    The best way to get extra value out of this set is probably to display it up against a mirror. That completes the look of the pyramid, and the doubled shore won’t be easy to see.

    It would be really cool if they did an ancient wonders of the world architechture subtheme. Imagine getting the Collosus of Rhodes or Hanging Gardens of Babylon

    • @Nykut7
      @Nykut7 2 роки тому +12

      For the Collosus, they should propose two builds : the legendary one, with legs spread so ships pass under, and the realistic one, just standing next to the entrance of the port.

    • @CraftsmanOfAwsomenes
      @CraftsmanOfAwsomenes 2 роки тому +3

      I would not appreciate that because there’s a 100% chance they’d get the colossus wrong as described because most artistic depictions do.

    • @CraftsmanOfAwsomenes

      Hanging gardens is kind of a stretch since they kind of have to make up the design and surroundings because we don’t know what they looked like, where they really were, or if they existed as described.

    I really appreciate that in every video where there's quality issues, you explain why it's reasonable to demand better. LEGO really does cost crazy money and its ridiculous that anyone would excuse less than perfect production.

    I'm conflicted on the half pyramid decision. On the one hand, being half a pyramid makes it much easier to display and cheaper. On the other hand, it's a $130 set for half a building. Ultimately, I would rather pay that price for what we got as opposed to a full pyramid without the canal and additional buildings.

  • @real.ilya_remov

    As an architect, the design of this set is amazing, but as an architect, it's also too expensive.
    The choice for a half pyramid is very smart. better (for the price, allows the section view, less space to display, and also we don't need to see the entire thing, we know it's a pyramid and flat on each side)

  • @GloofiE
    @GloofiE 2 роки тому +43

    Another option for display (which would still require some extra parts to extend the base) would be using the outer case on the opposite end of the work-in-progress portion to give the illusion of a full pyramid while also displaying the progression of its construction.

  • @pewpewdragon4483
    @pewpewdragon4483 2 роки тому +6

    As it is, I think I can argue for the half pyramid because it places the entrance of the structure at the center of the display, and the side structures are actually doing a lot of work in terms of framing the pyramid into its environment and giving it scale. The river may be inaccurate with its proximity, but I think this is an artistic choice meant to give more contrast to an otherwise bland colour scheme. There's definitely no argument that it is in fact not a complete pyramid, which is unfortunate, but I don't think it's as much of a negative thing as it might seem initially. It looks great as a display in my opinion, the price is high though, and I reckon $20 to maybe even up to $30 could be saved if it didn't have the extra internal details. But then again, it might feel lacking to have a hollow facade when you put it together.

  • @rokushou

    I can understand the argument for half a pyramid since it's meant to be a display piece, you'd hardly ever see the back. Plus I think the details in the front section are way more interesting than the pyramid itself.

    I love everything EGYPTIAN so I'm definitely getting this especially the history of their empires and mythology a must have. The Nile inclusion is a great bonus with that solid building layered depth building technique and the mini boats have some clever parts usage like micro builds but have never really gotten into them but these wonders of the world sub theme are very appealing hope they make Hanging Gardens of Babaylon or even a more stylised Mount Olympus would be cool.
    I'll be putting it right against the wall don't necessarily need a full pyramid as the illusion is created but would have preferred a full one with a more detailed interior with some booby traps love the other buildings included with the spire/tower and sphinxes and the overall foliage looks like a cracking build.

    I've never been big into Lego, but I just recently saw this set in my local department store. And being an African-American with a strong interest in the Motherland, I made the immediate decision to make this my first major Lego purchase. And I completely agree with your assessment; they should have given us a full pyramid for the price.
    But what strikes me is really odd, is that they never followed up on the idea of selling half of a pyramid even though they gave us the option of adding onto it. In the year or more that this set has apparently existed, I know that they've heard the feedback of people who would love to have a back-end to the structure. And the fact that they never released an adjoining set that (instead of displaying the river and the two smaller familial pyramids) has more foliage, buildings to suggest the city beyond and a cart or two along a road. Maybe even a camel.
    Money is the great motivator. So I don't imagine that they left this idea on the cutting-room floor lightly seeing as how collectors and enthusiasts would find a way to afford it.
    I wonder why I never happened.

    I think you need 1 and a half sets to at least add in the back of the pyramid and then use the left-over parts to simply landscape the terrain but without a second river. However you could use two full sets to build a complete pyramid and a much wider river with perhaps some sandy islands and vegetation.

    I think I'd agree with the smaller-scale full pyramid if they also put in a little gimmick like the removable outer shell and the interior tunnels. For me, those things not only add to the sort of "hey fun fact!" display factor when showing to friends, but also really really make the build experience more enjoyable, especially with a relatively simple main build here.

    Very good video cinematography compared to many other UA-cam reviews on this Lego Giza Pyramid. Thanks!
    Historical accuracy is there a little bit as the workers village was there during building the Pyramid like in a 3 month rotation shifts. Workers stayed there during that time in that village while building. The Sphinx and the Pier and other finished structures, might not have been there during Pyramid building process and done at the end though.
    To be historically accurate, maybe should also remove the top of the small pyramids and strip down the entrance path and pier a bit. Overall great.

You could easily do custom stuff (probably have to supply your own plates for the base) to have the full pyramid, and extending the shore down, as well as having the third queen's pyramid. I was just thinking while watching the video how it could be done.

    They should have also had axle holes between the pyramid and the terrain, so you could buy another set, easily just take off the terrain half and then you’d have some terrain, a full pyramid, and some spare parts. They could’ve even gone as far to make an alternate terrain build using the leftover parts. Oh well.

    This set really needed an alternate build so it could be the front side or the back side of the pyramid. Yes, that would likely mean a higher piece count, and more leftover pieces which would make the value feel wrong (particularly for the average buyer) but it would have made the set much better and likely would have encouraged more people to buy two. As it stands, I can't see any reason that you would buy two of this set to connect together unless you are an avid lego fan and an experienced customiser. And even then, the value isn't great given the number of additional pieces you would need to order to actually customise the back side of the thing.
