the silver dry, then spray the black - no bleeding.
I have a 1981 MGB GT (yes you read that right, 1981, even though the factory closed in 1980!). After the factory in Abingdon CLOSED down in 1980, all the remaining MGB GT parts were shipped to British Leyland in South Africa as CKD (Completely Knocked Down), where only 200 was ever built from imported CKD kits.
40 years ago as a trendy 20 year old I had a Triumph Herald. Not just a standard Herald but a 1275Gt. It must have produced all of 69 horse power but i thought i was the bees knees. It also had a cloth sun roof. I felt even cooler when I perfected the technique of driving along and reaching up one handed to flip and slid this roof open.........until the day I was driving along the M5 and I reached up to slide it open only to watch in the rear view mirror the whole roof, frame and all, bouncing along the road behind me. I never did get it straightened out after that. (however I often wish I still had my Herald)
For the money they spent on cans they could have bought a proper spray gun. They must have a compressor. Then they would be able to do a decent job on numerous cars.
Yep, did it a couple of times many decades ago. Started off as a little touch-up but spread. Spray guns and compressors were extremely expensive in those days (60’s and 70’s) so rattle cans were a cheap option for a one off or two off situation. Nowadays all that gear is quite cheap.
We had two in our family which was a 67 and 71 with chrome bumpers and wire wheels . Im not a lover of those bumpers or wheels. Im quite sure this project took more than 5 days to complete ! .. Both of you make Mike and Ed look amateur. Thanks again.
I had a 1974 Harvest Gold MGB GT, it was like a family member, finally sold it to someone who was going to restore it, but they painted the car red and added wire wheels and a air dam!
Hi Will & Gus, erm all that banging & cutting wouldn't it be good using some ear plugs not clumsy ear muffs? sorry to mention this as my former mechanic who also doubles up as panel beaters now can hardly hear and now have to wear hearing aids which do not doubles up as ear protectors. So that my take on this but a job well done !! thanks for the upload.
It really isn't difficult to feel under the sills and get an idea how rusty they are....but they actually take the time to go and view the car without checking underneath. You can take photos with your phone that will tell you enough.....btw a professional welder is £50 an hour because they can seam weld tidily. Why waste money on LED bulbs, nobody drives an MGB fast at night....
They drive all that way in a Tonka truck and can't put a trolley jack in the car. Who gives a fig about a $10 AliExpress LED kit? Certainly not a selling point when the MG specialist keeps saying "keep it original"
@@lexus5011 yes but these are posted by someone private, not a tv channel, and I assumed he had most episodes, if not all. he did actually post the Z3 ep in the meanwhile.
I don't understand why you don't put cars on hoists before you buy them. UK cars are known to rust!! Anything more than 10 years old is sure to be a shed. With margins so tight, why don't you at least carry mirrors on lingerie handles so that you can see under each car??
I’m amazed someone hasn’t lost their mind bidding on a car that has a small sunroof then show up to a car that has a massive canvas cover???😂 Still love the show but these guts have the sales part all wrong!
English cars, driven in England. Rust and ..Rust....Pain in the back so you don't look below....it won't make any money if you don't earn well on youtube....
Explain why you didn't scrap this when underneath was so bad as well as the body Yet the Alfa had a perfect body Your decisions leave much to be desired Becoming disappointed with this series, when I could rather watch Wheeler dealers
What a battle this one was! Two brave men.

Done a bloody great job
"If you break'em, then they're broken..." I shall never forget that...
In the time you give the car looks very good well done guys👍

Somerset .. my Place of Birth :) Miss it!
Plus, easy to drive it half up the trailer ramp and spot that rust - yes it’s a TV show, but show the rust and say you are taking it on 🥳
Can't believe that you would consider repainting an entire car body with rattle cans.
For the money they spent on cans they could have bought a proper spray gun. They must have a compressor. Then they would be able to do a decent job on numerous cars.
"Light surface rust" "seems reasonably solid underneath"? Not from where I was standing.

when looking at old cars why not use the trailer ramp to look underneath, just a thought great program
Brilliant.
Yeah but then people would miss out on all the drama that comes when they realise they bought a lemon :P Drama gets the views haha
RUST NEVER SLEEPES
It's junk. They would have got more views and money if they just blew it up, Clarkson style.

Ginger says "light surface rust". Hilarious. Any dope can see it's riddled with rust.
The V8 was the GT to get!
Get a sandblast cabinet not a lot cash saves a lot of wirebrusing .

Muffs cut more noise than plugs but anything is better than nothing.
I know I'm paying the price.
That is a top bodge. thank god nobody i like bought it. Cowboys live in Texas

Bring a set of ramps when you check out cars that have been off the road that’s all I have to say
They had them, ie the trailer … too fake that surprise rust 😂
Good job on the GT chaps. Maybe a 924 next?
S01 ep01
How sticky was your floor after painting inside? :)
LED conversion - wait until you get an MOT fail - illegal in the UK
No corrosion protection on the roof after cutting😮
Watch n learn 😂😂😂😂
Z3, please!
this is a minimum 4 year old show unfortunatley

Can't you put you tea down like a gentleman? What will grandma say?
Rattle cans, really 🤔
I like it when the ugly bumpers are painted body colour.

That car is a pile of junk! Terminal rust cancer, which will come back in a few weeks. They were bad when new even.
This is disgusting sorry guys...
I know it only for a laugh this show, but have they ever heard of a mirror on a telescopic stick. Check under the cars
