- There's more traffic than ever across America's roads, and one man is saying the country needs to get smart. Sam Schwartz is a renowned traffic engineer; he actually coined the term "gridlock." Inside Edition set up a series of demonstrations to illustrate how traffic jams form and how drivers can avoid them. In one demonstration, an accident blocked the road, forcing the driver of our vehicle is forced to merge. The result was a chaotic mess as drivers fight with each other over who goes first. #InsideEdition
I think everyone knows that moment when a guy is weaving through traffic and you pull up next to him at a red light thinking, “was that really worth it?”

Maybe you dont want to stuck behind the person going 10 under in the left lane and wont move cuz they gotta turn at some point or even worse on the highways...there more worried about the move over law then when it states in the second sentence that if you cant move over then slow down and pass accordingly but that's right no one wants to follow the simple rules so why follow any of them.
What messes up traffic here is morons in Toyota’s going under the speeding limit on the left lane.

In a traffic jam i use the middle lanes because in the right lanes sometimes there’s traffic lined up to take an exit and the left side everyone think is faster so everyone goes there so the middle for me is the fastes way for a traffic jam

I leave for work between 4:45-5:30am depending on my schedule. Some days I’m off work by noon avoiding every morning and most evening rush hours.

I’m getting my permit soon but I practice in non busy streets. I would drive on the highway once I’m 18. I’m 16 right now practicing and I understand that you need to be logical when driving. I completely understand the difference between a car and a go cart. Also driving is fun you just have to follow the rules!

I do not use the horns in a traffic jam because why would I? Horns users please don't exist
People get distracted with their phone as soon as they stop, the horn helps to let them know they should move

I always avoid prime traffic time. Morning work, lunch, and evening returning home. Plus I try hard to stay off the interstates if possible.
We should post a thing called a minimum speed limit, meaning nobody can go below that speed, and that can help reduce traffic jams
My number one complaint when im driving when im merging some people try to force me to take the next exit because they don't let you merg on the highway when i see someone with the signal light on trying to merg on i back up and let that person in and yes i sean people slice lanes right infront of me making me breack and i sean people talegating so close i barely see the license plate that freaks me out including bigger vehicles and ad something i sean people texting and on the phone while driving common sense don't exist now a days and it frustrating me it just sucks yes i dealt with road rage to for no reason

Every time someone hits their brakes I switch lanes and it makes it look like I am weaving.
It's shocking how many people I see daily who still believe, after many years of driving, that constantly shifting lanes to whichever one happens to be moving faster at that particular moment in time is the fastest way to reach your destination. As a nineteen-year-old, I've come to realize that staying in the lane that is most _stable_ (that is, moving faster on average and has fewer periods of extreme slow-downs and speed-ups) will typically place you in front of the people who constantly shift between lanes. I should also note here that the "most stable" lane does change periodically, so changing lanes once in a while often helps if you're aware of what's going on.
Note: This theory exclusively applies to moderately heavy traffic. In light traffic speeding and shifting lanes frequently will very likely place you significantly ahead of everybody else.
Can’t believe people don’t know the zippering technique for merging. Like. Is that just not something people should genuinely know about the rules of the road?
Move to another City or another area where there isn't traffic. Areas need to install extra roads to relieve congestion. The DOT should check possible extra highways around those areas. Install exits.

My mom taught me how to drive, i take a very conservative approach, no speeding, no lane changing every 10 seconds, no tailgating. Ironically, it is i who now wants to teach my mom how to drive because she drives the exact opposite of me, she's an aggressive driver and it's not right.
In a perfect world, cars will have no brakes. They'll just coast to a stop.

Some people have a reason for speeding. Not that I am defending them or anything because I’m not, but once I was driving somewhere and a lady was speeding everywhere. I was by here for a while, and then she pulled into the hospital. I felt really bad.
