That's a truly epic-looking Chaplain conversion! When using our paints, we always recommend sealing the model before using any potentially abrasive materials on top of it, such as mineral spirits, to avoid any damage to the paints underneath.
Absolutely! I think I mentioned it in the video. I must say im totally impressed by the paints! There wonderful and would love to get hold of some more! By far best paints ive used 👌🏻👌🏻
@TheArmyPainter I've had a similar issue when using contrast paints and your washes over your Fanatic paints, it is reactivating and flaking away, same for the metallics. I tried Blood Red Speedpaint over Gun Metal and the metallic just came away. I assume I'm doing something wrong , do I need to seal them before washing acrylic? Fine if so but just wanted to know how these paints are supposed to behave or maybe I have a bad batch of them? Many thanks.
Also, I want to say that your videos are amazing and worth the wait. Your videos along with guys like Maverick Paints are one of the reasons why I want to learn to paint in the Grimdark style. Please, keep up the great work.
I experienced the same thing with the AP fanatics and mineral spirits! It was my first time using oils, so I thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks for the heads up, I'll varnish before oiling next time
Since finding your channel I have become obsessed with the Grimdark style which made me want to start collecting Dark Angels again. Keep up your fantastic work
another slammer, Chaplain time aswell! oof! They dont get enough love for my liking! That kit-bash is absolute fire mate. . . never really tried much kit-bashing before but i'm definitely gonna give it a whirl, the results you get are amazing, I was never really interested in Grimdark until I joined your channel either... total game changer!
Absolutely stunning Video 😍 All of your videos brought me back into painting my Dark Angels. I'd love to see a video of your painted Lion El' Jonhson, please 👏
Actually, I just experienced the same issue between my Army Painter paints and Goon’s Grime. I was working on models that painted weeks ago along bases that I was still painting up at the time I applied the wash. The models I completed weeks ago had no reaction to the Enamel Wash....The bases on the other hand looked like I had put paint stripper on them. I believe their paints needs fully dry and cure before applying the Enamel Wash.
Liking the video before even watching it! Also, I have painted my very first set of space marines using one of your tutorials, and I couldn't believe how good it turned out! Thanks man! Thanks for getting me into the hobby!
Wonderful video again! Already checked out the new guide on the compendium, awesome! Lot's going on over there with the new launch. Can't wait to get my Phase 2 set! Stay safe!
Marines returning to their chapter, after serving in the watch, are permitted to retain their DW pauldron and wear it on their right shoulder. So it's fine.
Very nice tutorial mate! Just wondering if you dilute your paints using water or mineral spirits? Could you also show us your palette sometimes when you're diluting paints? Awesome video and keep up the good work!
Acrylics are with water. Enamels are with mineral spirits. I dont do a pallet cam as i find then not usful. Each paint from differnt brands thin differnt and have different pigments. So its impossible for a person to see how there thinned if that makes sense. Big thanks for kind words! Means alot!
Absolutely amazing job! I'm not always the biggest fan of Grimdark but this conversation really sells it well! Some incredible techniques, especially for the leather areas! If you dont mind me asking, what was the tool you used to make the scratches?
So great man! Fully intending to use your nids guide as I look to get back into the hobby after a decade out. Hope you're health is on the up! Are you a fellow Yorkshire man by chance? God speed to you.
Love your content and painting style. Technical question: I have found that Villainy Inks (especially Ichor of the Damned and Goon's Grime) have the tendency to cause an unwanted sheen after appliction, which is especially annyoing on things that are supposed to be matte, like cloth. Do the enamels become more or less shiny when using odorless spirits to thin them? I use AK Interactive for that. Not sure whether I should use the Villainy Inks straight out of the bottle (might be overkill for some applictions) or thinned 1:1. I just want to avoid that sheen.
Hay man! So ichor of the damned is sposed to dry satin/gloss. Also goons grime should dry matt. What batch do u have? Is it the one with pepet or one with a dropper? If one with pepet then u have an older bath that has since changed. In that case contact gdc and see if they can help u with a swop or advice. But some tips is, shake well! I use a vortex mixer. Mix 1:1 with mineral spirits or even apply neat for darker or stronger tone. U can thin it more to make more matt/chalky For more tips be sure to check out there resources page. Its full of awesome tips
Nice piece Nate and grats on the new series. Leaving Witch City (Salem, MA) for a larger ranch in NH.....no painting for a while, as my studio is in storage-the upside is I have an actual separate woodworkers shop that I can gut and convert. Ordered the new tester kit, but probably won't even crack it open until after the holidays. x
@@TheFeralPainter Thanks brother. I had this house for 13 years and thought it was a final destination scenario.....this is really a nice upgrade, but monumental project. I'll shoot you a pic of my new set up....whenever the hell I can get things together. The crazy thing is that this guy was a professional level woodworker, so the shop is set up with all this serious ventilation and dust collection; I can legit set up my full airbrush station, and a few digital printers without borderline poisoning myself. Lot of work and I'm going to pay out the ass to get it done...but this will be slick and hold me til I croak, heh. x
Amazing-looking miniature. I am sorry to hear you have received abuse from a couple of creatures, who have no basic manners. They probably wouldn't speak to someone like that in real life, but behind a computer screen, they forget the person they are talking to is human and has feelings. Keep on doing your thing, when it's convenient for you to do so, the people who appreciate and respect what you do, will understand. 🙂
@TheFeralPainter, Question, dose he have a gem in his forehead or is that just grime from all the layers you put on? To be honest you put so many layers on that you turned all the colors including the metallics either brown or tan except the reds. I think it makes the model less noticeable and a little too drab. Sorry just being honest.
@@TheFeralPainter I hope you don't take it personally. Your stuff is still awesome, that's why I subscribed. I have severe diabetic nephropathy and my nerves are not what they used to be when I used to paint models back in my college days. I'm just kinda picky when I see things. I’m more of a “weather/texture stuff by painting the wear/texture” instead of doing it with physical effects. Painted weathering can be exaggerated so it reads well from afar. Other than that, excellent work!
Damn man. The work is great as always, but why record a video while you're sick, you can overexert your ligaments and lose your voice for a while. And this treatment costs a lot of money
appreciate your concerns, however I'm on the mend, I just sound a little voice crack now and again. Mainly mentioned it so usual viewers don't worry or get upset. Thanks again for your kind comments hope you enjoyed the video!

Oh man, putting the deathwatch shoulder on the right always sets off my autism lol
😂 apologies im not 100% on the lore
Yeah, it's always in the left. But since you used it for its aesthetic instead of making him a veteran of the deathwatch, it's fine.
I thought of a solution:look at it through a mirror.
Marines returning to their chapter, after serving in the watch, are permitted to retain their DW pauldron and wear it on their right shoulder. So it's fine.
