This is a perfect example of a person who doesn't just practice "licks" over and over. Armenteros isn't running out of ideas, he's exploring. The whole group is inventing on the spot and it's truly beautiful.
They are/he is playing over "Rhythm" changes; he's just playing. Sometimes, one practices licks by oneself to get the hang of the dexterity it takes to play in that bebop style, as well as practicing other things. He's playing with two other people and practicing phrases and "licks" and exploring over "Rhythm", blues, "Cherokee" changes in an apartment, that's how you're suppose to do it, you are suppose to practice licks in phrases with your friends in whatever or whomever's living space. Why are you making your point so complicated?
This is an awesome trio; I don't miss the piano at all. The drummer's brush work swings hard, the bass is solid, and the sax player has a ton of ideas and plays leaves a lot of space between ideas.
Yeah-listening to each other and adjusting-the key! The ending-great-We play music-it is called playing! I´m 75 and playing since i was 10. The fun never stops. I receive so many good feelings from young people experiencing the same joy and sense of achievement attained from the discipline it takes to receive the gift.
So intensely committed to the music they failed to spot - about 2.08 someone dropped in to ransack their cupboards. Now that's what I call musical dedication. And most enjoyable it was too!
I read all the comments and not one negative comment. You guys are the musicians they spoke about in Bill and Teds excellent adventure that would bring harmony to the world. Look it up.😢
This fills me with joy to see young men playing their socks off like this.... It tells me they are totally dedicated and are carrying the spirit of jazz into the new age, bravo to all three of you.
Metello Bonanno they’re pretty much the same, and the differences they do have (hard bop being more rehearsed, having more blues and soul influence) aren’t really on display here. Listen to the rhythm and what’s really being played.
I want to compliment the tight-knit band, but I died when the guy started digging in the cupboard. The drummer was probably thinking "Is he going for the hot sauce?"
I love the little hi hat and bass comps during head. I can definitely tell the influence of sonny on the sax player. Great time and feel, you guys swing really hard
I came for the tune, I stayed for the Cholula. You guys sound fantastic. I learned Oleo a few months ago, but my old hands can't go that fast anymore :D
For micing using only a phone, I would have the bass and the sax switch places. Those low frequencies really won't travel that far enough through the air to the phone mic. Loved the playing btw guys
Can jazz become viral on UA-cam. Great tone, I liker that brought tone Sonny had in early slumps, he has changed his playing times a few times. I have lost touch with what is hot in jazz these days.

@@skineyemin4276 i mean to be fair you made you're replay way more complimented but i see what you mean
But he transposes perfectly the melodies , so not out of link approach. Nobody "esplores" at 300.
Way to be negative with a compliment
@@Thouveninpascal these cats explore where you asplode!
Other than the sax playing which is fire, the Cholula is also kinda bomb. respect for having that sauce in your house.
If it ain't the green it ain't shit. If I'm going red its tapatio all day
They ALLL GOTZ "SAUCE".... all Tree!!!!
Cholula is the real shit 🔥
Spice
Mad respect for the bassist. I can only imagine the hand cramps.
I was looking for some appreciation for him. Holy shit he must have strong tendons.
With the way his hands are spazzing out ya think?

Thanks so much!
a really fun pianist takes the group to whole new level
Many great saxplayers don't want the piano in their trio's, like Sonny himself of Ornette..It gives more freedom

Jazz will never die when people like you exist
That drummer slayed it! Someone has their rudiments down to a tee
my favorite 🥁 nowadays
He's like a reincarnated post-bop era drummer, superb!
I’m a drummer, I wish I were this good.
What's crazy is he isn't really "shredding," he's just playing simple ideas in the right context. Makes me wanna practice!
Slayin' it again. I loved that the dude walks in, grabs a snack, walks out, and no one missed a beat. Cheers.
So intensely committed to the music they failed to spot - about 2.08 someone dropped in to ransack their cupboards. Now that's what I call musical dedication. And most enjoyable it was too!
That was the keyboard player, really pissed because they started without him and now there was no room in kitchen for him.
That was the avant garde part.
Jazz unites us all. Let's fill the world with love and jazz. Greetings from Siberia! Thank you, guys!
The tenor player has a great sound
What? great playing but AM sound. He's playing in a kitchen for god's sake. What kinda sound can you get?
Sonny Rollins comes to mind 😊
Trio is my favorite. Everybody gets a chance to shine...and this group totally does!
This is awesome...glad to see jazz is alive as it ever was. I love the ending!
Daaamn, do y'all live in the same house? Would be cool to have a whole quartet/quintet living under the same roof
check out The Main Squeeze on Instagram/music platforms. They're exactly that!
Brushes at that tempo is not easy. Good work.

when your college tells you that you HAVE to learn bebop or else you can't graduate
i really like how reddick drops the bomb on those kick hits. super satisfying. rios + reddick make a super locked in pair
Bebop? Oleo is a hard bop composition, for jazz's sake...

@@zrhrrs they're pretty much the same? There are huge differences
@@metellobonanno6274 Yeah, but, soloing over "Rhythm" changes convincingly is much more difficult. Anyone can learn the "head" ultimately.
i love the way this is filmed, almost looks like it could be a painting
Hey guys, thanks! Nice. Sonny has been my ultimate favorite since the 50's. I appreciate it!
Hot sauce, whiskey, and jazz. Have at it fellas!👊🏽
I want to compliment the tight-knit band, but I died when the guy started digging in the cupboard.
The drummer was probably thinking "Is he going for the hot sauce?"
America needs this, glad you fellas are taking part, you all really can go!
6:52 that bass note hahaha!
🥊
That note belongs to Mingus lol.
MORE SHARP 11
Outstanding....what jazz is about... not trying to copy what Sonny, Miles, etc did 70 years ago while still paying homage to their gift.
i love the guy walking in at 1:50 lol
Just fkn amazing. As a old gezzer who grew up on this. . . spot on.
I love the little hi hat and bass comps during head. I can definitely tell the influence of sonny on the sax player. Great time and feel, you guys swing really hard
Very fresh! Solid trio. Killer horn work. Bravo!
Guy in the background just casually making some lunch, I love it!
Ya man Fire glad to see young folks keeping good music alive would love to have yous a neighbors
I LOVE CHOLULA! Seriously--you guys kick serious ass! Loved this. Well done, friends.
Would love to see better mic setups with these. Audio quality would make things so much more.
Love it all!
It’s great to see youngsters keeping it alive
I'd pay to hear this trio any day!!! Keep doin what you do!!!!
I really love the way you guys had so much fun playing this legendary tune!!!!
I like that crab running down the strings of double bass))
These cats are driving! I loved playing this tune, but I never found cats to play it at this breakneck pace.
Random roomate getting food is a riot.
That bass player is just crushing this thing. GOOOOOOOOO!!! Ha.
Im tryna toast my bagel to this like homie in da back lol

Just came across you fellows....My hat is off to you and my feet and mind are moving....groove it,swing it...
ah yes, the legendary Cholula sessions...y'all beasts!
Great job!! Glad to hear that Bop is in excellent health and really good hands
Digarooney....
Extremely tight and competent playing, all the way around.
The Cat on "snacks" is especially kool.🙂
This is so insanely good.
This was perfect music to walk around to in downtown Hiroshima today :) thank you.
I wish this was my kitchen. I use that same hot sauce but it doesn’t make me feel like this. The real deal
Youngsta's! I'm impressed. Sonny Rollins and the Jazz community is probably impressed as well.
Wow! Well done guys! Yoi 've got tje groove!
Son unos monstruos!! El contrabajo vuela por dios 👏👏👏👏 felicitaciones 👏
Killed it! Solid performance. Looking forward to hearing more from you all
Ah music to my ears
I could listen to this all day :D
Ultrafast bop man that moves!
So much talent and skill.
i can escape my soul, listening to this! Great!
Dude is killing it!! Great!!!

Sounds fine! sounds natural I love it. If anything the bass could have simply used an amp which he isnt
when you are smilin
the whole world smiles with you
I need this on a playlist or something to play for my clients
So this was all sorts of amazing. You three do not fail to blow my mind each video!!!
I discovered y'all just now and y'all're some CATS! Hot stuff!
Simply AWESOME!!
O yeah man. That was awesome.
Fantastic! Just Keep Swinging!!
Well done lads..... keep the music alive!
1:51 did the tenor sax player just quote safe and sound? That's really cool I've never heard a quote of a pop song in a jazz context before
Listen to Sonny Rollins and Cedar Walton, quotes all over the place. I.E. if you know what your hearing.
no, he did not
Can jazz become viral on UA-cam.
Great tone, I liker that brought tone Sonny had in early slumps, he has changed his playing times a few times.

awesome walking bass line!
is actual? another "i got rhythm " changes tune.. thanks for such nice relaxed swinging version
Fantastic musicianship - y'all sound great!
We want more!
very nice. one might say sick even.
theoretically could be called dope or hot
Dude getting himself a poptart from the cupboard is classic.
Seriously though, good chops on a great tune.
bass player went craaaaazy
Jazz is alive
The guy cookin in the back fye
He has a lot of ornette in him. Excellent.
Hot solos all around
yes fellas - the college apt hit - sweet
love for the bass player
So much talent
beast....subbed and ringed the bell...much love from montreal
Glad to see young cats carrying the torch! 🔥🔥🔥 - stay strong 💪 stay blessed 🙏
Really nice!! All three of you guys were amazing!
Tag at the end is great
Shawn Lane loved this song❤️
this is bad ass i love it
Good playing!
I’d love if it if I could go to make myself a bit of grub and find myself dodging around a crack jazz trio! Top stuff boys!
WOW!!!
This is dope!
Sweet 🔥
A guy walks in and makes a sandwich behind these storming musicians. Jazz in America.
