I had one in 1972, and it was my favorite of all time - wonderful neck, radiused fretboard, fabulous tone and projection, and that crazy internal truss tube. I have one now I got on E-bay - but the body is beat... I'm planning to use the neck on a project guitar.
@@DylanPank71 Thank you, Dylan. That guitar was a gift from the gods, who dropped it in my lap via a Navy buddy who couldn't play it, but wanted a hundred cash to go drinking with - we settled on 70. I had it a year, and lost it on a military standby flight - the guitar got on the plane, but not me. It "disappeared" from baggage claim in Philly. United paid me 270 - but I'd much rather had the guitar - that one was special, compared to all the others of that model I've played since. I have an Eastwood Classic Twelve - semi-hollow, thin body and neck, dual Humbuckers - a joy to play. I use a little VOX DA5 modeler, both PU's, and it'll chime as though it has single coils on the high gain and drive Styles, and even better with a little reverb and tremolo/reverb dialed in. It gets that wonderful McGuinn/Petty Rick sound - but I still want a vintage Rick!! LOL
Thank you Dylan for posting ! I really love your content, put a smile on face... I play only instrumental song too and I got recently a 330/12 ! Hope my R piece won't broke ! Take care of you !
Hey Mick, great to hear from you. Congrats on the 330, saw it in the T Rex vid! Lovely! Fingers crossed on the R, I think best stick with 10s and you should be OK, the previous owner of mine used 11s which slightly stressed it. All that tension, it's basically like a heavyweight boxer hanging off those little metal struts!
Yeah, had the "R" tailpiece break statically while in the case on my '67 Blondie Rick 12..cost me around $60 to order, get shipped, replace..but well worth the hassle..Wish I had her back!!
@@EdgarDizzlewicz92 I did , just don't hear it, the only ones that come close are some acoustic backing in What's Going Ahn and I'm In Love With A Girl, but they might be double tracked or Nashville tuning (very common in 70s rock). There's lots of clean, chimey jangle but it all sounds likes strats to me (you can hear the trem bar being used a few times). The exception might be September Gurls but I'd always read that that was Alex Chilton's weird electric mandolin guitar.
Yep radio city only has the lead from September Gurls played on a 12 string mando guitar. Big stars third has a lot of 12 string acoustic. Night time is a great example
12 string guitars are just versatile, its amazing how it can fit to most genres. Honest, do you think several Hollies track should be added? I.e. Bus Stop, Look Through Any Window, both have 12 strings
If it was a list of Greatest 12 string songs then sure, but I was concentrating on what I felt were overlooked numbers, and "Look Through Any Window" got a fair bit of (deserved) respect on a few "greatest" lists and UA-cam compilations.
Really well done, top marks. I'm sure you don't need another 12,,but as I couldn't afford the £4k Rick I wanted I reseached and bought a Getsch G5422-12-electromatic. Really great guitar, try one if you haven't.
If I could afford it, my house would be full of nothing but electric 12 strings! But at the moment I'm kind of holding out for Squier to release a Classic Vibe Electric XII!
@@DylanPank71 ooo fender XII. I've found most guitarists are a bit intimidated by 12's. They have an idea they never can be tuned, and they don't know what to play on them. There is a learning curve to go through, then the devotion begins. I'm absolutely sure you know exactly what I mean just by your playing. As I see it, we have a different instrument, but we have all chords already from a regular guitar. In the last couple of years I have been a travel size guitar with Nashville tuning and has a wonderful resonance and interest. You're probably aware of this, but it's all good stuff. Keep it up,that's good playing there.
Thanks for the kind words. My original R tailpiece exploded! I made a video about it - ua-cam.com/video/qgc82kE4YpM/v-deo.html . It would have taken too long to get a true R replacement from RIC so I went with an old style trapeze.

@@edfederoff2679Saw one in a shop once, didn't play it but it had a bolt on neck! First time I'd ever seen that on an acoustic.
@@DylanPank71 Thank you ! I put Ernie Ball 8s ! I think it would be good... It's a 1991 Rickenbacker, what a sound !!!!
Yeah, had the "R" tailpiece break statically while in the case on my '67 Blondie Rick 12..cost me around $60 to order, get shipped, replace..but well worth the hassle..Wish I had her back!!
@@DylanPank71 Agree, that's what I use..Made up custom gauge sets.
The only thing missing from the "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" segment was the tortured screams of a certain troubled young man named Kurt.
Good version, but upsettingly distressingly 12-string free!
@@DylanPank71 yeah someone should have thought of that. I wonder if Kurt ever played a 12.
@@evilkidd174 Hah..I doubt it much!
@@evilkidd174 he played a busted up one for polly if I remember correctly. It had half the strings missing tho so it was technically just a 6 string
@@bearbar4723 thos 12 sting fenders were often played like that. Johnny Winter did the same at woodstock.
Great work Dylan! I've been playing So. Central Rain wrong all this time. Dreaming of a Ricky 660/12 one day...
Dreams burn down
So good! Would love to see some Big Star in here!
I'm not sure they ever used 12 strings on anything, maybe some of the acoustic tracks but you'd have to recommend some.
@@DylanPank71 Radio City is full of 12-string! Worth another listen
Nice demo. Thanks
With all sincrerity, you just showed me I don't need a 12.
Watching this makes me want to buy a Ricky even more!
Yeah, I wouldn't mind finding/buying another Rick 360/12 in MapleGlo...sure miss the one I had to sell!! It was almost pristine. Dec '67..
I love your set list here!!
Worth the money just for The Move's Fire Brigade.
Snaps for including Leadbelly!
Love these videos, man!! Keep up the awesome work.
Fajne, gratuluję Rickenbacker to unikat brzmieniowy w Polsce
Dziękuję Ci.
Piękny ten Rickenbacker. Ja się męczę na Defilu Echo z 74.
DiD you swap the tailpiece on the Ric? Can't say as I would blame you for doing that. Great sounds and songs. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the kind words. My original R tailpiece exploded! I made a video about it - ua-cam.com/video/qgc82kE4YpM/v-deo.html . It would have taken too long to get a true R replacement from RIC so I went with an old style trapeze.
Many songs by Roxette feature a 12-string Rickenbacker in places.
Great stuff Dylan, I've been trying to work out a song by a 60's American group The Electric Prunes called "little olive" and would love any help.
Great!!!
Ps dreams burn down ... very overlooked
Just realised you have nearly the same Crafter 12 as me - mine's just black with cutaway.
Such a great guitar! I wonder if the electrics are as good as they often come up at reasonable prices.
@@DylanPank71 dunno but they seem to be aesthetically challenged somewhat so it seems they dropped all except the archtops, which are probably at least the same standard as the acoustics.
Great picking!
But what? No cover of the King of the Ric Jim McGuinn?
moveとsuedeを同じ動画で聴けるとは。
前作でもBlue Tones入っていて感動しました。
私も12弦にトライしてみようかな。
頑張れ!
Well done....And You And I by Yes also....you would sound good on it
Since they're a Canadian band (If you're not Canadian you probably don't know them), the intro to Tea Party's Heaven Coming Down is one of my favorite all time Rickenbacker 12 string intros. I'm curious what you think of it. I have tried to learn it but the tuning is weird apparently. I don't want to tune my rickenbacker in different tunings. Can never have enough Rickenbacker songs!
Totally, amazing one of my favorite bands. That main riff is amazing. Jeff played on his black 360 12. Cheers from Toronto. I tried it on my red 360 12 it's EACEAC I believe
