Moto G Play Sound Not Working-Easiest Solutions

- In this video, I go over the basics of a Moto G Play smartphone with sound that is not working. If you are not hearing any sound from your Moto G phone, then this is the video for you. I go over some of the easiest solutions that you can come across that will hopefully allow you to get your audio sound and notification sounds working again. At the end of the day, it can be a speaker problem, but we're hoping that it is just a settings problem because those are much easier to diagnose and fix in order to get the sound working again in a timely manner.

Thank you! I have a Moto G Stylus 2021 and the alarm wasn't going off. You solved my problem about one minute into your video. I just realized there is a separate volume setting for alarms and it accidentally was lowered. This phone seems to have so many more glitches than any other phone I ever had. Things "accidentally" seem to get messed up on a regular basis. I am so thankful for videos like yours!
Thank you. I didn't realize the Bluetooth speaker in my car would read as a headset. So that's why it's been adjusting my volume down when I listen to my phone out of the car
Thank you. As a relatively new smartphone owner I have little experience, and couldn't figure this seemingly-simple issue out! I just wasn't getting sound from any media even though I've heard it before, and I kept wondering "how effing complex could this be?" I noticed when I'd press the volume buttons I would see a strange grayed-out interface appear, not the usual slider and the musical note. I explored the menus, found a weird display in the media section which either looked like the volume was totally OFF or full volume, depending when I looked, but it was _unchangeable._
I got to your second suggestion: the "hard reset." But not knowing what that does I just restarted the normal way and that did it. I could suddenly see the normal volume interface and my sound is back. I should've known from many years of computer experience that we're not just dealing with hardware, but also with _software and firmware._ Restart to the rescue once again. Thanks, man!
I can't hear the audio of your video in order to fix my sound. You either need to have text (or include the closed caption option)
fix for me was to first dry Qtip with most of the cotton taken off in the aux port. Then a different clean Qtip with a bit of alcohol. very gentle. Works very nicely now...ty..

Thanks. Plugging and unplugging 3.5mm headphones allowed my speaker to work again. I will keep that in mind.

My phone is fine with music via Bluetooth headphones fine when listening through the phone speaker but when I use aux connection for the car or to connect my phone to my amplifier it's REALLY muffled and sounds terrible. This was never a problem before but seems to have started ..today. my poweramp trial ran out so I purchased the full version of the player today too not sure if this is related? Any help would be super appreciated. Just sounds really muffled and underwater-y. I've tried another aux lead as well as a pair of cheap wires earphones and the problem is there with all three so I'm confident that it's the phone and not the cables themselves. Hmm.
So the suggestions in the comments worked great. I disconnected my earbuds and got my volume back.

How can I get the sound to be louder through the headphone jack opposed to Bluetooth for lossless audio? For whatever reason it’s louder through Bluetooth and mid level to quiet through the headphone jack which is head scratchingly annoying when compared to iPod 7s headphone jack which is 3x as loud. I’m not fluent whatsoever on Android and any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you plug in the charger while pressing volume down then release volume down? How about what happens when you hold power and volume up? Also can you do a tutorial on the entire page that pops up when you press volume down and power?
Great! I plugged in wired earphones, then removed them and the sound came back straight away.

Idk but If you reset option like at end of video it will come on it safe mode & have to restart to go normal mode

While watching this video I desperately blew into my speaker and ports like an old Nintendo cartridge and it worked again after 3 weeks of no sound. I'm gonna say this video, if not informative, is lucky asf. I can assure you I tried previously and it didn't work then 🤣

@@Brunhaam Sounds crazy but I sucked on the top of the phone where my speaker was and it's actually working better than it was before I think something was blocking the speaker hope this helps
@@goatgod8038 the sucking thing only temporarily restored the sound and goes away the second I stopped lol. New phone time maybe.

t/hanks , I had interupted charging ,due to the fact that charger module was not plungged into the outlet creating a on and off charge , tripping it to a mute on sound . my media would not sound but I had Phone sound , I even went to all the settings and the volumes were ok, but I viewed this video and found the mute icon and back to normal.

Nope! Sound still is not working!!! Before anyone asks. No it was not dropped in any kind of liquid. It just stopped working after receiving and yea the sound works on the head phones.
Everyone who is confused in his video because they can't hear the sound all you have to do is reset your phone by holding the power button and then wait for it to turn back on and the sound will work

Try going into the sound settings in the settings app and cleaning out the speaker at the top of your phone
Oh, bugger. Mine says the sound is off because the headphones are plugged in. But they're not. I have no headphones at all. ;D Except of the bluetooth set. So I am afraid I can't try the plug in - unplug trick. I guess it would work.

I lost sounds to only one game airport city after moto updates got any solution for this
I checked the Bluetooth settings after exhausting all other options. I had not utilized the Bluetooth setting menu before this happened but found that the sound system in my RV parked outside was active causing no audio from the phone. I hadn't even been in the RV for days and the sound system WAS NOT EVEN ON!!! I have no idea how this could happen but after disconnecting it I got my sound back on the phone. I swear, ghosts in the machines.

My husband took my phone to look for that one hidden button I once found that turned everything off, I was going to try your idea to turn off & on the power, but he found the problem that somehhow mute was on in the settings. I don't think I ever would have touched that.
The damn thing only plays audio out of the right/lower speaker and I can't figure out what is causing it

The wired earbuds receive sound OK but the other person can hardly hear me. Seems there's no sensitivity in the wired mic at all!
Tried different sets of hands free wire earbuds with no luck.

No, I haven't unfortunately..
I have come to the conclusion that the actual socket on the phone is faulty. The reason is, my earbuds work perfectly well with my second phone.
So, it's not software issue. The socket has to be replaced. The funny thing is, for music and just listening Y.T. it works fine, it seems only the microphone not connecting properly.
My audio goes to mute automatically then I have to increase the volume once and then it comes back to the same level. Help me

My sound wasn't working and turned out to be the Bluetooth connected to my car speakers in my garage. Disconnected Bluetooth to get the phone speaker back on. Lol.

My Moto G Play loud speaker just malfunctioned, with lower volume and crackly, in the middle of a video. Now all audio & video sound from the loudspeaker is lower and crackly. The earpiece speaker and external speaker jack works fine. 1.3 GB memory free.
Just did a Power / Vol Up hard restart and same problem. Did a reboot into Safe Mode and same problem. Also the "Hello Moto" typical at the beginning is now not heard at all.
I don't know what happened, but now the loudspeaker works fine. I will try rebooting and hopefully I'll hear Hello Moto.

If I put my phone in vibrate mode the notification will not vibrate to make me aware I got a new notification and the option to change the settings to it is grayed out. Someone please help

Here's another way if you have a different Moto phone first go to do not disturb and it might say do not disturb / camera and if it's like that then turn it off you're welcome pin me right now
